On the West Coast 100km north of Lisbon.There are direct flights to Lisbon on BA from Heathrow, Easyjet from Luton, Monarch from Gatwick and TAP from Gatwick and Heathrow, bmibaby from Birmingham and Aer Lingus from Dublin. Location, Location, Location! The house occupies one of the best positions on the complex (overlooking the tenth fairway) conveniently situated between the Clubhouse, the beach and the hotel. The clubhouse, in one direction, the Marriott and beach in the opposite direction, are about 250 meters from the house. Both the clubhouse and the hotel offer casual and fine dining. There is a taxi rank at the hotel. Groceries can be bought at the shop in the resort. From its slightly elevated position, the house commands magnificent views over the golf course and the Atlantic Ocean. Inside, it is light and airy with access from all main rooms to the patio or 3 private balconies. It is situated by the large (approx. 18x 9m) shared pool and has been furnished by the owners' personal to a very high standard
Golf and Tennis: Both golf and tennis are available on the Praia D'El Rey complex. Golf tee times can be booked ahead of your visit directly with the Club and up to date charges can be provided by the golf reception staff. A set of golf clubs and a golf trolley are provided in the house. Clubs, trolleys and buggies can be rented from the Golf Office. 'Clube Adventura' outdoor activity centre and games room offers Paintball, Surfing, Archery, Orienteering and Quad Biking to the under 16's. Packages vary from half day rate of 25 euro to the 5 day rate of 120 euro. (Please, contact owner). The Marriot Hotel, 150 meters away, has a Spa where you can have all sorts of beauty treatments and massages. For a small charge you can spend the day at the hotel and use all the facilities including the various swimming pools. For Internet Access the hotel business centre is the nearest, costing 3.5 euro for 15 min or there is free wifi at the golf club. There are internet cafes in Peniche and Caldas.
Other attractions: Whilst golf is a major attraction, there are plenty of other reasons for spending a holiday here. Relax and unwind in the sun by the sheltered pool, do some leisurely sight-seeing round the many fascinating nearby historic sites, browse the local shops and markets, play tennis on the all-weather, floodlit courts. The beach boasts unspoilt golden sands as far as you can see and the Marriott provides a lifegaurd in high season. Water sports: sailing, windsurfing, surfing, game fishing and diving are available at other centres close by, some in the calm and protected waters of the Obidos Lagoon. For daily groceries and barbecues, there is a small supermarket on site and there are several larger supermarkets within easy driving distance. To ensure you can totally relax, included in the rental are the services of the locally-resident, English (Portuguese fluent) villa managers. They are available as required to provide any help or advice you need during your visit.

This beautiful house has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and provides a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing holiday home.
The large communal garden provides plenty of space at the back of the house and the pool is accessed via a gate that is about 25 paces from the house. The barbeque is built in by the kitchen door and the village (Ferrel) butcher will provide excellent steaks and sausages at a very reasonable price!
The dining area opens through French doors to a patio area where there is furniture for outdoor dining and reclining.
Towels for use in the villa are provided and coloured towels for use by the pool or on the beach are also provided. These are changed weekly. Extra maid service can be booked in advance if you feel that once a week is not enough.

In the high season the rental period is from Saturday to Saturday. During the remainder of the year start day is flexible. A starter pack of food and a bottle of wine is provided. The house is cleaned for your arrival and once a week if you are staying longer.

The Praia D’El Rey complex comprises 200 hectares of pine-forested terrain and sand dunes fronting a 2.5km long beach. Local places of interest include Obidos, a medieval walled town (15 minutes’ drive) with several good restaurants; Lisbon, an hour’s drive, with all the attractions of an ancient European capital; Caldas da Rainha, a market town 20 minutes drive north, providing many cultural interests, good shopping and restaurants as does Peniche, a fishing port 15 minutes to the southwest. Boat trips to the Berlenga Islands, a nature reserve renowned for its birds, sea life and diving, can be taken from Peniche harbour. Baleal is a 'surfers heaven' and is 15 mins from the villa. It is possible to hire all the gear and have tuition at several surf camps. The variety of restaurants in the area is endless with all price points being covered.
Golf: The Praia D'El Rey course has been voted best in Portugal twice by the Peugeot Golf Guide. It has spectacular views of the ocean from the holes above the cliffs and it provides a challenge to both experienced and novice golfers. The English pro is there to give lessons and there is a driving range and practice ground available. There are several other golf courses within easy driving distance. A set of clubs and a trolley are provided with the villa, extra sets (including left handed ones), trolleys and buggies can be hired from the golf office.

About the owner: The owner, Fergus, lives in London and often flies to Praia del Rey for some sunshine golf. He is the third generation of the family to play golf and with two very young sons is intending to introduce them to the game.
Why the Owner Chose Coimbra: After spending 6 holidays in Praia del Rey we decided it was time to buy our own property! The golf course is one of the best in Portugal and the house is in a great position to watch golf as well as play. It overlooks the tenth fairway and green but there is no danger of stray balls reaching the garden or house.
We have had non golfing members of the family to visit and they found plenty to do. The teenagers went to Surf school at Baleal, the Foodies went to the fish and produce markets in Peniche and Caldas de Rainah and the 10 year old joined the activity club run by the Golf Club.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The view of the tenth fairway and green decided us to buy the house. After playing it is fun to sit with a glass of wine and watch the golfers trying to get their ball onto the green and not in the pond that protects the green. It seems such an easy game when you are watching with a glass of wine in your hand!
