Location: Keaau, Puna District, Big Island, Hawaii, USA (20 Min. from Hilo and 30 Min. from Volcanoes National Park)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Completed in February 2008, this completely furnished three bedroom home now awaits your family’s Hawaiian vacation! A full-acre lot near the ocean gives you complete privacy and relaxation. Yet, it’s close to scores of unique places to visit and things to do.
In the morning, wake up and get a view of Mauna Kea, covered with snow, from the kitchen window. Step outside and you’ll hear the surf crashing along the coast. In the evening, sit on the lanai and gaze into a brilliant crystal-clear sky so bright, you’ll feel like you could reach up and touch the stars!
The Ohana (Family) Paradise Home is ideal for the family who is wishing to experience the Hawaiian culture in an affordable manner. We all realize the difficulty the poor economy is causing the average family. So, it was our goal to make a dream vacation possible for everyone.
When you make your reservation, you’ll receive a personal visitors’ guide, written by us, complete with pictures of places and activities that cost little or nothing. Easy to follow directions help you find those spots most locals keep to themselves.
Three bedrooms allow you to bring the whole family or join with other couples for a dream vacation on a budget. The house is fully equipped with a whirlpool bath, big screen televisions, surround sound, a state-of-the art security system for your peace of mind, and ultra-comfortable beds and furniture.
A complete modern kitchen allows you to eat at home when you choose not to eat at a restaurant. When you can stock up on sweet tree ripened fruit and delicious vegetables at the Maku’u Farmers’ Market, which is one of Hawaii’s largest and only minutes away, cooking is is always an adventure and never a chore. But, when it’s time to eat out, nearby Keaau, Pahoa and Hilo offer a wide range of fantastic restaurants (from homemade pizza to authentic Hawaiian to exotic Thai).
The environment is truly rural Hawaii, yet you’re only twenty minutes from the heart of Hilo. The Hilo area is the “green side” of the island with lush green foliage and many waterfalls. You can drive around the island easily in a day. You will travel through eleven ecosystems on your trip.
You will see jungle, grassland, deserts, and even arctic snow-covered mountains in the winter. Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and the active Kilauea volcanoes have helped to create beaches of every type and color (black, white, and even green). You’ll discover the Big Island really does have it all: from relaxing geothermal-heated ocean tide pools to snow skiing and everything in between!
If you want to vacation with no activities other than lying on a sandy beach and a small room with maid service, this home is not for you. We’d recommend the luxury hotels in Waikiki or Kona, instead. But, the cost per day will be about the same as a week at the Ohana Paradise Home.
