I was in Amsterdam for 11 days in November and my girlfriend and I stayed here and we LOVED it! The apartment is beautiful and the owners are very nice and hospitable. When we arrived, John met us at the door and showed us around the apartment. It was very clean, very well-maintained and perfect for us. It was larger than I expected and had all the comforts of home. It is located within walking distance to anything that you will want to do or see in Amsterdam. It is about a five minute walk from Central Station and it is also within walking distance to other tram stations from where you can go anywhere you'd like in the city. I would recommend this property without hesitation, and when I return to Amsterdam, this will be the place that I stay.

This beautiful apartment is in a fabulous area of Amsterdam. Anything you could want is within walking distance. At night it is very peaceful which is great for sleeping, and in the morning you can watch the mothers and their children biking or walking to school. The apartment was immaculate with an extremely comfortable bed. Huge windows, huge bathroom, and two terrific red leather couches. John has thought of everything to make his renters comfortable - endless towels, umbrellas, rain ponchos, a booklet of information about the appliances and the area - he has left nothing out. Having a washer and a dryer (unusual) is very convenient. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

My husband and I just got back from 2 weeks in the Netherlands and Belgium. Our first 5 nights we spent in John's fantastic apartment. I have read some of the other reviews and they don't exaggerate when they rave about the style, location and cleanliness of this apartment. We've rented many times in Italy and France and I don't think any of them could beat this place. The apartment's location is really fantastic. A few times we had a light dinner with a bottle of wine by the huge windows, watching the boats, bikes and people go by. When I told an Amsterdam local that we were staying on Heerengracht he was quite impressed - it really is great neighborhood. John recommended we rent bicycles from the shop across the canal. For 10 euros a day we had complete mobility and felt as local as it is possible to feel during a short stay. One of the nicest treats was being able to wash and dry all of our laundry before heading off for the rest of our vacation. If we return to Amsterdam (and we may - it was a fantastic city) we will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this property for the second time in March 2011. We had previously stayed in March 2010, and it would be very difficult to visit Amsterdam and stay anywhere else but Herengracht 2! The apartment is beautiful with a huge living room overlooking a very busy canal. We loved to people watch right from the living room with the hustle and bustle of pedestrians, bicycles and canal boats going by. The bedroom located on the lower level is next to a huge bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is larger than some hotel rooms that we've stayed in with a huge tub and stand up shower. John, the owner could not have been more accomodating and nice. He was always smiling and happy whenever we ran into him coming or going. He was available at any time and lent us his Tom Tom GPS when we had to travel outside of Amsterdam in a rental car. The location of the apartment is perfect, about a 5-7 minute walk to Central Station, so therefore easy access to the airport or other parts of the Netherlands. It is also right next to the Jordan which has nice shops and restaurants, and close to Dam Square and the Red Light District. If you stay here, I'm sure you will be more than happy with everything this apartment has to offer.

Perfect - just plain perfect!!! We got soooo lost in Amsterdam (part of the charm), but we could always hop on anything to get to Central Station and walk the 5-10 minutes back to the apartment. Why bother stopping for coffee, when we could make the best in our apartment with the Senseo machine and pods? John is so sweet - even though we only talked when arriving, we knew he was there if we needed anything. The apartment is wonderful - so nice to just sit in the living room and take in the view. I loved staying in this apartment, the price was completely fair and I wouldn't consider coming back to Amsterdam if I couldn't stay here. LOVED it!!!

We visited Amsterdam in October 2010 and stayed in the apartment. What a beautiful property in such a trendy and chic area of Amsterdam! We were personally met by John the owner who was very accommodating and showed us the apartment and the local areas nearby. A renovated, modern, clean, and very chic apartment that offered all the necessary amenities for a very comfortable stay! It is in a very central and convenient location. It has many restaurants, bars, and cafes nearby. This was the best apartment we stayed at in all of Europe. The photos don’t do it justice! It is so much nicer than the photos show – very impressive property! We would highly recommend this apartment to any of our friends and relatives! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks again John, we really enjoyed Amsterdam!

We just returned from five nights in Heerengracht 2 and could not be more pleased with the experience. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and there are loads of maps and Amsterdam guides available in the house. The apartment is spacious and welcoming with all of the comforts of home. The historic home has been tastefully restored and decorated and the location is quiet and yet central. The home sits at the intersection of two canals and offers easy access to everything you would want, including excellent local restaurants and lovely canal walks. The bed is the most comfortable we have ever experienced and the bathroom with separate shower and soaking tub was modern and spotless. If ever we return to Amsterdam, our trip would be timed to ensure we can once again stay at Heerengracht 2.

We spent 10 days at this lovely apartment in April. We really enjoyed our corner location on the Queen's Birthday. We really enjoyed living among the locals. Grocery store was just a few blocks away. The owners were really nice, and we really enjoyed the large rooms and the comfy leather sofas. Never had to trip over our suitcases. Good supply of CDs and travel books. This was so much better than an hotel room and my first experience with VRBO. We are seniors and it was easy to roll our suitcases from the train station to the apartment. It is always interesting to do your laundry in a foreign country. We did not buy tram tickets, but instead chose the Stop and Go bus (van) whose route is nearby. Just one euro a trip. It got us close to almost any sight. The tulips at Keukenhof were amazing, and be sure to visit Haarlam.

We had a great time staying at the Heerengracht! The apartment is spacious and has a beautiful view, it is quiet and we slept very well. The owners are very nice, and we also used the folding chairs to sit outside on the bridge for "a borrel". I would say this is one of the nicest parts of Amsterdam to be in, and also close to Central Station. We rented bikes, which is is always the best way to get around in Amsterdam. We would definitely like to stay here again!

We enjoyed 3 nights in this great little apartment on the beautiful Herengracht. Such a great place to stay if you want to taste a bit of Amsterdam life and style. So much better than your typical hotel stay, as you have views of the Herengracht and are in walking distance to many places, such as Amsterdam Central Station, The Anne Frank house, the famous Red Light district plus many more interesting places yo visit. We will definitely be back to stay here on our next visit to Amsterdam!
