Come back to the Ireland of dreams and stay awhile in our antique filled, un-modernized (within reason of course) 19th Century stone cottage, called "Faileth Not."
Nestled on a ridge, guarded by a Bronze Age ring fort (where it’s believed the fairies dwell) our cottage is sweet, comfortable, oh so picturesque and silent but for the songs of the birds. (Your privacy is assured as main house is 50 meters away.)
How about looking in our library and discovering that special book you’ve wanted to read for so long? Book in hand (maybe even a cup of tea) take it down to the ruined foundations of a one-room stone house now a tranquil herb garden that we call St. Mary’s in Ruin.
Feeling hungry? Browse through the cookery books and make that meal you’ve always yearned for in our AGA cooker. (AGA roast chicken is divine!) West Cork is famous for its food. There’s a farmer’s market in nearby Bantry every Friday. And specialty shops abound featuring fresh produce, meat, fish, artisan cheese, bread and wine.
Rested, you can now start exploring beautiful West Cork – ‘a place apart’ as we like to say. In the evening, stroll through the ‘blue field’ called so because of its many hydrangeas. Perhaps you might fancy walking the old laneway - portions of which you can still find cobblestones. You might even cross over to the neighboring field and visit the ring fort from which you can see Dunmanus Bay. Thomasina, the cat will point the way.
Come night, surely you will agree with Yeats that ‘peace comes dropping slow’. Then you’ll sleep like you have never slept before, with Cassiopeia there, just over the hill.
