  Thanks to the owner for making the reservation process including quotes quick and efficient.Upon arrival we encountered an issue with our reservation involving a miscommunication. We called the owner and she handled the situation immediately and much to our satisfaction. We stayed in this lovely home for 6 nights. A couple of times we needed items ie. firewood and an outside lightbulb. These were provided in a timely manner.We enjoyed a lovely family get together with my 2 children,their spouses and 2 small grand children. This home is definitely family friendly. The house is wonderfully appointed and there was enough room for everyone to have plenty of living space. Testament to the fact that my children are still talking to one another and to us. We did alot of cooking and eating while staying there. The kitchen had all of the items that we needed to make our meals, and the wood fireplace allowed for a fun s'more making experience. Our vacation was during the winter, the area was great for sledding, snowshoeing and hiking. There was even an extra sled at the house for us to use. The town of Galena is always good for a day of shopping.Our trip is never complete without going to see the Bald eagles along the Mississippi in Dubuque or buying bread from the sisters in Sinsawana. We had access to the territory owner's club where we were able to work out and take the little ones swimming. In addition, the house was equipped with multiple games,cards books,movies and puzzles. There was no excuse to be bored The surrounding area is beautiful. Hard to believe we were still in Illinois. We are looking forward to our next visit in the warmer months so we can make use of the large screen porch and the outdoor fire pit.

  We stayed for 2 nights at Ted & Jens house in Galena. It was an excellent spot for 3 couples to share - we enjoyed the surroundings - watching a couple deer in the back yard in the morning and the house is well equiped with everything you would need! Galena is a great town to walk around in, many nice shops and good eats! I would definately recommend this house for anyone wanting a getaway! Wayne & Teri, Steve & Kris, Bob & Sue

  We go on a mystery every year with four couples and this year it was our turn, we had a great time in Galena and even better time at the house. All was good, plenty of room with four bed rooms and with three baths. The Kitchen had all the things we needed for us to cook and the screened in porch was perfect for our grill night and cards and games.Pool was so relaxing and clean. The grill worked very well and the steaks were the best!! Thanks for a great place to stay and we will be back, Al&Kerrie

  We had an awesome time in the Galena Retreat....Our whole family of 9 celebrated Grandma's 80th Birthday. Lounging around before breakfast was the best. We made homemade pizza, lots of snacks and the kitchen had every we needed. The town a Galena was very nice, the weather couldn't have been better with the mild winter we have had. But...it was snowing like crazy up at Chestnut Mountain where we went for lunch. The house is just as it is pictured, very nice accomodations, we never built a fire in the fireplace as the weather was so mild, but would have been nice if we did. The 2 TV rooms were nice for the guys to watch some golf and the ladies could watch a movie. Our dog enjoyed the scenery as well!!! Thanks for the opportunity to rent this property and the buy 2/stay 3 is what sealed our deal!!!

  We stayed at this beautiful Galena home over this past Thanksgiving holiday and had a great time! The home was a perfect setup to result in a very comfortable stay for our family of 6 adults and 4 children. It was exactly as described in the ad and we were pleased with how well it fit our needs. The kitchen was even fully stocked with all the cooking utensils needed to fix a Thanksgiving dinner for the 10 of us! The Galena Territories area, where this home is located, is absolutely gorgeous with lots of hiking paths around the small lake which isn't far from the house. The town of Galena is only a short drive (10 mins at most to downtown) and is such a great place to visit with lots to do and see...we had no time to be bored during the 4 days/3 nights that we stayed here! Jennifer, the home owner, was easy to work with and everything went smoothely from start to finish for our mini-vacation at this home! I would highly recommend staying here and would love to go back soon!

  my husband and i along with our children and grandchildren found this lovely home to be just what we needed. a perfect set-up to relax and then join in all of the activites in the area. the first time that we have rented and found everything working properly!! ir was easy to keep neat and tidy and we hope to have and opportunity to be there again. thank you, jennifer for being so pleasant and accessible. we would definitely recommend this property to our friends. our family traveled to the crystal lake cave---it was a new experience for the children. we also enjoyed riding horses, paddleboating, swimming, shopping and dining in galena and chestnut mountain with the alpine sleds.

  Great place to stay, it was quiet, comfortable, and very clean. The kitchen was exceptionally well furnished with cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. Another big plus; the owner was very helpful via email and phone calls - I was a first time renter with many questions.

  This was one of the wisest travel arrangements I have ever made. We were in Galena for my daughters nearby college graduation. My family and extended family were all there for the graduation. Three separate families stayed in the house with additional relatives staying nearby. After the graduation ceremony, we all came back to the house for a catered dinner. We were able to enjoy our celebration dinner at the house. It was well equipped with everything we needed. I had never rented a house before, and would highly recommend this house. We all enjoyed our stay. Everything about the way this house is set up was perfect for my family. There is enough space to enjoy each others company, without being on top of each other like many hotels. We all enjoyed the books that were there for us to read. My entire family enjoyed making smores on the fire pit. I was able to take many beautiful pictures with the setting on the deck. This house was everything I had hoped it would be for such a special occasion and more. Jennifer was also very helpful. I would highly recommend this house for people of all ages. I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity allows.

  We are a group of 4 couples who have been visiting the Galena area since 1996 we have stayed in many different homes in the territory all have claimed to be fully equiped NONE have been until we tayed at this one we are used to bringing most of our own utensils, pots pans and any other item that should be in a kitchen forfunatly this year I came up ahead of the group wiyh my family and forgot my crok pot to my pleasent surprize this home has a crok pot and has I checked out the kitchen I found that this home had everything that we could possibly want including Starbuks coffee and Folger's and a great coffee pot to brew it in plus a caraf to keep one pot hot as another is brewing. We actualy had a table with 8 chairs in a home that sleeps 8 people that seems to be a real problem in many houses that we have rented and enough big fluffy towels to go around and change them as needed. the firewood was the so easy to start that all the starter logs went back home loved the kitchen pantry I dont know what else to tell you because I want this house availabe for me already made resevations for 2 weekends next year
