Summerhouse Beach and Racquet Club is a quiet, peaceful resort located on gorgeous Crescent Beach with its powdery white sand that stretches in both directions as far as the eye can see. Besides its four heated swimming pools, Summerhouse features beautifully cared for landscaping, six perfectly maintained tennis courts, three racquetball courts, a basketball area, a new children's' play area, a clubhouse equipped with high-speed computers for our guests' use and, of course, horseshoe pits!
Summerhouse is bordered on one side by sand dunes and a wildlife sanctuary and on the other by multi-million dollar homes. Directly across from Summerhouse are the Intracoastal Waterway, Fort Matanzas and more quiet, secluded beaches. There is not a high-rise anywhere in site, yet Summerhouse is only a short 15 miles from downtown St. Augustine with all its fascinating history and charm as well as scores of wonderful restaurants, gift shops, pubs, and historic venues.
Our condominium, Barb's Hide-a-way, is a lovely, first-floor unit that features a large living room with a new queen sleeper sofa, dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms, The master bedroom offers a king sized bed and views of the grounds, a heated pool and the ocean. The second bedroom offers matching twin beds. Walk right out the sliding screen door, across the manicured lawns to a heated pool or walk just a bit farther to the boardwalk, and there you are at the ocean! Crescent Beach is wide, white, soft and stunningly beautiful. Catch a Flounder, catch some rays, catch a nap! You're gonna love it all!

Year Purchased: 2001
Barbara and I are both retired secondary teachers from the Albany/Schenectady area of New York. In 1994 we came to nearby Palm Coast to help out with the birth of our grandson Nicholas. We immediately fell in love with the area and, since Nicholas decided to delay his appearance a bit, Barb and I had time to personally visit just about every condominium complex in the St. Augustine area. Hands down, we agreed that Summerhouse Beach and Racquet Club on Crescent Beach was the most beautiful and the place we wanted to be. The following winter we became "snowbirds" for the first time and rented a townhouse condo at Summerhouse for one month. The next year we rented for two months and the year following that we rented for three. Then in March, 2001, Barb and I were coming up from the ocean on our last day of vacation when some friends told us about an open house being held in unit 331, a flat. So, wet and sandy, Barb and I went over just to "check it out", and the rest is, as they say, history. For the next two years we stayed in our own condominium for four months in the winter and rented it to guests in the summer. In 2003, however, we decided to give up the frozen northeast for good, and we bought a home in Palm Coast. Since then we have been renting our condominium full time. We used to let the rental office at Summerhouse handle all our reservations, but, for a number of reasons, we now handle all guest reservations ourselves. This has resulted in considerable savings for our guest and, I believe, a much smoother operation altogether.
From time to time, Barb and I talk about selling our home and moving full-time into our condominium. When the time comes, I think I will enjoy that very much!

Why the Owner Chose Crescent Beach
St. Augustine is one of the most charming and historically significant cities in America; one never tires of exploring the unique shops, the restaurants, the art galleries, and the historical venues located there. Additionally it is located right on the Intra-coastal Waterway and close by some of the most gorgeous beaches in Florida, particularly Crescent Beach. Also it is located less than an hours drive from Jacksonville with its major hospitals, sports stadiums, convention facilities and international airport and about one and a half hours from Orlando with all its world famous entertainment venues. Daytona Beach, with its own brand of excitement and entertainment, is just 40 minutes awaw!
