Our stay at this condo was great. We were there for two weeks, and it was exactly the set up we needed. Whenever we had a problem or needed anything the condo manager was there quickly to assist us. Great place for a family.

I'll start with the bottom line by saying that we're already planning our next trip to Casa Mis Tres ales - the only question is which lucky friends/family get to join us. When you arrive on the island, you're first clue that you've chosen wisely is the impressed response of your cab driver. After a short drive, you're in a quiet, secluded area facing Cancun. The building is beautiful and the grounds maintained to perfection. The condo is on the 2nd floor with views of sparkling water from every balcony (living room and master face Cancun, back views island's lagoon), for private outdoor sunrise and sunsets. It felt bigger than our home. You can control the temperature from every room, which is really nice. The kitchen has everything you need to make a nice family meal, and plenty space to share it. The pool outside is cleaned every morning, and there are rarely more than 3 or 4 other guests using it. We saved a lot of money over playa norte bars by bringing a little cooler with drinks to the swim-up bar. The beach has beautiful white sand, and there are clubs to the north and south. As for location, it's ideal because you are within a 60 peso cab ride to anywhere on the island, and you have all the privacy of being tucked away in your own paradise. The island is amazing, with tranquil waters to the north and west, and breaking waves from the Caribbean to the east and south. The food is great - we pretty much ate fresh fish every meal. One of our favorites was amigos Restaurant on Hidalgo St - the Ceviche is the best anywhere. We also had some of the best dives of any place we've been , with great visibility and lots of fish and colorful coral. The biggest adventure was catching a 7 foot sailfish from a small panga boat. Hopefully I haven't convinced you that Isla Mujeres is a great place to visit, and Casa Mis Tres ales is not the perfect place to stay. That way, there won't be any problem getting availability for my next trip...

The staff is incredible and soo friendly. The food/restaurants on the island are wonderful! I loved everything about this place and would come back in a heartbeat!! "I had a wonderfully fantastic time with my 5 friends staying here at Puerto Al Mar. The condo is beautiful, stocked with all the necessary needs to stay for any length of time. The facility is immaculately kept, with gorgeous yard work, lovely pool, and wonderfully kind staff to help out. The condo is right on the ocean, close to a restaurant (with affordable and great food), and near the turtle sanctuary and dolphin place. It is 15 minutes by golf cart from the condo to the city center. Close enough to zip in, but nicely tucked away from all the hustle of tourism. It was very easy to get from Cancun, across the ferry, and to the condo. We took a trip from Isla Mujeres to Tulum and Xel-Ha, through USA transfer, which made it very simple to explore outside the island. I would absolutely come back here! What an amazing time!"

This condo is incredibly beautiful. It is well-managed, with very friendly staff. The views are breath taking. We easily had six people (and could have fit 2 more without a problem), and we didn't feel cramped for space at all. The condo is in excellent condition; there is a great private pool and beach space. The condo is in walking distance from a lot of great attractions (e.g., turtle rescue facility/hatchery, dining locations, dolphin park) and it is a short taxi or golf-cart ride away from the main town square. The listing does not do this place justice - it far exceeded my expectations!! I am already planning my next trip back. I would HIGHLY recommend this condo.

We had the opportunity to stay at Mis Tres Ales for a ladies week-long getaway at the end of July 2010. The Puerta al Mar condo on Isla Mujeres could not have been a more perfect setting! It offered the quiet sanctity of a private resort, with vibrant shopping and eateries only minutes away. As soon as we arrived at Puerta al Mar, we were warmly greeted by the reception staff who exceeded all of our expectations. They (especially Antonio!) went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had all necessities for the week. After obtaining a golf cart to tour around the island and explore -- it only reinforced to us that Puerta al Mar was the perfect location for peaceful serenity, while maintaining such a close locale to the hustle and bustle of Isla Mujeres. The condo itself is the epitome of modern luxury! Every bit about the place made us feel right at home, from the beautiful contemporary furnishings and decor, to the multiple balconies with amazing views. Ron and his wife were extremely accomodating and even sent us helpful tips, fact sheets, and restaurant recommendations before our travel! They basically served as an experienced travel service, free of charge! The information we received from them was extremely helpful. This turned out to be one of the best vacations we've ever had and we certainly hope to return soon!!~

My family and I stayed at Casa Mis Tres for approximately 5 days in June and we had a FABULOUS time. The entrance to the condo is exquisite and everybody that works at the condo is very friendly and helpful. The condo is absolutely beautiful with wonderful views. We enjoyed looking out at the water during sunset from the huge balcony. The condo is away from downtown which alleviates a lot of noise and traffic. In addition, there is a WONDERFUL taquiera within walking distance to the unit. We had a wonderful family trip...everybody (there were 7 of us) was extremely comfortable staying here.

This was my first incursion into Mexico, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. To my great surprise, I found a treasure in Isla Mujeres and this condo unit made my week stay all the more beautiful. When my friends and I arrived, all of the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen were immaculately clean. Then, there's the view and balcony...so, so nice. I honestly could've just lounged out there my entire stay and would have been completely content. I highly recommend a stay in this unit. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful with questions prior to going. Directions to the property were spot on. When I return to Isla Mujeres, I'm definitely staying here again!

We had the opportunity to stay on Isla Mujeres mid-January. WOW is all I can say! This was the first time my husband and I flew out of the country with our two young sons (ages 4 and 6) and what an incredible trip it was! To be honest, I was apprehensive at first. However, Ron was very helpful with putting my mind at ease, and was available to give us hints and tips we would not have known otherwise. (Be sure to ask him for his tip sheet, which is very informative.) Not only is the owner amazing, but the condo is breath taking. Seriously, the pictures do not give it justice!! It has marble floors throughout, recessed doors, and AMAZING views. My favorite was the recessed doors... The view at sunset is something that cannot be described. Also, we liked that the kitchen is equipped with everything we could have needed to cook delicious meals, minus the food. (There were condiments in the fridge and basics in the cupboard.) The condo building itself is equally as impressive. There is a gym, a nice pool, and friendly staff. I also love the location. It is quiet, yet only a quick golf cart or taxi ride to the market. Since we have returned home, the boys have asked constantly when we can go back. As a mother, nothing warms my heart more. I feel so fortunate to have found a place that we will be visiting for many years to come!

Our stay at the Puerta al Mar condo exceeded our expectations. The minute you walk in the condo you are greeted by the most beautiful views of the beach, aqua-blue sea, and white sandy beach. The condo itself is gorgeous. Surrounded by elegant furniture, a kitchen with all the amenities, and incredible views from the piazzas.... you quickly switch to 'vacation mode'. Luxury is the word that immediately comes to mind. The owner's of the condo also provide a very helpful list of Isla restaurants, bars, and attractions. The owner actually spoke with us about the many attractions on the island including some of his family's favorites. I have and would continue to recommend a stay at Punta al Mar to my friends, family and fellow travelers.

We just returned from Casa Mis Tres Ales in Isla Mujeres and have nothing but compliments for Ron and his condo. Ron is apparently a professor at the medical school in Charleston, and is an extremely helpful owner. Before the trip we called him several times and he was extremely helpful with advice. The condo is his second home, and he only rents to couples or families, not 'spring breakers'. He says he is trying to build a clientel of repeat customers who will love the place and treat the condo like their own. I think it is a great idea, and the condo really shows this. There is an elevator completely equipped kitchen, and the guests that preceded us left us spices, unopened softdrinks and canned goods, and even some wine. The kitchen is fantastic and saved us about $500 because we used it for breakfasts and half the lunches. The beds are just like ron says...super comfortable. Two have private balconies overlooking the water, and the third balcony is along the living room. It opens up the living and dining area into a giant indoor outdoor place to take lunch while looking over the pool or beach or just lounge around watching the sun set on the water. The complex is very small, with just about 20 or 25 other units, and we really didn't have to share the pool or the beach with more than 5 or 6 other people at a time, so even though this is a great family place, I think it would be very nice as a romantic spot for a couple too. We were worried that we would be far away from the 'action' at north beach, but this turned out not to be the case...it was about a 6 dollar cab ride and after the first day of constantly being approached on the north beach to buy clothes hammocks or other 'substances' we were happy to be back on our own private beach and not worrying about the kids being approached by strangers. The pool is right on the beach, and like ron says, you can watch one child in the pool and the other on the beach from the same place on the pool deck. There was not too many pool chairs, but ron tells me they are getting many more. It was nice to be able to get out of the midday sun and watch tv (it has cable) and the teenagers appreciated the wireless internet. Dvd players for the tv's are a nice touch to keep our youngest entertained when we wanted him out of the sun. Ron has really set this place up like a comfortable home, an apparently has some children himself, so he has set it up very well for families. overall we can't wait to return!

My stay in this condo was absolutely amazing. The fact that the entire wall facing the ocean is basically a window which slides in, opening up the entire face of the condo to the blue water, was a selling point for this accommodation. The kitchen is set up in such a way that you can prep and cook while talking to your company and facing the water. There is plenty of lounge space as every room in the condo has a large porch. The feeling of the condo is open, clean, calm, and refreshing. The beds are comfortable, the natural light is bright, the ceilings are high and the pool is huge!! I also liked that the condo is located a little away from the center of town. The drive is just a few minutes, while still being able to maintain a feeling of being closer to the natural beauty of this special island. I will stay here next time I am in Isla Mujeres.

This condo is located closer to the southern end of Isla Mujeres where there is still allot of construction going on and not much to do. The North end of this island is where the ferry is and the shops and restaurants and the main beach. But it isn't that big of a deal to rent a moped or bike or golf cart to get to where the heart of the island is. It costs about $5 USD to get there from the ferry. I think this condo will be really nice in a few years when more people occupy the building and there is more life in general. You could tell the condo/building was very new and almost vacant... The kitchen was great to have if you wanted to cook at the condo which we did a few times. There were even some cooking products like oil and garlic and spaghetti that had been left to use which was nice. The decor was tasteful for the most part but the pictures make it appear more "high end". The wooden furniture had been recently stained and the smell penetrated the entire unit... therefore the doors needed to be open at all times. The master bedroom was very comfortable and there was a TV in there (with pretty much no channels but we did have our ipods to hook up to it). The living room furniture was not comfortable- stiff- and we didn't use the living area once. The condo is definitely a work in progress. Maybe some color on the walls, plants, complimentary bicycles to use, and new living room furniture would take this condo from a 3 star to a 5 star. There was complimentary clean water in a large bottle and a washing machine and dryer which were practical. Ron was really nice and easy going as far as working with and since it was only my boyfriend and I and it was lower season, he gave us a better deal.
Owner response:Dana, thank you for writing. And thank you for the compliment regarding my flexibility and the like-new condition of the condo. It appears that you were also concerned about a few things. Specifically, you noted that the beach and condo area (pool, elevators, etc.) were relatively secluded and the condo complex of 25 units relatively vacant. Well, guilty as charged. I like to say that we are the "anti-Cancun." If you are looking for crowds on the beach and crowds in your pool area and living space, this place is not for you. If you want a sandy beach entirely to yourself, and owner occupied units that are vacant second homes about half the time, laundry facilities, and a private gym area, well, we might be the ones to call. Of course, as you note the busy north end where the main town is located is a five dollar, five minute cab ride away, in case anyone needs their 'touristic fix.' You raised a few other points I would like to address: As for any construction in the area; the nearest work is more than 1/2 mile away, whereas in the north beach area, not one, not a single hotel or condo, is more than 1/8 mile from a construction site....the price of progress. You also noted a problem with the cable to the two televisions. You are correct that there was a problem with the cable because when you were there, we were changing our system over to Cablemas from satellite. By December 15, we should have over 30 channels and even faster wireless internet than we do now. You also noted that the furniture in the living room was not as comfortable as it could have been. Virtually all the furniture in the unit was hand made by a carpenter, Luis Alberto, that lives directly across the lagoon from the condo. I felt very strongly that I should help the local economy and employ an islander to build my furniture, rather than go to a warehouse store. Of 83 guests so far, you are the first to comment that it was not comfortable, but I will ask a few of the other prior guests to get their opinion. However, I was just there for a week when I was married in April, and I thought the furniture came out quite nicely and was very comfortable, but I will defer to the opinions of my guests in this matter. Overall, I appreciate your noting my flexibility of dealing with guests in my future home (I hope one day), and I appreciate that you took the time to write the review for me. Ron

Words cannot describe how great this condo is and what a wonderful vacation I had with my family. Condo has an amazing view and doors across back of condo to provide feeling that you are right over the water. Pool was fabulous. Not crowded and staff were friendly and helpful. The condo is located in the south end of the island - we had a golf cart the entire trip and it took only five minutes to get downtown. Located near the subdivisions where the locals live - easy access to great local food and shops. On top of all of this -- the beds are out of this world comfortable. This is one posh condo and one incredible island! I almost hope that it remains "undiscovered" so we can keep this family secret to ourselves! Thanks for the great stay!
