The Bennett house was an absolute slice of Heaven for our honeymoon. The house was perfectly and beautifully maintained, and provided us with exactly what we were looking for; privacy right on the water! From the first views of the water as we walked around the deck, to hearing the constant crash of the ocean on the beach from every room in the house, we could not have been more pleased. The pictures on the site are beautiful, but cannot do the view justice......you just have to stand on the deck to truly appreciate it! Within just a few hours of being there, we were able to totally relax and get into to island mode. My wife says it is the first time in our 6 years together she has seen me totally relaxed! Wanda could not have been more helpful with travel advice, and even booked our golf cart for us before our arrival. Austin was also a great help while we were there; picking us up from the ferry, giving us a tour of town, recommending local restaurants and hangouts, and bringing us beautiful fresh conch shells. He also took us out for a boat tour of the neighboring cays. I would highly recommend Green Turtle and The Bennett House to anyone looking for a laid back, non "touristy", Jimmy Buffett style island experience! Must do's: Pineapples (say hi to Yvonne!), Sun Downer's, Green Turtle Club Wednesday nights for the music of the Gully Roosters, Kevin and the Gully Roosters anywhere, Miss Emily's for Goombay smash, Harvey's Restaurant, Lowe's and Sid's grocery, David's liquor store, and Seaside Carts!

Owner response: Thank you so much Josh. So glad it was so wonderful for you. Hope you come back for your anniversaries!

It would stand to reason that if you really loved an experience you would write a review. Not true in my experience...mainly because I am a major procrastinator ... My first stay at Bennett House was perfect...4 weeks spent in that most fantastic location....directly overlooking the Long Bay beach / Atlantic Ocean and a prime viewing spot for the sunrise show every morning ~ cup of coffee in hand, of course. The house has a secluded feeling to it due to the natural foliage that surrounds it although there are many homes nearby and town is just a few minutes by cart. This area of the island is centrally located to town and the Green Turtle Club for any nightlife you might desire. The Lizard Bar is only a minute or two away by cart and provides a great happy hour, good food and a refreshing pool. It's an easy walk to either Gillam Bay beach for it's fantastic shelling opportunities or Bita Bay beach for the snorkeling, noodling and swimming. The house is well built, meticulously maintained, comfortable and invites you to just chill on the AMAZING porch, or snooze on the comfy couches, maybe take some downtime in the oceanfront hammock or sit with your feet dangling off the deck watching the regulars on their daily beach routine. Now what more could I possibly want? Answer: more time spent at Bennett House. After my 28 days of island living spent at Bennett House in 2010 I have since returned for two subsequent years for Christmas/New Years and Junkanoo (an island tradition not to be missed) and could not give a higher recommendation than having spent my last two birthdays in this wonderful home...birthday dinners on the deck out by the beach....oh if only life could be so grand everyday! Many heartfelt thanks to Wanda and Billy for opening up their island home. It's an experience...treat yourself...you won't regret it.

Our stay at the Bennett house on Green Turtle Cay was everything that we had expected and more. The house is in a very convenient location to both the beaches and to the town of New Plymouth. The caretaker Austin met us at the dock and took great care during the week to be sure that we had everything we needed for our week on the island. The house was very clean and we enjoyed sunrises every morning from the deck on the back of the house. The house was well equipped with beach towels, dishes, pots and pans, a BBQ grill and everything that a family would need for their stay. We would recommend the McIntosh Bakery for breakfast and delicious baked goods - try the key lime bars! The pace on the island is very quiet, so if you are looking for a place to totally relax and unwind, Green Turtle Cay is for you!

Owner response: Thank you for choosing the Bennett House and the wonderful comments. We appreciate you!

We just returned from a 5 night stay and can't wait to go back. Everything was great, and exceeded our expectations. The home is well equipped, very clean, and tastefully decorated. Austin Lowe is a class act, who greeted us and gave insightful island history and directions, then left us on our own which we greatly appreciated. We really liked the water quality from the rain cistern, as our previous visits to Abaco required store bought. GTC is a great place and the residents are wonderful people. The weather was windy, but still nice, then got real nice during the week. Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home. We will definitely be back.

I got remarried last summer and chose Green Turtle Cay for our honeymoon. There are lots of beautiful properties to rent on the island, but I can't imagine any place that was more perfect for us than Wanda's beautiful Bennett House. It is right on the beach, and it feels very secluded and private. The location is also perfect for exploring the island with a golf cart. Nothing is very far. Going into town was always fun with its markets and delicious restaurants. Ask for directions to the beach with sand glass or to see the baby pigs! The house has everything you could want and more. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and has a wonderful screened-in porch overlooking the turquoise waters where we spent countless hours reading, eating breakfast or just watching the sun set. We had one day of rain, and we curled up on the sofa, reading and napping, which was very relaxing. Snorkeling in front of the house was great - lots of coral and brightly colored fish to discover. We rented a boat for most of the week and visited some uninhabited islands as well as nearby Guana Cay. Thank you, Wanda, for a perfect honeymoon that we will never forget!! Ellin and Dave

My sister and I have been in search of the perfect tropical paradise, one with a quiet, comfortable house, spectacular ocean view and beautiful beaches, and we definitely found what we were looking for at the Bennet House on Green Turtle Cay. The house is spotlessly clean and well kept with all the modern conveniences, plus it is beautifully decorated with the owner's spectacular handiwork, which gives it a very cozy, personal touch of home. When we arrived, the caretaker, Austin met us at the dock and led us to the Bennet House for the tour. He also checked in on us regularly throughout the week to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us tips on all the amazing things we should see while we were there. Everyone on the island was so friendly and helpful it made us feel very safe and relaxed. We began each morning with coffee on the screened porch as we watched the sun rise. In the afternoon we’d explore the island, snorkel, collect sea shells and sip cocktails while basking in the sun on the beautiful, white sandy beach. At night we would struggle to stay awake until 10:00 p.m. but there’s nothing more relaxing than the sound of the ocean waves after a day of sunshine so we lost the battle every single night. The only regret we had was leaving the lap top at home because we discovered we had no cell phone service on the island. We felt a little isolated at first but once we were able to buy a calling card, we were able to make regular calls to home. When we come back next time, which we are already planning for next year, we will remember the laptop! Absolutely our new very favorite place !

My husband and I chose Green Turtle Cay and the Bennett House to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. What a perfect week! We have travelled the Caribbean extensively and have found a new favorite. The house is wonderfully comfortable, perfectly situated, and on an incredible beach. The people of the island are warm and friendly and there is an amazing variety of good restaurants to choose from. Our typical day started with an hour walk on the beach, with the beach to ourselves. After either a great breakfast in town or a leisurely cup of coffee and slice of homemade coconut bread from one of the groceries, we'd settle in alternating beach books with snorkeling with a quick trip into town for lunch or dinner. We aren't big excursion/activities people, but there are a number of must do's on the island - we could list them here but the better thing to do is ask and follow the advice of the Bennetts and Austin, the caretaker. Everything that was suggested was wonderful and beyond our expectations! We can't wait to go back - we're plotting now for our next trip!

This was our second trip to Green Turtle and the Bennett House and when we made our reservation we were smarter than last year-we reserved a second week in the fall-made it a little easier to leave at the end of the week. Since it was our second trip, we didn't need any time to wind down-after the ten minute ferry ride we were in island mode. Our golf cart was ready for us at the end of the dock, Austin (the caretaker) was waiting for us and we were "home" in minutes. The house was just as we left it! We briefly caught up on the local gossip with Austin, unloaded the few groceries we brought, fixed a pina colada and stuck our toes in the sand and surf! Then it was off to town to Harvey's for lunch (cracked conch-oh my!) and some provisions. We had a little rain at the beginning and end of our trip but, like my husband said, he'd rather be in the rain at Bennett House than our home in Jacksonville-much better vibe and views! Even the rain didn't drive us undoors-the screened porch did come in handy, however. We spent our time much like last year, up before dawn walking the beach, touring in our golf cart, playing with Oreo the three legged dog and taking her for golf cart rides, walking around town and enjoying the company of tourists and locals, and having conversation with each other (novel idea!). The books we brought, however, are still unread-we can read at home! When you come, drink in all that is wonderful about this quaint and unique place. Wanda and Billy did it right when they built Bennett House-it just feels like home. See you in a few months.

Owner response: Thank you so much for the kind words. We love it there and are so glad you do too! Thank you for staying again at the Bennett House and it will be ready for you in November!

The Mulligans, Jacksonville, FL5-3-09 to 5-10-09Unlike many rentals, our stay at Bennett House was like visiting friends-a cozy home, comfortably furnished, absolutely fully equipped and clean, clean, clean. The flight to and from the Bahamas (Craig Air out of St. Augustine) was painless, and the 25 minute cab ride to Treasure Cay ferry dock was easy. Our total travel time was less than 3 ½ hours (flight, cab, ferry, golf cart ride) and we were at Bennett House enjoying our first island cocktail by 1:00 PM. After several days of winding down from the rat race and enjoying the tranquility of the ocean, we ventured out in our golf cart to explore the island and found we could not have picked a better place to stay. The house is centrally located on an ideal and private spot, making it feel like it was ours. Austin, the caretaker, met us at the dock upon arrival, helped us secure a golf cart for the week and checked in on us daily. Green Turtle is paradise and we plan to visit “our house” again later this year.

Owner response: Thank you for the wonderful comments on our home and Green Turtle Cay. We love it there and we hope you visit again soon.

We have been to the Abacos several times staying at Marsh Harbor, Elbow Cay and sailing many of the islands. But this trip we choose Green Turtle and the Bennett House. We could not have made a better choice. Everyone on the island was so friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful and for such a small island (only 3 miles) quite varied. But staying at the Bennett House was our best choice. The house was perfectly located in the middle of the island, on the beach with amazing views. Walk out the door and you are right on top of one of the best snorkeling reefs on the island. The house is stocked with anything you could possibly need. We opened the windows and enjoyed the wonderful sounds and breezes from the ocean. Everyone agreed this was the best vacation ever. Our only disappointment . . .it was over too soon. Next time (and there will be one very soon) we will plan to stay in "Paradise" a little longer.

This was our first time to Green Turtle Cay and we couldn't have picked a better house to stay. The house is very well appointed and has an awsome view and access to a beautiful beach and swimming/snorkeling and we will definitely be back in the future.

Our family has visited Green Turtle for the last two years and stayed at the Bennett House both times. The house and location is the best! The house will accomodate six people very comfortably. The view from the screened porch is breathtaking! We all love to snorkel off the reef right out the back door. Walk a few feet down the beach and there is a great swimming area. Very secluded, perfect place to get away and relax!
