BRAND NEW CONSTRUCTION - We have just taken possession of our new rental home in Sandy Bay on the beautiful Bay Island of Roatan in Honduras. We came here on a cruise ship one year ago in December 2006 and fell in love with the island and the people. We knew this was where we wanted to be to play and to relax. So share our dream and share our home!
This three bedroom, three full bath home is setup to permit you to have a home to call your base while going out and exploring this island paradise. Constructed to US standards, with beautiful Honduran qualities like wood floors and tile baths, we have designed this house to be an alternative to the hotel lifestyle, offering you privacy like you would enjoy at home but with an affordable price in a resort destination.
Our community, Dolphin Reef, will be completed with a total of 9 homes. We are the first home in this community to be constructed and completed for living. We are constructing another home in this compound to be our permanent residence upon retirement one day. While there is the sound (and, honestly, the mess) of construction, we are offering a special rental rate on this brand new beautiful home. Once the community is completed and the swimming pool is open and ready to enjoy, the rental rate will be raised to reflect the market rate on Roatan.
So, while we are looking to find a way to share paradise with all of you, enjoy a discounted stay in a lovely new home with a beautiful view of the turquoise waters, walk on a quiet beach and enjoy all this island has to offer.
This house features three levels. The washer/dryer are on the ground floor along with an outdoor kitchen and parking areas. Up the stairs to the second level, you will find an outdoor deck where you can sit and view the gorgeous clear turquoise sea in one direction and the jungle hills on the opposite side. Inside, you step into a nice open floor plan with the living room, dining room and a fully functioning kitchen with an island and upgraded appliances. You can prepare all of your meals at home or take advantage of the short ride to the West End restaurants. On this level, there are 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. One bedroom has a queen bed and en suite bath; the other bedroom features 2 twin beds. A full bath is located in the hall for easy access to the twin bedroom but also for use by the main living area.
Up the stairs, a large loft offers a secondary living space and sleeping area with a queen bed. A bedroom with en suite bath and queen bed is located on this level. Outside the loft through glass doors, a deck runs the length of the outside of the home. It is here that you will get the best views of the surrounding areas.
We acquired most of the furniture in the house from Dian and her Umbul Umbul Fine Home Furnishings shop in West End. If you like the look, stop by and see her. Her place is on the road from West End going toward West Bay. If you are lucky, eat at her restaurant if it is open during your stay on the island. You won't go wrong picking up something to remind you of your stay on Roatan and getting a wonderful meal!
The other thing that you may consider is that if you need a rental car while on the island, we recommend Yusef and Lesley Allam of A & G Rent A Car. We have been left hanging by the large brand name car rental agencies who show a reservation for us but no cars on arrival! We are happy to tell you about our experiences for a nice one or two week stay on the island and give you pointers for sights you may wish to see. We can't wait to retire on Roatan one day, but in the meantime we certainly know the thrills we have experienced there for our short vacations and are ready to help you plan your stay! |
