Ocean's Reach was rebuilt with a long palm tree-lined road into the back of the complex. 1B2 offers magnificent sunrises and sunsets as it is an east west island. Picture having your morning coffee while watching the sunrise out of the Gulf -- a big red ball while sitting on your newly padded lanai furniture. Ocean's Reach has changed in that there are many gardens outside, pavers in the parking area, palm trees that are lighted making it a truly tropical resort. The pool has a new surface and tiles surrounding it. The walkways are tiled and decorated with flowers. The picnic area has gas grills, tiles and new tables. There are lights in the trees for your evening grilling to add ambiance to your barbeque. Added this year was a large pole with a platform for the osprey; it is located beside the garden in the back of the complex. The osprey has build a nest on top and we can view the building of this daily while walking out the door to the elevator and from the ground while walking to our cars.
Inside has also changed: the kitchen in our unit has granite countertops, new maple cabinets and fully equipped; bring your lap top as wireless internet is here. The living room has a large 37" HD TV and the bedroom has a 32" installed on the wall this winter. The whole unit has new white large tiles as well as the lanai. The lanai has a padded lounge chair as well as padded chairs that can withstand the weather and there is new carpeting in the living with a palm trees motif. The beach in front is famous for shelling and resting, walking and swimming. From the lanai, you can see the three palm trees and sandy beach. It is directly on the beach.
There is the Ding Darling preserve on the Island. 1/3 of this Island is protected for the wild life. You can tour the Ding Darling on a bus or get a canoe at Tarpon Bay Marina and follow the many trails through the Ding Darling. Sanibel does not allow any building to go beyond 4 floors. It also restricts signs to a small size and it is intent on keeping this island beautiful. There are many great restaurants and shops on Sanibel. There is also local theatre. Enjoy the experience. Many people here for a week never want to leave the island -so great.
Sanibel offers awesome sunrises and sunsets. It is an East-West island, so watch the sunrise from your lanai and join the people on the beach who toast to the sunset and look for the "green flash" as they toast to sunset.

The beach here on Sanibel is the Greatest attraction; people enjoy walking, shelling, and bike riding on the beach. The "Sanibel Stoop" is popular as we see the shellers bending over to pick up their latest finds. We use this condo yearly and update it often to keep it in top condition. There a new dining table, seats four in the area next to the kitchen. We hope you enjoy paradise. It begins here.

- There are wonderful boat tours that travel the inland water way to the island of Useppa and Cabbage Key. There are boat trips to Cayo Costa, Upper Captiva, and Pine Island. Dolphins follow the boats jumping out of the water. Ding Darling Preserve has open bus tours that are well narrated about the birds, alligators and tides in there. You can also do this by canoe--there are marked waterways to travel in a rented canoe. Take this from Tarpon Bay Marina.

We previously vacationed on the Panhandle but have found a new favorite place to stay on Sanibel Island at Ocean's Reach. We celebrated our fortieth wedding anniversary while we were there. Our condo was just perfect for the two of us. It was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai each morning and then headed to the beach. Access to the beach was so easy, especially since I am handicapped and used a beach wheelchair. Having beach chairs provided and a locked storage area under our carport was a real convenience. The on-site staff was helpful in every way. I guess the only thing that we didn't like is that we couldn't stay longer - a mistake we won't make again! Hopefully next time we can stay at least ten days! We highly recommend this unit!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car.

Wonderful condo! This was our 9th trip to Sanibel, but 1st at Ocean's Reach. Loved the beach, pool, bikes, shuffleboard and gorgeous weather! 80 degree temps and sunshine all week! Interesting sea creatures - dolphins jumping,and plethora of fish outside the edge of the water. Fantastic ocean views from the lanai. We will definitely return next year! Can't wait! There is no place like Sanibel Island and we look forward to our 10th visit next March!

Owner response: We are happy you enjoyed the views from the condo. The sun is rising now as, I write like a big red ball up out of the peaceful blue green water. Because, Sanibel is an East-West Island, you can also see the sunset on the beach in the winter months. In April, we drive down to Captiva to watch this on the beach with many others who enjoy. The bikes are available on site to rent with bike paths all over the island. Enjoy also Ding Darling for the wild life, the many different birds and alligators.

We loved you condo - the view, sunsets and sunrises -all wonderful. We finally got to the Shell Fair this year - it is incredible! We loved biking to the pier and the temp of 80 degrees was ideal. From an NH resident, this is not too hard to take especially since we left the snow, ice, and super cold temps for Sanibel. Hopefully, we will be back next year. Sunrises and Sunsets are beautiful. Shells galore! Biking around the island was great. Trips to both Ding Darling and the Shell Museum are a must. Also Captiva is a great day. Condo is well equipped, nicely furnished, and spotless. Lanai gives perfect views of gulf and plenty of padded furniture to relax and enjoy the view or a meal. The condo is ideally located on 2nd floor and near steps and elevator. Drop down to 1st level and you are a few steps away from the beach. Beachfront pool is nice too. Having a covered parking space as well as a locked storage room makes it easy to store beach chairs, umbrellas,etc. The Ocean Reach is well maintaned and full of plants, palm trees, and flowers. The beach at Ocean Reach is very nice. Plenty of room, warm waters, and daily dolphin visits. We could not have been more pleased with the condo, the complex, and all that it offers. Georgia is a very responsive and helpful host. Thank you for making your lovely condo available for our vacation. We plan to be back in the future.
