Just 14 km south of Majahual, Villa Costa Maya beach house is located along the last 60 miles of the powdered coral sand shores of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Between the musically soft-breaking, inviting surf (less than 30 yards from your terrace) and the second largest barrier reef 1/4 mile offshore, lies the sparkling emerald green waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Beyond, where sea meets sky, you can sense the majesty of creation and behold planet Earth's graceful curvature.
You are 20 minutes from Majahual where restaurants and shops are rebuilding following Hurricane Dean from last Summer. Here you can shop for grocery basics, book fishing trips, scuba dives, and Mayan ruins. Or just hang with other tourists along the new 3 km malecon running through town (under construction Winter/Spring 2008).
Forty five minutes south, discover the town of Xcalak, where you can book a trip to Ambergris Caye in Belize, or sample more fabulous local restaurants. A trip to Chinchorro bank is a must for scuba enthusiasts.
Within 2 hours drive, the capital city of Chetumal offers up several supermarket food choices, a trip to the zoo, as well as cultural museum tours. The more adventurous can take a bus trip to Guatemala for a tour of the Mayan ruins of Tikal (allow several days for this excursion).
Some vacationers come to the area for sun and sea, snorkel and scuba. Some want to tour the many Mayan ruins nearby. Most come to escape the brassy, Americanized tourist destinations to the north around Cancun, and to discover a romantic getaway. At Villa Costa Maya, you will find a private, isolated sandy beach with no drop offs, no turtle grass, and no motorized watercraft. Our gracious caretakers, Mario and Angelina, are here full time to assist you with cleaning and provide security. You will also find excellent beach road conditions to town, plus easy access to the main highway.
The spacious terrace is perfect for couples young and old looking for a quiet place to unwind and escape. Children old enough to swim will appreciate the underwater sea life as well as the gentle surf. The bathroom will delight the senses with colorful wall tile, walk-in shower, and brushed nickel fixtures.
Intricate and classic inlaid floor tiles extend throughout the living room and dining room. White ceiling fans grace the 9 foot ceilings. Expansive sliding glass doors constantly invite you to enjoy the sweeping views from our tiled terrace. The well-equipped kitchen/dining room area features hand made mahogany table and chairs. The kitchen boasts full-size refrigerator, as well as kitchen bar with stools.
When it's time for sleep, relax in our queen size bed featuring another gorgeous ocean view. The 2 closets can accommodate "his" and "hers" clothing. Cross-ventilation has been carefully designed into each room of the house to maximize the nearly constant tropical breezes.
