Date entered: 05/14/2012 We had a fantastic time! Your house, as you know, is so beautiful! And with the pool and jacuzzi and the ocean at our disposal, it was a trip we will always remember. The week went so fast! Your kitchen was very well stocked, and David, who is an excellent cook, made me some wonderful breakfasts and dinners there! We had such a wonderful week at your home, and we are definitely planning on returning. We thought that next time we would bring my parents or another couple with us. This time, it was an anniversary celebration just for the two of us! Thanks again for everything! Guest city-state/province: Las Vegas, NV

Our expectations were high after reading all the glowing reviews of this property. And incredibly enough, our expectations were exceeded! I used to work for a destination club, so I have a lot of experience with high end vacation homes. This property could have easily been in our portfolio. The house was very comfortable, well-kept and met our needs nicely. It was outfitted extremely well, both in the kitchen and general amenities. And the views from the back deck were just stunning (tons of sea turtles). And perhaps the best part was the amazing weather we had during our stay - sunny skies every day! You will not be disappointed with this property, and for the cost, it's an absolute steal! Be sure to check out the Kapoho tide pools nearby - incredible snorkeling!

After the loss of my mother, our family chose to continue with our plans for a family vacation. This home is stunning and extremely comfortable. They have everything that you need! Our evenings were spent listening to the birds and wildlife and days by the pool and exploring the Island. We had 10 people; including 3 children 4, 6, and 9 and at no time did you feel crowded. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home and making our first trip to Hawaii wonderful - we hope to return some day. Mahalo!

08/27 - 09/03/2011 Thank you from the bottom of our heart for a Fabulous week at Mika Kai. Coming from a chilly Tasmanian winter, we have thawed beautifully & relaxed totally! We love the Big Island. We drove around to Kailua Kona, but were very glad we chose this side of the Big Island to stay. We loved the bikes & rode along the beach road a few times. Also loved all the comforts - plenty of everything. So much more family friendly than a condo. We enjoyed cooking in the great kitchen & on the BBQ & have tried lots of fish & foods we don't see at home. Altogether a magical week. Something we will remember for a very long time to come! From one island family to another, thank you - mahalo! Guest city-state/province: Tasmania, Australia

Hello Jamie, Thank you for a wonderful home and all the amenities as well. The garage was perfect to store our bikes when not using them, the filtered water was a blessing as well. We are serious riders but not Pros like in the TDF. Mauna Kea was sheer brutality on the body , mind and spirit but to complete such a climb is so special, the feeling spiritual. 7 hours in the saddle. We started at the Zero marker in Hilo, go to the Saddleback in a little over 3 hours , made that right turn up to Mauna Kea.. Breath taking sunset... We are now in Maui for tomorrows climb up Haleakala.. Heading home on Monday... Thanks again for the views, the comfortable beds, all the extras and some nice cool rain :))

Our 4 teenagers wants to buy the house!!!! We were lucky to rent this house and I recommend it . The volcano park was less than 45 minutes. we did a 3 hours hike. What a wonderful stay! We'd wake up early before the sunrise, soak in the hot tub until second breakfast, and swim with the fish in the late afternoon at high tide. Some of the most incredible sights were the new black sand beach at Kalapana, driving around the mouth of Kilauea, and the stargazing at Mauna Kea visitor center. We had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing your house with us and making our honeymoon so special!

Aloha, We were awestruck upon our arrival at the front gate of Mika Kai! Visiting your grand domain paradise became more wonderful every step of our stay. We planned this vacation last summer and it has exceeded our expectations. The internet doesn't do Mika Kai justice. What a beautiful and enchanted property. You have thought of almost everything. This is our third trip to the Hawaiian Islands, first on the Big Island. Your calm breezes, magnificent thunder of the surf, intense sunlight, majestic clouds, and gentle rain showers are soothing to the soul. Brilliant color abounds in the flora and fauna. The affectionate serenade of the birds and frogs create a theraputic tranquility. We are saddended to leave this haven called Mika Kai, but life goes on. You will be in our hearts and in our minds, hoping to return again someday! Mahalo. Guest city-state/province: Windsor, CA

What a wonderful time we had at Mika Kai. Our host were thoughtful as we were greeted upon arrival with a basket of goodies left for us on the table. We were able to view and enjoy the sights (sea turtles and whales) right from the back deck. The grounds were quite beautiful as well with mature trees and and plenty of hibiscus in constant bloom. It was our bit of paradise! The home was well stocked with everything from pool toys, snorkel gear, lanterns, bicylces right down to the spices in the kitchen cabinet. You don't get that with a time share. My entire family has been talking about our experience with our friends since we came home and we all highly recommend Mika Kai and the Aloha spirit of it's owners. We definitely look forward to the day when we can all return again. Mahalo!

What a wonderful stay in Paradise--The beauty and comfort of Mika Kai made our vacation. With all of the wonderful sights and sounds here, it was hard to leave and explore all of the other wonders of the big island, but we did and enjoyed the adventure on going north on both coasts. And the excitement to the senses continued for all of our time here especially with the tsunami warning and our race to higher ground. What an adventure our whole week here was and we Thank You for providing this beautiful home for our staying pleasure. I hope our journey finds us here again some day. Mahalo.

Having never been to Hawaii before, we were very excited about our visit. We hoped that the on line pictures were accurate about your home. It was everything we could have hoped for! Whales every day, turtles that we lost count of, and a two day high surf advisary that gave us waves that crashed onto our shore that you couldn't imagine! Awesome. We haven't felt peace, quiet, and relaxation like we did here except up in the wilderness of Northern Saskatchawan(but with far fewer bugs here). Thank you so much for giving our first trip to the islands memories that we will keep forever. Guest city-state/province: Alberta, Canada

This was our first trip to Hawaii, and all others will be judged by this place. We arrived at night so had no idea how close to the ocean we actually were. The house was magnificent, and came with enough snorkel gear for all five of us to make use of. Bikes, a beautiful kitchen, near the end of the road, the peace and quiet, the list goes on and on. Oh, and the turtles and whales that you can watch right off the lanai!! Thank you for a fantastic introduction to the Big Island Jamie.

Mika Kai is a well-stocked property, clean and inviting. There were Hawaiian goodies waiting for us when we arrived and the pictures of the property were accurate. Close by Pahoa town offers unique and delicious food and the Kapoho tide pools (some of the best snorkeling in the world) are a 20 minute trip away.

We stayed at Mika Kai for 5 nights and it was too short to explore this side of the Island. The house is wonderful and we were amazed by all the little touches (pool toys, snorkle equipment, coolers, chairs, wonderfully stocked kitchen, guide books, movies, books for young kids, pack n'play, flashlights for walk to lava viewing, bug spray.... you name it- it's there). House is great for kids too as the whole yard is fenced so there was no fear that they could sneak out/wander off and get too close to the ocean. We hadn't thought too much about this concern (pool was a bigger concern) until we got there- it was a HUGE relief! The sound of the frogs at night was amazing. Nice to have a quiet dirt road to take walks on. Having a computer there was wonderful too as you could put "time in at the office" if you wanted to. Management company was really responsive and on top of things. We will be back for sure!
