My husband and I - along with 5 other adults and three small children - truly enjoyed our stay in this home! The property was super clean, in a great location and stocked with lots of extras to make us feel at home. We loved the rooftop deck and large porch for blowing bubbles, strumming the guitar and just relaxing in the breeze. The large driveway made parking our vehicles and boat no problem. Thanks so much for providing such a lovely getaway for us.

I rented this condo for myself and colleagues while we were in Amelia Island for the Concours d' Elegance. The home was perfect - great for our group, the scenery was incredible, and the entire rental process was easy from start to finish. Everything was amazing from the start -- the owner is easy to work with and very nice, the house was in great condition, parking is perfect for a large group, 2 units makes for a happy house- everyone has their own space. Free long distance is great, as the cell service can be spotty on the island, rooftop deck is perfect to lay out, have a drink and look out at the ocean. I will rent this house again in the future & cannot think of a negative thing about it.

We the Connolly's want to thank Shannon for such a wonderful, relaxing place to stay! The home was decorated beautifully, VERY clean, and with every amenity possible. We especially enjoyed the rooftop deck, the views were amazing! Both Bijoux and Diesel our dogs enjoyed lounging on the decks and running on the beach, and also cooling off in the air conditioning! We hadn't rented a beach house since I was a kid, and this brought back great memories. The Surf restaurant, and Moon River Pizza are top knotch, also 29 South is killer! Shops are great, and the guys loved the fishing. Plenty to do, and a comfortable haven to go back to. We will definitely stay again! Thanks Shannon!!

Perfect Getaway after Deployment

I am completely skeptical about doing things online, but I didn't have much of a choice, with my sweetheart deployed in Iraq, we could only "look" together via the internet for a vacation destination for after he came home. I have a co-worker who visits Fernandina Beach with her family annually and loves it and neither of us had ever been so that is why we chose it. Shannon really worked with us since our original dates were already taken. The house was GREAT and really did have everything we needed so our vacation was all that much more enjoyable. The beach access is literally right across the street and couldn't have been more perfect! We cooked dinner on the grill each night and ate on the rooftop deck, enjoying some wine and the view! This house was one of the only houses we could find that had the rooftop deck and it was BEAUTIFUL to be able to look out and see dolphins a few evenings. We like to visit places we've never been when we travel, but we would definitely return to Amelia Island and rent this house all over again. The 1st floor comfortably housed the 2 of us and my sister and niece in the other room so if you need more space, go for the 2nd floor. If you're looking at this listing, deciding on if you should rent it, DO IT! You won't regret it! It was worth going out of my "comfort zone."

Girls (?) and Dogs

My friend and our dogs have stayed in many cottages and cabins.. This ranks high on my list!! Rooftop deck was selling point , but others include the gate that gave freedom to our dogs, and especially it only being rented to one client at a time. We had upstairs unit and all the privacy and quiet that we needed. Location, access to beach, tasteful decorating, downstairs shed, outside shower , hose for dogs, back yard and being equipped with all one needs. Unit was spacious, comfortable and very clean!!! 2 Retired school principals...really enjoyed our stay! Owners were helpful and gracious. We shall return!!!

Wonderful Family Vacation

This house was perfect for our extended family. I believe we used every square inch over the week. We were in town for a wedding and the house turned out to be a meeting spot for everyone. The simple beach access, porches, roof top deck and proximity to downtown Fernandina were excellent. Beautiful views from the rooftop deck and a constant breeze made it a comfortable place to be even in the heat. The teens enjoyed the movie selection and watched at least one per night. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back and stay here again. Thanks so much!

Great Holiday Rental

This was my first time using VRBO so I didn't know what to expect but found this property to exceed my expectations. We brought a large family group so rented both top and bottom unit and everyone had a great time. The units have everything you could possibly think of, including beach towels and toys, and adequate cooking supplies to fix a family style dinner. Everything was as represented in the posting or better and Shannon is a dream to work with. Don't get turned off by the fact that this property is not directly on the ocean. The views are great and the access is right across the street. Thanks again Shannon - we willdefinitely be back!.

Perfect beach holiday location

My husband and I and our 2 Golden Retrievers spent a week at this beautifully decorated, nicely landscaped and very clean home in May 2011. The walk to the miles-long beach takes just minutes with an access almost directly across the street. The porch and upper deck were great spots to relax - we really appreciated the closed-in area for our dogs and they loved watching all the activity on the street below. The house is well situated to enjoy shopping and sightseeing and the residential area was great for walking. The kitchen has all of the essential elements for cooking and the BBQ was a nice treat. The beds are very comfortable with beautiful linens. We will definitely be back!

Our family has been visiting Amelia Island for the past 20+ years and this house is undoubtedly the "BEST" place we have rented. I can't say enough good things about the rental. It's super clean, well stocked, a short walk to the beach and the upstairs deck is amazing. Shannon is wonderful to work with and we were sad to find out the house is booked the week of our summer vacation.

This is one of the best rentals we have been fortunate to find. The proximity to the beach was great and made it so easy to go back and forth. The house had everything we needed right dwon to beach towels and chairs. We spent our evenings having dinner on the roof and enjoying the perfect weather and the ocean views. Shannon was so easy to work with and we were grateful that she allowed us early check in as the house was ready and we had an early flight. Although we never needed it there was plenty of inside entertainment available. Thanks for offering such a family friendly, easy to get away to vacation rental. I will certainly recommend you to anyone looking to stay in that area.

When I think of a wonderfully relaxing time, I think of my stay here on Amelia Island.You would have to stay at this cottage to understand it's beauty. The pictures do not do it justice. I don't know if it was the large sunny deck that looks out over the ocean, with the sound of the waves lulling you to sleep at night, or the "at home" feel you got with these great accomodations. This place has everything! We rented both units and had an absolute blast. The kids loved the ability to walk across the street to the beach...without us tagging along. Even the weather cooperated! I can't thank the owner, Shannon, for all her help. She made this wonderful experience seemless and she was soooo easy to work with. All in all, this was the best....I will definitely stay here again and I will tell all my friends about this magical place. I'll just make sure I book early...

My family lives in Fernandina so we tend to visit often. I wish we would have found this place sooner. Everything was described perfectly on line. The owners were a pleasure to work with and provided us with new "home-a-way" from home location. The roof-top deck was a huge bonus. The views were amazing. If you are looking for a stress free vacation home, this is it! I strongly suggest renting this home.

Nice House...beware of owner

This is a great house everything is how it is described however I was left feeling ripped off by the owner. We rented both upstairs and downstairs. I will admit we were about 30 minutes late checking out but this was because we went an extra mile to make sure everything was done so the security deposit not be lost. Upon checking out my biggest fear was we had forgot to start the upstairs washing machine and would have never thought we would lose the security deposit due to the maid having to work a little harder than after a normal stay to include using resolve on a spot on carpet. There is a problem when the security deposit is suppose to cover damage to property not cleaning the house, we had already paid the cleaning deposit which is nonrefundable. The owner had stated in an email she would be on the property upon check out at 10 am which she was not. This might have left a better impression to explain the reasons the deposit was not refunded rather than hearsay over the phone. The owner also stated in her explanation that she was unaware it would be a group of groomsmen from a wedding that she was under the impression it would be the groom's family when on the rental agreement the names and ages of the guests were given. There was no damage to the property or anything broken. Also beware the maid is a friend of the owner, this was learned prior to checking in which left me with concern about my deposit.

Owner response:During our phone conversation you stated you completely understood why I had to hold some of your deposit check. You were even apologetic on the phone. I'm blown away with your review . My housekeeper was promptly there at 10am to clean the home however there were so many cars in the driveway she couldn't get in so she waited across the street at the beach access and your son was aware she was there waiting because I spoke with him by phone. She couldn't get into the home until 10:50. (almost a hour late) and she had to clean both units Luckily the next guest was checking into the upstairs only. The home was used for a wedding "Party" and it showed. In the lease agreement it clearly states no house parties and no under age drinking and I think both of those rules were broken. As explained to you, someone had vomitted down the side of the master bedroom bed and onto the carpet (and didn't try to clean it up). A beer bottle was thrown at the front door (inside) and there was shattered glass all over the blinds not to mention a small dent where the beer bottle hit. Someone also "missed " the toilet while standing up to relieve themself. Food was dropped all over the kitchen floor then walked on and ground in. Beer was spilled on the bedroom carpet and extra time had to be used to clean and deodorize the carpet. Both homes were rented although the upstairs was left acceptable, the downstairs was by far the worst I've seen my home left in the years I've been renting it. I personally had to drive 1 1/2 hours each way to help her clean in order to get the home ready for the next guest. I strive for good ratings and have always returned everyones damage deposit. Yours, sir, is the first one I've ever considered keeping a portion of. You told me on the phone that the cleaning of "puke" was unacceptable and to give my cleaning lady (and yes, she is a friend of mine, too) extra money for her time. You told me you were sorry the home was left that way and to keep the entire deposit for the aggravation of the whole ordeal. I'm extremely disappointed you wrote this review instead of picking up the phone to talk with me. Last we spoke you were kind and understanding and insisted I keep the entire deposit. The writing of your review was uncalled for and in my opinion bad form. I'm thankful this was only a 2 day rental. My damage deposit is a small one and this experience makes me want to raise it.

We really loved this beach home! Everything you need is included and the roof deck is absolutely awesome. As my family would drive down the beach street we would feel sorry for all the homes without a roof deck. Also beach access is just a VERY short walk across the street. I must say this was the best beach house I have ever rented. From the very first contact with the owner every thing was just so perfectly organized that we had know communication problems of any kind during the entire stay. This beach house was absolutely gorgeous, unusually well equiped, freshly painted, very very clean and well maintained. My family loved the location and the surrounding activities. We had such a great experience from start to finish that we have already book another stay.

I suprised my wife by renting this home for our anniversary. She has been wanting to visit Amelia Island and I feel we were lucky to find such nice accommodations. Both of us love to golf and there are plenty of golf courses in the area to choose from. We even took a quick drive into Jacksonville and played at the TPC. It was nice after a long day of golfing to come back to this relaxing home. We found ourselves on the rooftop deck every night. Everything from the rooftop deck to the private outdoor shower was a treat. I can't thank you enough for sharing this home with us.

A Beach Home with Great Beach ( and lots to do)

We stayed two months in this very comfortable, immaculately clean unit. The owners were available if needed, and very pro-active about renovating and keeping their rental home in perfect condition. With our Westie,we spent a lot of time on the beach with its handy entrance just across the street. We went for long walks and searches for shells and sharks teeth. Often we saw dolphins and pelicans offshore! The beach itself is wide, has hard sand for easy walking and it's accessible to dogs on a leash--wonderful! We found that Fernandina Beach is a town with lots going on: live theatre, an excellent history museum, live music, terrific restaurants ( e.g." Sliders " on Fletcher Ave.), a farmer's market every Saturday and very friendly merchants in downtown Fernandina Beach. The rental and the location offered us a very relaxing, very enjoyable January and February!

I thought the this rental was perfect for us. We had my children and grandchlidren staying in the upstairs unit, and we really enjoyed the easy access to the beach, the views of the ocean, and the great town of Fernandina Beach. I cannot recommend this property more highly. What a great bargain!

This was the perfect vacation spot for our family to spend our "once a year" get together. We are a diverse bunch, old folks like husband and myself, middle aged like my daughter and her husband, young adults like 20 year old sons and a youngster, 9 year old granddaughter. AND we all had a great time. There was something for everyone, old folks shopped, walked the beach and enjoyed the upper deck and its fantastic views. My daughter and her husband took our granddaughter, a horse lover, on a cruise to watch the wild horses swim from one island to the mainland. They also saw dolphins and learned a great deal about the history of the islands and its unique wildlife. The two young men, on last break before returning to college were not left out. There were almost 300 movies to watch and lots of video games with multiple controllers. If the granddaughter had not shown them up at boogie boarding it would have been a perfect vacation for them!. I knew this vacation was a family success when my son suggested we repeat it again next year!. .

We enjoyed everything about your home and have had a wonderful week here. For the first part of the week, our daughter and her two children were with us...and now it is just the two "old folks." We have been pleased with the cleanliness of the house, the easy access to the beach, but more than anything, we have enjoyed the large deck on top, where we have spent time both in the cool of the morning, and the starlit evenings. Your online description was accurate and helpful. Thank you! The only time so far that we have eaten out was lunch yesterday at T Ray's. Such fun to go into this old gas station, be greeted by the man, himself, and eat the delicious home cooking there. Another place we went in town was the ice cream parlor on the main street. Yum.

We had a fantastic stay at your house and Amelia Island. We had not been to the island in 5 years and we were very pleased to see the growth of the area. But never too crowded in town or on the beach. Perfect beach access from your home and easy to get to everything on the island. I really enjoyed the upper deck, perfect at night to listen to the waves and watch the stars, and caught a few shooting stars too! We had everything we needed and plenty of room.

You are right accross from the public beach access - which makes it nice to go back and forth from the beach. The upstairs deck has a great view and is perfect for happy hour! RELAXING WEEK, GREAT COTTAGE

We so enjoyed our time at your upstairs cottage. Shannon, you were great to work with, and we appreciate going to a cottage supplied with linens and other necessities. The entire cottage was spotless, but we really appreciated how nice the baths were, especially the large master bath. There were plenty of utensils and dishes for cooking, too. Access to the beach is a breeze; we and our dogs loved walking on it. The gate at the top of the stairs, outdoor shower, Internet access, and extensive DVD collection were also great features. We have always enjoyed visiting Amelia, but this was our most relaxing and fun trip yet, with much of the credit due to this great beach house. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Perfect Beach Cottage!

Just back from a week at the beach and this adorable cottage! Went down with a friend and we rented the upstairs unit. Perfect space to each have our own bed and bath, location was primo to beach easy to walk up for lunch, love the downstairs shower room to rinse off. Pefect decks, rooftop and 2nd floor for cocktails and relaxing in the evenings. Amenities were well stocked and cottage colors/decor inviting, tasteful, not overdone, love the simple cream, white and beige. Very comfortable, crisp and clean down to nicely kept lawn! Also, great location as close proximity to historic Fernandina and Amelia Island. Will be back for sure, think this is a treasure!!

This was a great beach house for our long weekend getaway. We loved the rooftop deck and the second story porch. The outdoor shower was a great place to wash off after a long day on the beach. We look for dog-friendly getaways and this was a great one. The house was clean and cozy and the beach was an absolute playground for our dogs. Thank you for a great weekend!

We spent two weeks here in March, 2010 and had a wonderful stay.The unit is just as described, very fully equipped so you don't have to spend time getting settled in and buying salt and paper towels. It's very comfortable and attractive, and the friendly owners are right nearby if needed but not intrusive. It's a very short walk across the street to a simply beautful, huge beach, which is wonderful to walk anytime of day or night. Everything was well maintained, clean and handy. The new deck up top is great for just relaxing and enjoying the sun. We enjoyed going to all the nearby State parks for walks, it's a great area for hiking trails. The Little Simon Island Park ranger has maps of all the nearby hiking spots.

I arrived at the property today. The hosts were most accomodating!--I needed the internet password. The rooftop beachview is wonderful, and the beach itself is just a few steps away. Everything is here for you to relax. If these things weren't the best, i just wentthrough the fantastic MASSIVE movie collection to pick my favorite 50 or so...every genre imaginable, even stand up comedy! Took an hour to go through them all...this is one great place to veg out, and there's nothing like a sunrise from this area! (used to live in St. Augustine) Ralph

We and another family spent Thanksgiving together in your beautiful place. Having both upstairs and downstairs worked well with 10 of us, including our adult children. The surf was even great on Thanksgiving for the surfing dad and sons! Last year we rented a place north of yours, but we were were so happy to find your beautifully decorated and equipped home. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our big meal and we could use the front deck to dine. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful home with us. You have every detail taken care of!

We enjoyed our time at your home very much. It was so convenient and close to everthing. The dogs had so much fun meeting the neighbors, who made us feel very welcome. We had everything we needed to have a wonderful vacation. The view from the rooftop deck is great and we really enjoyed sitting to look at the stars. The only thing missing was a telescope and the names of constellations. We would definitely like to stay here again.

We had a wonderful time in your beautiful beach house. It was a great place for all the family to be together. The location of the house is very convenient to everything that we enjoy-beach and shopping! The kids described watching the firework's on the 4th from the top deck as "AWESOME". Shannon, Thank you so much for such an enjoyable experience renting your beautiful home at Fernandina Beach! Our group was able to reconnect and relax for a long weekend at the beautiful home, just across the street from the ocean. The dogs had a blast as well! The house was so clean and well stocked with great amenities - the rooftop deck was awesome! And thanks so much for the great recommendation to brunch at Cafe Karibou with the dogs on Sunday morning after checkout - it was a fantastic shady spot with great food! We hope to be able to stay in your beautiful home again sometime!

Shannon and Alan, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful beach house, we've come home with lots of wonderful new Fernandina memories. This was our third visit to Fernandina, we enjoyed the comfort and convenient location, very close to the beach, a short trip to Historic Fernandina, dining, and shopping. While the roof top deck is fantastic, we spent many hours on the equally enjoyable front porch. The house offers everything you need for a relaxing vacation and with WIFI you still have the option to stay connected if you wish. When we asked to extend our stay for another night (still wishing we would have had time for another week), Shannon was very helpful and arranged for it without a problem. We'd love to be back and will keep your page bookmarked!

Alan & Shannon, We truly enjoyed our extended stay of two months at your beach house. Your beach house was better than we could have expected! This was our first trip to Amelia Island and your beach house was top notch. Super clean, comfy and everything is provided to make your vacation enjoyable. The location is perfect with only a few steps to the beach and minutes to the historic district. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend your beach house to others.

Beautiful home! We had an absolutely wonderful time. It was fabulous for my husband's birthday party. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived. We rented both levels and the layout accomodated our group perfectly. The owners were wonderful to work with and were very flexible. We cannot wait to come back.
