Our hearts are in Durango! From surfing & fishing coastal NC, to hiking & biking desert mountains in NV, loving the rolling green hills of Central California, the perfect coastal climate of Southern CA and now sweating in tropical Costa Rica; we have lived in what we feel are the most gorgeous parts of Creation. Durango took our breath away, we believe you'll feel the same! Not only is the landscape aweing, the people and family environment make Durango one of the most wonderful towns in the awesome USA. Beautiful weather, art galleries, opportunities for theatre, music, bountiful outdoor activities (hiking, skiing,biking, horseback riding & fly-fishing just to start!), a vast array of restaurants,seeing deer on a regular basis & a 4 year college......what more could one long for? Our parents recently bought a unit a few minutes walk away, so now Durango is truly a family affair for us!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Our condo's location and views are superb! We believe guests will share our appreciation of the condo's special qualities: it is a corner unit, only 8 units in the building, no hallways, pines around the building for privacy and a waterfall just outside our patio & Balcony. We even added a cappuccino maker (save $4 per cappuccino!) for all the coffee lovers out there. The stroll to check in the new lodge, use the pool or work out in the fitness center is just 1 minute from our front door, the plaza is a 2 minute walk, and the high speed lift (located right behind the lodge) is 3-5 minutes walk. As DMMA members, we chose the option of paying fees (included in our rates) for our unit's guests to share our priviledges to the heated outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center,tennis,& spa & ski check areas (the last 2 are optional services/charges for us too). The DMMA key also lets you walk through the Purgatory Lodge to the village and lifts, an excellent bonus! Inside, we have decorated to emphasize romance, with lots of artistic touches. Beautiful hardwood floors, Slate, Leather and local ceramics and rich colors make our condo feel like a luxurious retreat! Soft, inviting beds are particularly important to us when we travel; so we have invested in good mattresses with comfy toppers, plenty of pillows and beautiful comforters. Our home is about sharing the best qualities of travel comforts with our guests!

This is a Private Lake, Pay per day no fishing license required. There is a Celebrated local restaurant here in Summer and Fall.
Drive right across the street, 2- 3 minutes from our Door. Park at the tiny lake and enjoy a mellow couples of family hike on trails through the Aspen Forest.
You probably won't catch any large fish here, but family will love the Rock Hopping. Some time some times of year there are raspberries on the trail lined with Pines. Great Vistas of Valleys and Mountains.
Park at Lift 4 in summer and fall, Hike a little south and enjoy Incredible Vistas on CastleRock Ridge.
We absolutely Love this hike. Drive up Old Lime Creek Road, turn off and park to hike. The Hike to Spud (Potato) Lake is about 30 minutes. The hiking is beautiful, and the amber soil of the lake and huge mountain views at the end are hard to beat.

Married for almost 13 years, we are blessed with one joyful little girl. Building a Custom Home Business in Costa Rica has given us the opportunity to travel internationally several times annually. While many of our on-line vacation bookings have been pleasant surprises, others were disappointments we would not want our guests to experience. The decorating goal in our corner condo was to incorporate the most special qualities of personal lodging experiences for our guests. We hope that every guest walks in and feels they have made a wonderful choice in our home. We currently live and work in Central America; thus the condo is very special to us, so we invest in its care. Like many of you that go to Durango, we hope for the mountain to one day be our home. In the meanwhile, we love building and designing homes and pools in the tropics, while getting to know the warm people of Costa Rica. We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to provide work in a tiny community where employment and educational opportunities are limited, and are grateful for the heart that our men put in for us. It is HOT on the Pacific Coast, great for vacation, but the sun is sweltering for work 10/12 months a year; making the mountain is a real respite for us. We both agree that more snuggling happens in the cool mountain air. When we are in Durango we love to take Catalina hiking (everyday if possible) and go downtown to enjoy a great meal. Sunshine is a former high school art teacher, so time in the art galleries is always a trip high-light. We are excited for our daughter be be old enough to take art classes at the clay and art centers. We also enjoy the drive to Silverton and Ouray, the sights along the way, walking around the towns, and yummy, the pulled pork and sweet potato fries on the rooftop deck at Ouray Brewery. There is something new to discover something new every trip. We also meet great new people on almost every outing!

We stayed a week in this wonderful condo just before Christmas. I did a considerable amount of research on places to stay both in town and at the resort, and I had high expectations from the number of positive reviews from prior guests. We arrived tired from traveling and were wonderfully surprised at our new home for the week. The condo is quite large with two bedrooms and a third area with two bunks for the kids. The upstairs was very well laid out and really made the most of the space available. Our three kids found plenty to do while we were inside and the close location to the lifts was really great to get them outside and burn off some energy. We planned on cooking most of our meals and the number of available appliances and kitchen gear made cooking as easy as home. There were a wide variety of pots, pans, and small appliances to help with the preparation. Plenty of spices were also in the cabinets so we didn't need to pick up a huge list at the store. I travel for work and have become unnecessarily picky about the properties I stay in and this really was at the upper end of quality for what I would spend on a corporate account, and the value was just exceptional. The personalized shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, and lip balm was a very nice touch. It was just another example of how Sunshine goes the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Overall, I would very enthusiastically recommend this property to anyone considering staying at Purgatory. I'm trying to figure out how to make another trip, so please don't book my dates.

We stayed a total of 4 nights 5 days for my 27th birthday. It was so wonderful and homey. The home was so close to the resort and lifts it was ideal for everyone. We made wonderful dinners every night and played board games after we were done. I honestly couldn't have planned a better weekend and the home was the cherry on top. Made this vacation perfect. This was perfect for our family. The views from upstairs and down are awesome. A very cozy little place. Perfectly decorated and very inviting. I felt at home. Plenty of room for our group. All the bedrooms are downstairs which for us was great. Those that were tired before others could get ahead start on sleep without being interrupted by those of us that played games. The kitchen was the perfect size and had everything we needed and more. The location was great, easy to get in and out of when we felt the need to roam around and take pictures. We had a wonderful vacation. Loved it and will definitely go back.

We had an AMAZING summer vacation in this beautiful home! It is so warm and cozy, with stunning views of the mountains, especially from the living room and the master bedroom. We would open the windows and listen to the soothing sound of the waterfall everyday. We loved to sit on the deck and drink coffee in the mornings with the sound of the waterfall and the majestic views of the mountains and trees. We have 4 little kids, and the layout of the home was great, all the bedrooms are on the lower floor, and the living space is upstairs. Our kids loved the bunkbeds, and the huge stack of Disney movies Sunny provided! The jetted tub was a huge plus, and everything was so beautifully upgraded that we felt like we we in a 5 star resort! This unit is directly across the street from Purgatory Lodge, where the pool and fitness facility are. The pool was amazing for the kids, they loved the slide and wanted to go every day! It is heated too, which is a big plus in Colorado. Even on days in the 60's we would go and swim. Another plus is that Sunny is great to work with. Our family has rented 4 homeaway properties for vacation, and she was the quickest to respond and the most helpful out of all of them. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the mountains, this is the place for you! Thank you Sunny for one of the best vacations we have had!

My family and I plus Grandma spent Easter weekend at the condo and it was everything I had hoped for! Beautifully decorated, fully stocked kitchen and lots of entertainment to keep my kids happy. My boys (6 1/2 and 2 1/2) loved their bunk bed. It is about a 25 minute drive to Durango but a beautiful drive! While we didn't use the pool (it ended up snowing like crazy during our stay) it is a great pool and facility. Purgatory does have limited dining options, especially after the ski season closes, but we were able to find a great local pizza place and two grocery stores when we didn't want to drive into Durango. I would definitely stay at this condo again!

This condo was lovely! Clean upon arrival with wonderfully comfortable beds and high quality linens. It really felt like home. The layout was perfect for our family (2 boys and a girl). We loved the fireplace and all the games provided. The kitchen was very well stocked including spices and condiments. We cooked some amazing meals! The jacuzzi tub was a dream and we loved the clay soap from Costa Rica. Our family enjoyed the use of the hot tub and pool across the street in the lodge. My husband and I even enjoyed drinks inside while watching our kids in the pool. It was a very easy walk to the lifts. Guests should ask for the snow report at the lodge when they check in: that is how we found out about "Family Sunday" which offered a huge discount on lift tickets for our family. The owners obviously care very much about their home and want to share that with their guests. The owner was very good about communicating with us and we would definitely recommend this property. Much much better than a hotel! I wonder if they have any rental properties in Costa Rica! :)

Well, our stay in Durango is now over and we're home and back to our non-holiday routines.Just wanted to let you know what a great time we had and how wonderful your condo was for us. Aside from the great decor and comfort the location was perfect.We were able to ski down for lunch each day. Saved us the hassle of eating mountain food during our stay. BTW the people at the mountain and in Durango were so incredibly helpful and friendly. My husband got to try ski-biking and the skiing was great. This condo was a great place to stay during our family vacation/ski trip. The kids liked the bunk beds, the pool and the assortment of kids DVD's to watch in the evenings. My wife and mother in-law were very impressed with the decor, spaciousness and the view. I was very happy with the location (the ski lifts, lodge and village are a very short walk away) and that the others family members were pleased. I would recommend staying here to anyone who wanted a very nice place to stay while skiing Purgatory or visiting the Durango area.
