Convenient Covent Garden Flat

Guest: Melody (Grand Rapids, MI)
Date of Stay: 10/16/11 Review Submitted: 12/12/11

My husband & I spent a week in the flat. It is convenient to the tube, market, a H & M store, and walking distance to Trafalgar Square. Although the neighborhood is quite lively, close the windows & you will sleep just fine. We used the recommended Rad's Transport to pick us up at the airport and return us to our airport hotel. Rad was excellent - there waiting for us & right on time to take us to the hotel. I wish we had know that he also does tours. He navigates the crazy traffic and narrow streets amazingly. Martin now handles things instead of the owner, which at first was confusing, since most reviews refer to the owner. Martin was kind to pick up a short list of groceries for us to start our stay - so we could wake up to breakfast & coffee after a long travel day. The book which gives informaton about everything in the flat was a life saver when I could not figure out how to make the dryer go on for a longer period of time than 15 minutes. Martin had explained everything when we arrived at after midnight but I sure could not remember. The flat is European small but we spent such little time there it was what we needed - bed, shower, tv, American coffee maker, and a lift in the building.

Needs repairs

Guest: Snort (Calgary)
Date of Stay: 08/08/11 Review Submitted: 08/18/11

This unit is in need of repair, especially in the bathroom. Beds are comfortable. Twin beds are soft if that is your preference. Take earpludgs to ensure getting some sleep.

Owner response:Sadly our marble bathroom floor was cracked by vibration from building work being carried out in the basement of our block. Thankfully the work has now been completed and the floor is subject to a building insurance claim. The work has been booked for the autumn so we haven't had to cancel and disappoint any of our guests over the summer. Being in such a central position in theatreland has massive advantages but we do understand that peace and quiet isn't one of them! Luckily the theatre performances finish at 10.30pm each night and as you say our beds are top of the range!

Excellent location/excellent apartment

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Covent Garden. This is the perfect location to visit London for a week as we did: close to The Underground, shops, tourist attractions and of course the magnificent London West End Theatres! The apartment was everything and more than we expected. The facilities were great and perfect for a family of 4. Looking forward to staying again! Thank you Martin.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment. We were in London during winter and the apartment was always warm and inviting to return to after a long day out. The apartment was well equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities, and the rooms were clean and extremely comfortable. From the apartment, we had access to a wide variety of shops, supermarkets and pubs. There are also two tube stations in close vicinity, and the West End is just a 5-10mins walk away. We would highly recommend this apartment, especially to families looking to be self-sustainable during their holiday.

What a fantastic find - perfect location, everything you could possibly need and nice and warm in a typical British Winter. Apartment is close to restaurants, pubs, shops, supermarkets and even an inner-city playground so perfect for a family vacation in the City. many thanks for all your help xxx

The flat near Covent Garden was absolutely perfect! We stayed for an entire month and encountered no difficulties. It was perfectly located for seeing shows in the West End, shopping on Oxford Street, and the closest tube station was on the line to Heathrow! My only hesitation in recommending this flat is that I hope it will be available when we book to come again (and we will.) Alison, the owner of the flat, was most accommodating and provided several useful suggestions for our stay. All of the appliances are new and work superbly. And the bed linens and mattresses made for a cloud-like sleep experience. Definitely a 10 out of 10 !

Location is my first priority when choosing a place to stay. This sweet Covent Garden apartment is in one of the best--in the heart of things, yet quiet. Alison was a delight to work with. The photos on the website are very accurate. We were four adult women who perfectly fit in this terrific find.

Clean, centrally located, and best-in-class hospitality from the owners. We were met at the apartment, with a kitchen pre-stocked with a few necessities (always a plus for a family with young children). The apartment itself is beautiful. Tastefully, even fashionably, furnished. Well equipped with kitchen stuff. Definately on our list for future trips to London.

We had a wonderful time staying in this clean, welcoming apartment. It was truly home from home and the central location made it ideal for a visit to London. We could walk anywhere and with two teenagers it was a true blessing to have some private space. The welcoming Christmas mince pies were a wonderful gesture and was very much appreciated. It is ideal for up to 4 persons. Thank you again!

This was a wonderful apartment and provided an ideal way for us to enjoy the very best of London. My husband and I stayed here with our two adult sons for 8 days in October, 2008. The apartment was clean and beautifully appointed - it felt like a high-end hotel. The kitchen and bath were quite modern and the kitchen was well stocked with essentials. There was plenty of room for all of us to relax and enjoy after a long day of sightseeing. The apartment is in a perfect location. It's a short walk to the shopping and excitement of Covent Garden - we loved watching the street buskers! The tube is only a few steps away, which made it very easy to get around. Even better, the apartment is right in the heart of the theatre district. We bought half-price tickets every morning and walked to the show every night. I would definitely recommend this apartment!

We enjoyed your apartment immensely. It is in a perfect location, two short blocks from the Covent Garden tube station, and within easy walking distance of Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, and the Tate Modern, all of which we visited. The apartment itself was brand new, quiet, and secure. The open-plan kitchen/dining/ living area was spacious and well-equipped, with a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and washer/ dryer. Our son and his wife also stayed with us for a few days, and there was plenty of room for the four of us. A sofa bed in the living room provides additional sleeping space. Several historic pubs were steps away. Nearby, M&S and Tesco's provided hearty takeaway meals, and London's best cheese shop, Neals Yard Dairy, was also just a few minutes away in the Seven Dials shopping area.

Everything was awesome! The location was great, close to everything and the tube. It was clean, well-maintained and had all the amenities you need. The owners were personable and great. We would highly recommend staying at this location to anyone.

Owner response:We are delighted John & Willow enjoyed their stay. We try our hardest to make the apartment 'home from home' and offer a truly personal service.

Covent garden apartment

Fantastic location!!! - absolutely the best place to be for a short visit to London: we walked everywhere. Marks & Spencers just around the corner for all the foodstuffs you might want & more. A minute from the tube station. Flat was spotless and extremely comfortable (great beds!). Couldn't open the windows because of the noise from the construction opposite which made it hot & sticky in August. (of course, construction's temporary & will probably have finished by now - street noise was minimal otherwise) Table fans in the bedrooms helped; would be useful to have one for the living room too. Perfect size for 4 - found it a bit cramped for 5- even though there were beds for all of us, there wasn't room round the dining table for us all. Alison was there when we arrived and spent time showing us how everything worked in the well equipped kitchen. Up to date copy of Time Out magazine and lots of maps, including a London A-Z streetfinder - invaluable! Little touches like this and the basic foods in the fridge made us feel very welcome. We'd definitely recommend the flat and hope to rent it again.

Superb location + friendly owners = great vacation

It's a one year anniversary since three of us rented this nice, clean and cozy apartment. It looked exactly as pictured. It had a feeling of a freshly remodeled place and we liked it a lot. Our eight year old enjoyed her own bedroom just to herself and needless to say we enjoyed this fact too. We arrived rather late at night. Alison was extremely friendly and helpful. She stayed for quite a while to show us around. Five days later Alison and Don helped us to catch a cab back to the airport. Openness and friendliness of the owners deserves a special praise. You rock! I can not add much to the location as it speaks for itself, being within a walking distance of nearly everything. The rest is easily accessible though a convenient Piccadilly line. Do not miss Belgo Centraal next door -- look it up now. The mussels and beer was fantastic. I'd not hesitate for a moment to recommend this place to a friend. In fact this is exactly what we did on a number of occasions. Nor will we hesitate to rent it again.
