This wonderful house is Vashon Island's ONLY VRBO PROPERTY offering a pristine sandy beach on the warm, sunny Puget Sound east side of the Island and within easy distance from the Seattle ferry. It's 180-degree view soars over an 11-mile expanse of water towards majestic snow-capped Mt. Rainier. While only 4 minutes by car from the Seattle Ferry dock, it enjoys perfect quiet due to the protection of Dolphin Point. Augmenting this exclusiveness is its “Residents-Only” access road. The house is located on over two miles of open beach from the Vashon Ferry Dock to the Muckelshoot Shellfish Reserve. It includes Winghaven, your neighborhood park, which is a little-frequented kayaking destination with walk/paddle-only accessibility and which has an area for frisbee or croquet (provided). The only thing left to do is read Betty McDonald's 'Onions in the Stew', written about this beach from her house nearby.
Imagine an evening soak in the Tiger River deluxe spa, stars overhead and city lights in the distance! Its Freshwater ozone filtration system requires only minute chlorine for freshness. Enjoy the hydromassage jets or just soak in the quiet of the waves on the beach.
Enjoy views from every room. Prepare meals while virtually floating over Puget Sound with the music of the waves on the beach 8 feet from your house. Morning coffee or an evening cocktail from one of the lanais, privacy for two while the others do the dishes? BBQ at the Waterfront? Dine at the deck’s picnic table or at the dinner table for 8 in the expansive living area? Relax on leather couches. Private bedrooms feature comfortable plush beds (no 'hide-a-beds' in the living room!). The game room downstairs features X Box, Nintendo, board games, kids books, and toys. Enjoy beachcombing, beachglass gathering, and low tide wildlife viewing (guidebooks provided).
Paddle the house canoe, walk the beach, walk 20 minutes to the Ferry Dock's restaurant for dinner or drinks in their waterfront bar. The latte stand there is open for early risers. Our newly famous La Boucherie, a farm-to-restaurant, reservations only, gem graces Vashon town. Or, stroll onto the West Seattle Ferry for a fun ride to Endolyne Joe's Eatery for a variety of menu items and Northwest brews on tap. The Passenger-Only boat will transport you to fabulous Elliot Bay and downtown Seattle and back in the afternoon (cheap cruise).
Walking south, pass Winghaven Park to the huge tract of land owned by the Mukleshoot Indians. The tribe has a small oyster and gooey duck clam hatchery on its beach. The town of Vashon is 6 just miles away by car. It offers a gourmet grocery with excellent wine offerings, open-air Saturday farmer’s market, specialty shops, bookstores, fine restaurants, art galleries, bakeries, movie theater and more.
Please note: House is not suitible for parties or large family gatherings. We have an 8 person maximum occupancy at any one time, day or night. Parking is limited to 2 standard size cars.

The owners were super easy to work with which made the experience even more enjoyable! Now, the waterfront dream home is worth every penny and more, its a spacious and well kept, clean home. The owner are passionate about their home and it shows, it was perfect for a peaceful girls weekend! My friends and I can't wait to return to this beautiful home! :)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: We so much enjoy providing the house to "women's retreats"! The ladies love the view and being so close to the water without even having to leave the house , especially in winter, if they don't want to. On deck hot tub is next fav. with terry robes right there. The new kitchen with EVERYTHING is next so yummy cooking happens. We personally appreciate our visitor's the enthusiasm for the place, which we share. Thanks for the great post!

We stayed her over the New Year"s holiday with another couple and what can I say yes the stairs are challenging, but worth it when you reach the house and look at the amazing view. This house has everything you could need. On New Year's eve we where in the hot tub and at midnight when the fireworks started it was incredible. It is better then what it shows. Jim and Christine thank you so much for allowing us into your little piece of heaven. Carlos, Maria, Rosanna and Frank.Recommended for: People with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: We have great visitors! House attracts people who really love natural beauty and who can walk down the short trail to get to the waterfront. The house is not suitable for folks with troubles walking, so sorry, and we cannot welcome pets. Dolphins, otters, eagles, seals and an occasional orca can substitute for pets . I left out seagulls, deer and racoons. They come too.

My wife and I hosted three other couples at this Vashon Island location for a 35-year high school reunion. One couple wanted to watch the Giants in post-season baseball on TV. One couple wanted to go stand-up paddling on Puget Sound. Another wanted to walk in the many Vashon waterfront parks. Another wanted to enjoy the local Vashon culture. All of us enjoyed fresh food from the local Thrifway and gourmet meals in the well-appointed kitchen. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this house; lots of space, clean rooms, hot tub, lots of hot water, the wood stove, the views of Puget Sound, local birds, the walk along to the beach to the Ferry terminal, picking local apples, meeting the neighbors... The owners are also exceptionally nice and love the area themselves. You can tell. I sincerely recommend this house for just about any event I can think of. We had a great time. Finally, the listing was very accurate as I had never seen the location before staying there - I was very impressed. The owners also gave a thorough tour of all the features available.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals, and in many rentals on Vashon, and this house ranks right at the top---beautiful location, clean and spacious, tons of thoughtful extras, attentive owners, and reasonable priced! Perfect for a family or group of 6, extremely private and relaxing, and well situated just a few minutes from downtown. Driveway and steps down to house take some attention to navigate, but the payoff comes as soon as you see that lovely beach and postcard view of Mount Rainier!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Greatly enjoyed our time at this beautiful property over spring break. The weather was typical for March, so we didn't have a chance to use the canoe or the outdoor activities provided, but we enjoyed snuggling up to the wood stove, visiting while soaking in the hot tub, and spending time together in the game room. Wonderful wine and beer selection at the local Vashon Market! The view is beautiful and the home is charming. Thank you to our hosts Jim and Christine for a great introduction to the home and the area.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

This property is a great place for 6 or so people. The house is very comfortable with a nice big kitchen dining room and living room. The hot tub is sheltered beside the house...but still has a fantastic view. The big "wonderful" surprise was the amazing view of Mount Rainier. The trail from the parking lot to house is challenging for older or disabled folks (and should be taken into consideration)...but fine for others.Did you find this review helpful? What a wonderful place for a vacation. The views from the home of Puget Sound and Mt Rainier are spectacular, and if you're familiar with the beaches in Puget Sound which are very rocky... their beach is actually sand! What an experience to see deer walking down the beach and see otters playing right outside your doorstep. The little town of Vashon is fun and has great places to eat as well as shops to browse thru and art galleries filled with local artists wares. We will definitely be back for another vacation!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Six of us rented this house for the weekend as a special way to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. We had an absolutely wonderful time and really enjoyed the place. Given that it was November, we mostly cozied up inside and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. It was exactly what we were looking for and had amazing views of the Puget Sound. We made full use of the kitchen, which has just about everything and anything you might need. The owners were very friendly and relaxed and the house itself was very home-y. It was really a special weekend and super fun. I only wish we could've stayed longer! But now we know which place on Vashon to rent in the future. I can only imagine how great it would be in the summer with the large outdoor deck, outdoor eating balcony off the kitchen, and the beach only steps from the house. It's only a quick ferry ride from Seattle but feels like a world away. Definitely try to get this place!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

About the owner: We are sailors and ardent water/wildlive lovers.
Why the Owner Chose Vashon Island:
We searched for years to find the 'perfect' waterfront property. We finally gave up. The very next day, we found IT. Read whatever philosophy into this you like, but it is truly a 'dream house' in every way for us.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
With an acre of land behind it, long sandy beaches, big tides, large tracts of land nearby, the house is so serene!. We love beachcombing or trail hiking, our boat out in front for day sails. We glean firewood from logs afloat and mushroom hunt in the cooler seasons.
