Our stunning apartment has a front row view with five windows on the main piazza of Cetona recognized as one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Tuscany and featured in "The Most Beautiful Villages of Tuscany". Here, everything you need is on your doorstep: restaurants, cafes, markets, grocery stores selling local delicacies. You can make last-minute plans to dine out and not have to drive along miles of unpaved roads from some remote farmhouse. In fact, if you don't feel like driving, you can take a cab to Chiusi, ten minutes away, and hop on a train to Rome, Florence and anywhere else that takes your fancy.
The tourist office is across the square from the apartment and has maps of local hikes and many suggestions of what to do in the area. In addition, we provide our own "insider's guide". Many guests have commented that they have found our recommendations have been key to their enjoyment of Cetona and neighbouring towns.
The apartment dates from the mid 1700s and has coffered ceilings, frescoes and many other lovely features. It is on the first floor (2nd floor U.S.)and consists of a huge room comprising kitchen/dining/living room with original terracotta tiles, with two windows onto the piazza. The long refectory-style table is pefect for get-togethers of up to ten people. Oriental rugs and the marvellous frescoed walls make you feel as if you are in another age.
There is a study, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two bedrooms have a view onto a courtyard garden, the other onto the piazza. The apartment is very spacious covering 2,700 sq ft (230 mq).
A separate room on the mezzanine contains a washing machine and dryer. There is also a communal terrace overlooking a verdant tranquil courtyard.

Year Purchased: 2007
We are the Mannino family. I am Philippa, my husband is Gaetano and our son is Seth. My husband is Italian, I am English. We met in Rome when he was in his last year of university and I was working for the UN. Since we married, we have moved continually between Italy and the US, with a two year stay in Venezuela. Our son, Seth, who was born in the US, is living in Chicago.
Why the Owner Chose Cetona
Over the years we came to know Tuscany well and found that it was an excellent meeting point for friends we had made in various parts of Italy and Europe. Besides, who can turn down an invitation to stay in Tuscany! We used to stay in the glorious countryside of the Val d'Orcia area of Tuscany, but Cetona is much more convenient being a 15 minute drive from the Rome-Florence highway. The countryside is beautiful and it is never swamped with tourists. Another convenience is the excellent rail service from Chiusi (10 minutes away) to just about anywhere in Italy.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
We fell in love with the wide sweep of Piazza Garibaldi and revel in being at the centre of an ever changing canvas of activity. Our windows onto the piazza are the best seats in the house. So much goes on in our piazza: festivals, dinners, religious events. It is such a treat not to have to get in the car to go to the grocery store; everything is on our doorstep. The weekly market on Saturday mornings provide an occasion to buy everything from the freshest produce to the latest fashions.
