Wonderful family getaway

Thank you David for allowing us to stay at your home. It was clean and comfortable for my family of five and dog. We had plenty of room and plenty of activities were available. We enjoyed hiking Boogerman Trail, skiing and snowboarding at Cataloochee, daily walks in your neighborhood, many terrific restaurants (Garlic Knots, Snappy's, Joey's Pancake House and The Sweet Onion were our favs), and we found the daily homemade soup at Hillbilly Market to be a necessity during our stay. The house was nicely stocked with paper products, soaps and laundry supplies. The kids, ages 10, 8 and 7 got to see and play in the snow that fell during our stay. If we make it back to the area, we will be contacting you! Thanks again!

Happy Travelers, Again!

This is our 2nd visit to Maggie Cottage and again we were not disappointed. We were reminded, yet again, at what an excellent Rental Property this is. Dave & Debra are wonderful hosts. Their attention to detail made my preparation for our stay so much easier. We look forward to returning here again! Let me just mention a few points of interest for your Guests. Don't miss out on viewing the Elk! The time & ride are nothing compared to the experience. Even in rain, the Male in all his Glory, herding his Harem and hearing his eerie, otherworldly Bugle echoing off the Cataloochee Valley walls is an experience you will never forget! Water Rock Knob at Ml. 450 off the Blue Ridge Parkway is an excellent spot for Sunrise or Sunset Pictures. Visit the local Falls; Mingus Falls in Cherokee is impressive and only a short walk from the parking lot. Cherokee . . . For every Hokey Souvenir Shop there is also some very authentic Indian places that never fail to teach us more about there culture. Cafe Riel, behind the Hot Spot Gas Station on Business 441 in Franklin. Who would have thought to find an authentic French Cafe sharing a building with a Gas Station! The Fugitive Movie Train wreck along the river, off Haywood Rd. in Dillsboro. Check it out! And Maggie Cottage, always a pleasure to return to at the end of an adventure. Thanks again

Everything was great! Weather was beautiful and the house is beautiful. The most relaxing week I have had in years. Very easy access road. Clean, stocked, owners are very easy to contact if need. I have already recommended this property to 2 family members. Thanks for allowing us to vacation in your beautiful home.

Maggie Cottage was everything it offered and more. Never before did we stay at such a well appointed vacation house. We usually always need the "extras" we bring from home: quality sheets, extra towels, kitchen utensils for the "serious cook", but Maggie Cottage had it all! Supplying Paper Goods and Trash Pickup was a small but much appreciated touch. The Beds and Bedding was extremely comfortable. The Hot Tub, sized for 2, is well situated to offer privacy and a view of the stars. The House is on "Slight Hill" for Maggie Valley Standards. Easy to walk, even for a Flatlander Floridians as ourselves. Don't miss out on bringing the Horses below a carrot or apple, you'll be glad you did! Just one suggestion David and Debra...Don't change a thing!

No view--no place to sit in living room

Guest: last time (Hudson Fl)
Date of Stay: 07/25/10 Review Submitted: 08/26/10

The owners seem to be only interested in appearing to be nice. Get everthing in writing. The parking is bad to say the least. Your parking brakes had better be in good shape. No view except cars going past in the night. Living room furniture leaves a lot to be desired. Not much of it either. Nothing comfortable. No cellphone service. There is a local phone that does work. Lots of nice rentals in the area but I don't consider this to be anything special. Be careful driving on the narrow one way roads as many people do not know they are one way. Very poor customer service. Really few if any quality-restaurants. We tried them all and would not return to any outside of Waynesville. Plan on doing your own cooking. Closest store about 6 miles. Just a small subdivision full of trees and homes that are close together. Lots of loud TV's and trucks and cycles. There are better places to spend a week, there are few places with things to do and enjoy. I can not recommend this property or Maggie Valley to anyone with or without children. Hudson Fl

Owner response:Every once in a while, you get a guest who just isn't happy with anything. This review seems to have more to with the area than our house. We suggest reading the rest of the reviews for Maggie Cottage. The owners.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!

Guest: Stephanie&Parents (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

Maggie Cottage was the perfect place for our family vacation this year! The house was spacious and supplied with all the amenities needed for our week-long stay. There were only four of us this year, but the house would have easily accommodated two more people. It was centrally located to Waynesville for necessities, Asheville for tourist activities, river rafting, sight-seeing, numerous eateries and quaint shops. All of which we enjoyed during our stay. While most of these places were not far away, we never felt "close to everything". The house was located in an area with other houses in view, however we rarely saw or heard others around. The kitchen was wonderful for cooking family breakfast and dinners. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious. Sufficient room for sitting, visiting or just watching some television. The porch and patio were great for sitting outside and enjoying the peaceful surroundings (much different than the loud south FL environment!). Internet access was invaluable. Also, the laundry facilities and hot tub were an extra bonus! There was not one thing missing that was needed to make the stay easy and effortless! The owners were extremely pleasant and efficient with billing, payment, questions and directions. We were very thankful for their communication and care about making our stay a nice and happy one! I spent three weeks researching properties in the area, comparing prices, amenities and reviews. I am very pleased with our final decision to stay at Maggie Cottage in Maggie Valley and would recommend this to other family and friends.

What a week at the cottage!

We may never stay in a hotel again! The cottage was all we hoped for and more. Quiet, tucked away and secluded, it was the perfect place to relax after a day of riding around in the mountains. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for some peace, quiet and all the comforts of home. We cooked, we relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the sound of birdsongs. What a wonderful vacation!

My wife, dog and I stayed at Maggie Cottage for 4 weeks in July. The cottage was extremely clean and well appointed. My wife is a great cook and I am a grilling aficionado. Both of us found that everything we needed was right there in the kitchen or stowed away nicely with the grill in the garage. Any specialty things we needed were 15 minutes away at Wal-Mart. The house had tons of room; we loved having the options of sitting all the way outside, on the screened-in sun porch, on the day bed, on the couch, or at the kitchen table. It was a very pleasant place to catch up on reading and relax. The neighborhood was very beautiful, we took walks 1 or 2 times per day. The location could not have been any better. There were restaurants and a produce stand just a short walk away, and all of the area's attractions were easily accessible by car. We had never been to North Carolina before, but really enjoyed our stay. Maggie cottage was a big part of that enjoyment, and we are making plans to stay there this summer as well! The owners,David and Debra, were extremely pleasant to work with. They graciously accommodated us and our dog and bent over backwards to add wireless Internet service for us. They were excellent hosts!

We like the previous guests enjoyed our 40th Anniversary at Maggie Cottage. We enjoyed the mountain experience very much, and got to see the surrounding areas with their shops. We would highly recommend Maggie Cottage to all, it was impeccably clean and well appointed, and the hot tub was an added plus. To those who follow enjoy Maggie Cottage. It was a pleasure to work with the home owners David and Debra and their prompt attention to detail and professionalism was outstanding.

We stayed in Maggie Cottage to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The cottage was perfect for us. It was very clean and well-stocked with everything you need. We found the Maggie Valley location perfect for exploring the entire Smokey Mnt region. The cottage is in a very quiet area and we felt we had plenty of privacy without being in the middle of nowhere. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind after a day of hiking and exploring. We would definitely recommend Maggie Cottage to anyone wanting a mountain get away.
