This cabin is really wonderful! Quiet and secluded...We made s'mores over the fire pit, cooked on the grill and soaked in the hot tub! There was enough room for everyone and the kids had a great time! Plenty of games to play, the hot tub is great but didn't hold a temp very well, the kitchen is well stocked, and the beds were all comfy! Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin!

The cabin was very nice. Not too big, not to small and the perfect fit for two families with a couple kids each. The location was perfect, and although we had cold weather for our visit, I would imagine the good location pays big benefits for summertime visitors. For us, it was nice enough to hang out at the cabin, take a short trip or two and do some hiking up to the rock behind the cabin. On the plus side, in addition to the location, the cabin was well furnished and very clean. The fireplace was great and the outdoor firepit was put to some serious use. The fire pit allowed us to be outside throughout the cold weekend and the snow. The access road and driveway is steep but very doable as we each had trucks, but it is not as bad as it looks, just give it some gas and you will be fine. The only negative was the hot tub. It wouldn't stay hot. The kids were in it, and the temperature decreased rapidly from 102 to 89 and then it took all night for it to get back to 102 and when the parents got in, once again the heat shut off and the temp went down speedily. We followed the directions as to the power settings but to no avail. Perhaps it is a power problem. Hot tubs require alot of power to operate correctly and we noticed that the heat light would turn off when the jets were turned on but we figured this out too late. This would seem to be an odd feature (there was no mention of this in the instructions) as I would expect them both to work at the same time so I think probably there is not enough power going to the tub. Also, it shouldn't take an entire night for the tub to heat up 10 degrees, again this may be indicative of a power problem. All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5. Fix the problem with the tub and there is your fifth star. Thanks so much to the owners for letting us rent the property.

Fun in the Cold

The cabin was cozy and very well decorated. The driveway up was the only issue lol. We couldn't get our cars up the long driveway because it was raining and our cars couldn't four wheel it. Other than the walk we took everyday from cabin to car and back, it was really fun. Cabin was very pleasant, wasn't very large but it was still a great price for a nice cabin. The casino was 5 minutes away so that was great. The view and location of the cabin in the mountains was great especially when it was snowing.

Owner response: Sorry for the driveway...it has since been graded and leveled out. There is no need for a 4 wheel drive it just gets washed out with all the rain. The home is 1400 square feet and is a 3/2 with a loft area...plenty more room than a hotel. Glad you had a good time other than the driveway. Thanks for visiting.

A very quaint and relaxing stay. The property was very clean and I found all amenities in the kitchen I would ever need. I was given very good directions with the exception of preparing me for just how bad the drive in to the cabin actually was. If I had been in a car, I would not have been comfortable in ANY way going to the cabin itself. The weather was not bad, so that was not an issue, but the driveway is in pretty bad shape. I used my 4-wheel drive going in and out and I have experience with mountain driving and stays. This should probably be addressed with a little more detail. I can honestly say however, that I would love to go back for a longer stay. Great for relaxation! We visited Bryson City to take our Grandchildren to ride the Polar Express. I love that little town and would love to revisit just to browse the shops and dine. Thanks for a memorable stay and hope to do it again soon!

Amazing family vacation!

We chose this cabin because there was already a crib present and I loved the idea of it being tucked back and secluded. We had four adults(husband, myself, brother, and my mom) and two children(4 and 7 months). There was plenty of room for all of us. We only see my mom a few times a year so it was just wonderful to sit in the front porch and enjoy some coffee and chit chat with her in the mornings. We ended up seeing all sorts of wildlife even on the days it rained! My four year old says he wants to stay at this cabin again and we agree! It was such a warm and cozy cabin and a great place to just enjoy family time for a few days!

I had a hard time trying to figure out where to go on vacation this year with a two year old and a 13 year old. I needed a vacation terribly and this house was a perfect fit with three bedrooms, crib, toys, and porch swings for the teenager. It was in a great location and I'm glad we stayed as long as we did (10 days). Owners are very responsive and friendly! We all had a great time! Thanks!

Great Vacation for the Schmidts

This was a wonderful place to stay. The location was secluded yet minutes from Cherokee, Blue Ridge Parkway, shops, dining and entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin from the minute we stepped in. It was amazingly clean, smelled wonderful and perfect in everyway. Great yard for kids to play in, loads of fun. It was one of the best vacations we have every had. Thank you so very much for allowing us to stay and we hope to return again next year. The Schmidts

I absolutely love this cabin. This was our second time staying there. The cabin is VERY nice and has everything you could possibly need. We have already booked our third trip for next year. Stephanie is very helpful and very easy to work with. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Cherokee. It is literally minutes from everything!

Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Stayed for a week with my grown children and spouses and grandchildren. Perfect location for day hikes in the mountains. Really close to groceries and attractions in Cherokee, with a very isolated feel. We enjoyed our stay, and plan to rent this lovely property again. Just as nice outside as in, porches, hot tub and fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Plenty of parking on level surface. Very clean and well kept, owners are very easy to work with. Highly recommend renting this property.

Cabin was beyond expectation – secluded – clean – large parking area – Hot tub and more. Very homely atmosphere in the cabin and plenty conveniences. Great area to branch out to explore trails, waterfalls and the Smokey Mountains. Will visit again and suggest highly for a getaway. Road is narrow and steep but just take your time.

We loved it. We were there only a couple of days and wished we could have stayed much longer. The peace and quiet is exactly what we were looking for! The cabin was beautiful. Looks exactly as the pics depict, which I find is often not true.

This property has a succession of excellent reviews and no wonder, it's a fabulous cottage, EXTREMELY well equipped and in a great location either for a busy sight seeing trip or a relaxing getaway. The only negative point anyone could raise would be the rather tricky approach road, but after a couple of days even that becomes part of the fun! We visited in August 2012 and stayed for a week. We should have booked longer. We took our son's family with us so there were 6 of us including an 18 month old toddler. Our son's family were easily accomodated on the upper floor whilst we had the ground floor bedroom. The large lounge / dining / kitchen space proved to be an excellent family base and the well gated porch gates meant that the whole cabin was very toddler proof! We self catered and found that the quantity and nature of crockery, utensils and cutlery was more than sufficient, and we appreciated the dishwashing and laundry appliances which freed up so much time so that we could get on with our holiday! A Food Lion supermarket less than 10 mins away served us well. There's an excellent collection of information about the area in the cabin, and there's certainly plenty to do in the area. We visited the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, Mingo Falls, the Oconaluftee Visitors Centre, the Island park in town (great for paddling, float rides and fishing), the Old Mill Gem Mining and The Cherokee Storyteller's Bonfire, held Friday and Saturday evenings at the Island. First look at Google Earth suggested that the shops in Cherokee were pretty much tourist cash traps and first drive through might seem to confirm that, but take a closer stroll if you've the time because there is a lot of reasonable price and quality leather and rugs. Slightly further afield, we got across to Dollywood a couple of times ( a season ticket is worth the expense), visited Cades Cove and drove into Maggie Valley and along Blue Ridge Parkway. Although we didn't visit from Cherokee, I would suggest that Asheville and Pisgah Forest are easily reached, as is Bryson City and Nantahala, so there's plenty to keep you busy for a second week. We would go back in a flash! Perhaps another time we'd move at a slower pace and enjoy more of the peace and tranquility that the site offers. Maybe that way we'd take time to appreciate the wildlife of the area which is in abundance. We rent in the USA frequently, and this was one of the very best for us!

Great value in a convenient location

We had five adults (two couples) stay very comfortably in the cabin for several days. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, and grilling outdoors. Easy access to the Nantahala Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting, Bryson City for the Great Smoky Mountains Railway, and other attractions.

Unbelievably beautiful and peaceful!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the cabin for 7 wonderful nights in July 2011. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and their pictures can't begin to do it justice. It has every comfort of home and was clean and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed cooking out and using the hot tub while we were there. It was a little to warm for a fire in the pit since we were there in the middle of July but it is a wonderful touch. The directions to the property were spot on and easy to follow and the owners, Steve and Stephanie were easy to work with and very helpful with suggestions and tips. The cabin sits on the side of a mountain and is surrounded by a beautiful manicured yard and then by lush green trees that provide privacy and quiet. At night there are lightning bugs that light up the yard and trees, a site I haven't seen since I was a child at my grandparents house in Pennsylvania. It is close to everything to need and would want to do. Stores, attractions, casino, shopping, restaurants and so many outdoor activities you run out of time before getting to all of them. The locals were friendly and also very helpful. We were able to enjoy white water rafting, zip-lining, hiking and yes the casino. We took day trips into the mountains to hike some water falls that are close by and to find quaint restaurants for lunch and dinner. Check out Mingo falls if you get the chance, it's only about a 20 minute ride from the cabin and is breathtaking. Rafting on the Chatooga in S.C. is something not to be missed as was the zip-lining at Nantahala gorge. For the very daring, a ride to Cataloochee is a must. There we were able to see Elk and have some amazing pictures of them in the wild. We would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone looking to get away to the mountains. We will definitely be going back again, perhaps in the fall so that we can see the changing of the leaves and then a trip in the winter so that we can enjoy the snow covered mountains. Thanks to Steve and Stephanie for sharing their wonderful cabin with us!

Terrific getaway

The cabin was everything we expected and more. It was very clean and well maintained. You are very secluded, but yet 5 minutes from the grocery store if you need anything. If the casino is where you want to go, you can be there in minutes. The only thing missing is wi-fi, but if getting away is your objective that's no big deal. We hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful week at the Cherokee Hideaway. It was close to everything. The crib came in handy with a little one. The hot tub took a while to heat up, but once we figured it out, we enjoyed it throughout the week. We would love to come back!

Lots of potential but not there yet

This is basically a wonderful cabin with a lot of details not attended to yet. The cabin is a charming recently built log cabin in a lovely woodsy location. There is some helicopter noise from tourist overflights on the weekends, but I assume that any house in the area has this issue. The cabin has a nice layout, is nicely decorated, and has lots of light. The front and back porches are wonderful places to sit, particularly in the two person swinging chairs. Unfortunately, the pots and pans are quite small and woefully inadequate to cook for 6 (our group), let alone 8 people. Fortunately we had brought some left overs with us for our first dinner. Our second dinner involved buying a much larger pot to cook with (which we took with us so the situation remains the same). We couldn't find a cutting board or carrot peeler and the sharp knives were very dull. The blanket on two of the beds was quite thin and required leaving the heat on at night so that we didn't get cold. The upstairs bedrooms have no facilities for hanging up clothes- a couple of hooks at least would have been appreciated. If the owners will attend to these details, they will turn this into a cabin I would be happy to recommend.

Owner response: Unfortunately things do get misplaced, broken or discarded when the cabin has had a lot of rentals. As the owner of the cabin, I have had up to 10 people there at one time and have never had a problem with inadequate pots and pans when I have cooked a meal. We haven't been up to the cabin as much this year as in the past and we are constantly replacing items that may have gone missing ie: cutting board, carrot peeler and the knives are replaced each time we arrive at the cabin. As for the blankets on the beds they are thin; however we have completely stocked the cabin with plenty of heavy blankets and it is equipped with central air AND heat! I can appreciate the hanging of clothes and we will attend to that when we arrive in December. As for the helicopter noise, I can not control that and has never seemed to be an issue when we are there. Thanks for pointing out "some" of the good qualities of our cabin....our cabin has always received high reviews, as you can see from all the other reviews posted, and I apologize if your stay did not meet your expectations.

Had a great time at this wonderful cabin. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. Cabin is conveniently located to all of the attractions in Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Gatlinburg. We especially enjoyed having dinner at the Dillsboro Smokehouse, they have great BBQ. Thank you for sharing the cabin with us as it made vacationing with my elderly parents so easy and gave us plenty of room to spread out. Would like to visit again soon and will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Gorgeous and cozy cabin!

The cabin is gorgeous and extremely clean. It still has a new feeling to it and the pictures truly do not capture the beauty. Very cozy yet plenty of room for a family or a group of friends. Location is perfect for a visit into Cherokee, Bryson CIty (whitewater rafting), Waynesville or other local mtn. areas. TIP - follow the owner's directions exactly as they provide great landmarks as well as other descriptions not offered by online map web sites. This was a great getaway. The only negative is that we had to leave and that the cabin does not belong to us.

Truly "Get Away" cabin

This cabin is equipped with everything you will need to get away for a vacation. It is beautiful and comfortable. The fire pit outside is a great place to relax and to listen to the sounds of forest. We really enjoyed this cabin and its location - high in the mountains, The only regret we have is that the cabin did not have a mountain view; otherwise, it would be the greatest place on earth.

Great Family Getaway

My family and I loved the tranquil setting of the cabin. My wife and I enjoyed sitting in the swing on the large front porch in the morning and drinking our coffee. The cabin is only minutes away from everything Cherokee, NC had to offer. We would definitely like to stay here again if/when we return to Cherokee!

My family of six (two adults, four kids) have vacationed at the "Cherokee Hideaway" three times so far and have loved it every time. We have done it in the spring, summer and winter, which has given us a varity of different types of vacations, due to the weather. We have gone skiing, sledding, played in the creeks, went to Dollywood, went horseriding and caught fireflies. It's location is just far enough out of the way to give you a peaceful retreat, and yet within an hour of most of the wonderful attractions that the Smokey Mountains have to offer. We always have a great time there, and have spent many days just "hanging out" at the cabin. It feels like a second home to us. We still need to go back, because we have not been there in the fall. I would just love to see what the mountains look with the fall leaves. I would defenitely would recommend it to anyone who would like a relaxing vacation spot. Did I mention that there is a hot tub? AAAAHHHHHHHH!

Away Frome It All!

We have a family of six and there was plenty of room for us all! Everything was there for us for an entire week, all we needed was food and we were set. We loved the porches and the gates for our younger child, the larger lot for the older kids to run around and be loud and the hot tub for us older two. The site was wonderful secluded and yet literally five to ten minutes to everything else. Cherokee was a great experience for us all and we even got to see Black bears in the national park on two occasions!

What a beautiful "home away from home"! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. It had everything we needed! So peaceful and tranquil. When we were getting ready to leave to come home, everyone said we should have reserved it for one more day... next time I hope we reserve it for the entire week! The area near Cherokee is breathtaking. Even saw snow! I would encourage you though to make some statement about the very steep and narrow driveway in your property advertising. It was covered with leaves when we arrived at almost dusk, so it was very difficult to see if we were on the right path on our way up the hill. Could you possibly add something upstairs to accommodate hang up clothes? There is no closet space in either bedroom for hang up clothes. Thank you again for sharing your cabin with us. We hope to reserve it again next year and have already shared your web site with friends and other family members.

Our first time to Cherokee Hideaway and it was awesome. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. We were close to all attractions and yet it seemed we were in our on world. Just us and nature. There was 6 of us and we all enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and the deer. I would recommend it to anyone and can't wait to visit again.

Stephanie...loved staying in this beautiful cabin. Loved the setting. Our grandson particularly enjoyed the tire swing. We adults enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, and the noise of the birds, etc. Porches are great for catching up on reading. So relaxing. The comments on the road were so accurate. This was our first experience with a vacation rental and we are so glad we did this! We are a family of 8 and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The cabin was incredibly clean and well-maintained; it felt like a luxury home inside. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Great Smoky Mountains and still be a bit removed from the touristy spots. We have already recommended this property to friends who might visit the area someday.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

As regulars at this cabin, we wouldn't continue to go back if it wasn't THE BEST in accommodations in the area - convenient, clean and has everything you could possibly want! LOVE IT!

This is our first time going to the mountains! We had such a wonderful time in the cabin in Cherokee. I enjoyed sitting on the swing and reading a book. The cabin is extremely cozy and the town was absolutely delightful. It even snowed during our trip! I would recommend this cabin to anyone who want to enjoy the mountains in Cherokee.

This cabin is gorgeous. All wood. The kitchen is so beautiful and very well stocked. Very nice towels and sheets. The decor is amazing. There's just so much to look at on the walls to enjoy. We were pleasantly surprised. The cabin is super clean and safe. The porches have safety gates so little ones can't go off. We really enjoyed our stay. And most of all Stephanie is great to deal with. We hope to visit the Cherokee Hide-Away again.

The cabin was beautiful. We were there on a girls vacation from September 21 -28, 2008. The isolation was wonderful. We yelled, screamed, vented without having to worry about disturbing anybody. The casino was ten minutes away, which was a plus. We went to Peter's for breakfast, what can I say, everything was mouthwatering. We REALLY enjoyed our stay.

I really enjoyed staying in the cabin it was very beautiful and peaceful. I would recommend anyone to stay their especially with the hot tub because you can really relax with the sound of nature. Me and my family had a ball it was just want we needed to get away from our daily duties. Thank you so much for opening up your home to us we really appreciated it.

This cabin is amazing and everything that it is represented as. My group enjoyed every minute of the peace and quiet and the location was so convenient to everything. Be sure to have good tires on your car for the driveway. This is not a complaint, it is just a heads up. We loved it!

My family enjoyed our stay in the NC this weekend. The Cabin was very convienant to attractions which made it alot more enjoyable...we were able to go then come back for lunch and save some $. We visited Santa's Land, the Elk in Cataloochee reserve and Smokey Mountain railroad in Bryson City. The kids want to go back to the "new house". Thanks for everything!

We spent 3 great nights in the cabin over Memorial Day. It was very clean, beautifully decorated and fully equipped. It was easy to enjoy privacy, yet offered the convenience of rafting 20 minutes down the road. We have already checked the availability calendar for a repeat visit!

i love this place, everything was so peacefull. verry far from road up the mountaia i liked it. close to harrahs casino. and good for the kids they had toys and a crib. we went to all the attractions santa land a must if you have little ones. the harveys are verry nice and helpfull people. we enjoyed every day. and we will be back soon. thanks natasha and family.

Our family of six completely enjoyed our seven day stay at this beautiful cabin. It had all the comforts of home, without all the chores our everyday life requires. We were minutes away from snow skiing, quiet mountain drives and many touristy attractions, although when at the cabin had the seclusion that our busy life so desperately needed. We can’t wait to return to our little “Hideaway”!

we stayed at this cabin over chirstmas. we loved everything about this amazing place.it was located in a beautiful area near the smokey mountains and the indian reservation. we had a very plesant and exciting christmas there. the cabin was spacious and had everything a family would need or want in a vacation home. i would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for the perfect vacation spot it is easy to rent and easy to love.
