RELAX and be INSPIRED in a uniquely rich decor. We feel that a home's ambiance should be as memorable a part of vacation as the mountain scenery. With the goal of complementing nature, we have thoughtfully designed our home with attention to comfort, romance and sensory experience! The condo features Bruce distressed wood floors, faux painting, artwork, designer bedding, luxurious linens, wool rugs, lovely lighting, and a renovated kitchen and bathrooms. We do updates annually and work to keep our home as awesome as the year before.
Durango Mountain Resort LOCATION: Enjoy an exterior entrance in our building of only 8 units. The building is set into the cliff side by to the waterfall; with pines on 2 sides and grassy area on the other. The lodge, lifts and shopping plaza are just 1-4 minutes walk. The resort is conveniently located 30 minutes N or historic Durango. It is just 12 minutes to the Rockwood Station option for the Durango Silverton Train.
SLEEPING Arrangements: All Bedrooms are downstairs: 2 Queen Bedrooms and a Semi-Private Bunk-bed Alcove. In the MASTER Bedroom watch the sunrise over the Needles Mountains while snuggling in bed! Ralph Lauren Northern Cape Bedding is a calming and under-stated luxury. The 2nd BEDROOM features a Queen bed with Pottery Barn Simone Bedding, and a tall, narrow window. The whimsical semi-private BUNK ALCOVE also has a window and is perfect for 2 children. 2 Additional guests have a Queen SLEEPER SOFA UPSTAIRS in front of gorgeous Colorado mountain views. Condo is most comfy for 6, can sleep up to 6 adults + 2 children using sofa bed.
Luxurious BATHROOMS: There are 2 bathrooms, both with shower and tub. The downstairs bath is at the end of the hallway. The bathroom features an oversize 2 person jacuzzi tub & travertine surround. The upstairs bathroom also has a tub and shower; with warm gold travertine surround and bronze lighting and fixtures.
Important FUNCTIONAL stuff: All linens are provided. We have a Whirlpool front-load washer and dryer, wi-fi, ceiling fans in the 2 queen bedrooms, 2 flat-screen TV's, Dish TV, a stereo, a stainless gas BBQ, a Kitchen Aid Stainless dishwasher, a handy crock pot, beautiful serving dishes and lots of items for meal preparation. One parking spot is permitted at the top of the steps, additional cars go in open parking. For ski season condo has a ski locker, and a covered common area with pic-nick table for summer. Children always welcome, we have lots of children's movies and board games! Pack N play, booster seat and stair gates available with advance request.

Loved the condo! It was up to date and modern. Very clean and well kept. The balcony had a great view of the mountain. I really liked that there was an unlimited supply of wood for the fireplace which was great at night since it got a little cold. One note is that the pool is not in the same complex as the condo - but this didn't matter to me since the pool complex was only about 200 yards away. The rooms were very accommodating and the condo was better than advertised. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our balcony. DMR was less than 50 yards from our front door. We could not of asked for better ski conditions, 45 inches of snow fall in 3 days makes for great skiing/boarding. I enjoyed working with the owners. They were honest, we had no problems with the deposit refund, everything was as promised and Sunshine is a very sweet , personable, and caring person. I will definitely be lodging with Sunshine again. I can't wait to visit with my family. Of all the places I have been skiing DMR has the best variety of slopes and is very family friendly. My wife and I just spent over a week in Durango and visiting the surrounding locations (Ouray, Silverton, Ridgeway, Pagosa Springs, Telluride, Aztec, NM, Mesa Verde National Park, Wolf Creek, and Four Corners area. This was our first time to vacation on the western side of Colorado and our first time to be in the Rockies in the Fall. We enjoyed all of these locations and especially enjoyed being able to come home to this Condo every evening to relax and spend time together. This was a great time to be there because of the fall colors (golden aspen) and it was not too crowded. The owners of this condo take great pride in providing a cozy home and making sure you enjoy your stay. We have done vacation rentals several times in the past few years ... This was by far the best property and most caring owners that we have rented from in our travels and a great location for all seasons. Our family of four had a wonderful time during our recent stay at DMR. The condo was lovely and had all of the ammenities we needed. It was directly next to the lodge where the fitness center and pool were located and where all of the DMR summer activities take place. The owners were very helpful - espcially their list of things to do and suggestions of where to eat. We took their recommendation for the short hike and picnic to Spud Lake which was beautiful. We also highly recommend - for both quality and price - Steamworks Brewery in downtown Durango for lunch or dinner.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have stayed in many VRBO locations and know a quality rental property when we see them. I can truly say that this location is absolutely perfect. It is literally across the street from Purgatory lodge. It is perfect location for skiing and also great for summer (ride hermosa creek on backside). The ticket window and small square is right outside purg lodge so you basically can't get any closer w/o staying in Purg lodge. As the description states, 2 great bedrooms...very comfortable and then a bunk which our 2yr old slept in a few times (the rest with mom/dad) and will be perfect on return trips for our 2 girls. Reserved parking right out the front door so no competing with day trippers... Ski locker outside the condo was perfectly secure for overnight...and used the Purg lodge to store ski boots during walk back to condo for lunch... Full size washer dryer was nice...the grill on the back deck was a favorite and as I told sunshine the DVR for kids programs was fantastic as well. It was hard for me to even find any recommendations for improvement...it simply had everything we needed. We will be making an annual trip and will be staying with Sunshine every time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 children) had a wonderful time at, and around, Durango Mountain Resort thanks to this great condo. It was perfect: the condo location within DMR couldn't have been better - right across the way from the resort "clubhouse" (which was also spectacular); DMR is also located perfectly - close to lakes for fishing, horseback riding, and mid-way between the city of Durango and other cool towns like Silverton and Ouray. Sunshine was so nice to deal with - they were very accommodating, very easy to deal with, and returned our security deposit much faster than expected. If we return to Durango, it will be a no-brainer to return to this exact property. Thank you, Sunshine, for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful condo!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! This trip was undeniably our family's favorite trip of all time. We travel two to three times a year and stay in hotels. This was the first time we used VRBO. The website was easy to navigate and find information. Even better was the home we rented for the week. The owners of this property were courteous, responsive and most importantly honest. The pictures on the website as well as the information regarding the amenities were exact. The property was clean and well-maintained. At any time when we had a concern or question, the owners were responsive to our e-mails. The home itself felt like our own. We didn't feel like we were renting. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and feed 8 persons. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding was high end. The kids had a super time playing board games and on occassion watching some of the provided dvd's. We had immediate access to the resort pool and the location was easy for everyone to get to. The parking was great and made loading and unloading a breeze. I truly believe the experience was a success due to the dedication of the owners, Sunshine and Cody Qualls. They understand the concept of family and this was apparent in the quality of their rental and dedication to providing the best possible experience for my family. I would recommend this property to everyone interested in visiting the Durango/Silverton area. The location provides you access in each direction and becomes the middle point. There is plenty of activities and abilities to sightsee as was listed in their information. I would personally recommend the drive and hike to Spud Lake. The drive takes a bit due to the road conditions, but the hike is about 1 1/2 miles and is well worth it. Places to eat that were off the chart included Grumpy's in Silverton, Zia Taqueria in Durango, Serious Texas BBQ in Durango and a good old fashion hot dog from Purgy's at the resort. We cooked dinner four of the nights at the rental and that was the highlight of the trip. Having the complete family in one location, fellowshipping and enjoying each others company was a highlight. Sunshine and Cody's place provided an atmosphere of family, fun and peace of mind. Our family is planning on vacationing here every other year. Once you find a gem in the rough, you will keep it forever. Thank you again to Sunshine and Cody for their efforts and desire to provide a wonderful place for others to visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time in Durango and this condo was perfect for us. Plenty of room, very clean, all the amenities one could need, easy access to the lodge across the street and slopes, pool/hot tub is very nice, and we loved the views! There is very nice furniture and plenty of places to sit when wanting to hangout around the fire or TV with a great movie selection and games for the family. Overall, I would definitely go back and recommend this condo to others. About the owner: If you've yet to be completely enamored with Durango; it only takes once! We fell in love with the mountain our first March visit, purchasing a few months later. The refreshing mountain and charming down-town genuinely offer year-round fun for everyone. Our daughter reminds us weekly that she wants to go to Durango for horseback riding, hiking or skiing. We enjoy the mountain as a gathering place for family, and an escape from Costa Rica's heat. CR's beaches are stunning for vacations, ha ha; yet quite sweltering while building vacation homes. Costa Rica's heat makes one want to stay immobile on a beach blanket or wet in the ocean; whereas the refreshing mountain climate inspires family activity! Since we live in a tiny, rural coastal area with limited amenities; we appreciate Durango's down-town area too: the arts, dining, festivals, churches, parks, darling shops, the 'choo choo'! On the mountain we love: horses, rock hopping streams, Stunning hiking vistas, breathtaking lakes, fishing, the scent of the trees, the surprise snow in early May. Our hearts are torn between the tropical beauty and family-like relationships with building employees and clients in Costa Rica, and the many opportunities that Durango offers for raising children. While we dream about moving to Durango in the next decade; we hope that guests will thoroughly enjoy our home. Time spent in the open, refreshing space of mountain, is great for the soul, the smile and family relationships!

The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Lovingly Upgraded; we have spent many vacations on remodel projects, and hired a few out. Built in the early 70's, East Rim are one of few resort buildings that feel homey (only 8 units) and have exterior entrances (Hubby takes issue with condo hallways, ha ha). Our building is extra special as it is set into the cliff-side beside the waterfall, and down below the street level. Inside we opted for a mix of amber Bruce distressed hardwood flooring, slate and travertine. In addition to flooring and the kitchen, all lighting, fixtures and design elements were hand picked. We strive to care for our vacation rentals as if they were our full-time residence. We hope when guests head home; you'll remember your inside ambiance as much as the fun on the mountain.
