Located on the corner of Watch Hill Road and Avondale Road, the Grange is one mile from the village of Watch Hill. Enjoy the unique ambiance of the Grange that was a two room schoolhouse built in 1873 then converted into a 4-H Grange, and finally into a beach summer house by the present owner. We are in a quiet, private, neighborhood.
Experience a sense of history and unwind while watching the boats on the Pawcatuck River from the spacious deck. Several marinas are located at the end of Avondale Road where one can enjoy watching the swans feeding and the boats coming and going. Birds and butterflies abound in the garden. Close to Mystic, Stonington, CT; Narraganset, RI; Block Island and other points of interest.
The Schoolhouse has a main hall 65 ft. in length with tall windows and comfortable padded antique wicker furniture. A stage at the end of the main hall is a perfect setting for a poetry reading, a musical performance or fulfilling other ambitions. Watch Hill village has interesting boutique shops, the harbor, a favorite ice cream store and the famous free standing carrousel.
