Why the Owner Chose South Haven
It is our hometown (we live 3 miles from the location) and South Haven is a great vacation spot, sitting right on Lake Michigan, with great shops, restaurants, outdoor activities, the best Farmer's Market, and really friendly people!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The large back yard has lots of room for our kids & grandkids; we love to lounge on the upstairs deck off the master bedroom - you can really feel the 'getaway' up there; eating together is great fun with enough room for everyone - at the huge family style dining table, spilling over to the attached lower deck when more space is needed. We can walk to the beach, downtown and Kids Corner.

Dan and Sarma Ilgenfritz are happy grandparents of 9. Dan is a general contractor and loved rehabbing the Van Buren St. Getaway house. It took 6 years, working in the off season for the complete rehab. Sarma enjoys semi-retirement by managing the vacation rental and taking care of infants at the daycare center.

My family and I just returned from the most wonderful time at this property. Thank you Sarma and Dan for having the house ready and waiting for us to enjoy. The house was perfect for all 14 of us and the location couldn't be better. We loved the short walk to the beach and downtown. Thank you for a great time in South Haven, we are definitely going to make this a summer tradition!

Thanks Sarma and Dan for a wonderful stay at your home! The house was perfect for our "family reunion". We had 8 adults and 5 small children and we fit perfectly. We really enjoyed South Haven. We had never been but we plan to return. We loved the location of the house. Very close to the beach and park and downtown. Close enough for even our 3 year old to walk. My favorite part of the stay was walking down to the beach to watch the sunset. Thanks again!

This house is beautiful! LOTS of space and really great kitchen. We had a great week in July 2009. The weekly rental fee is very reasonable. The walk to the beach is not bad at all. The owners were super friendly and really took the extra steps to make sure we had a great time. This is the first rental property we have ever stayed in that supplied so many of the basics--handsoap, detergent, toilet tissue, hairdryers!! Thanks for a great week! A great home to stay for vacation--thanks for sharing yours!

My family just returned from a week long stay the Van Buren Street Getaway. Our vacation started with an unexpected development. We had originally rented a house in Saugatuck but a storm had knocked out the power to much of the town. We got a call from the owner the morning we were to arrive and were told that there was still no power to our rental house. So we were left scrambling to find another rental house for our group of eight. We found that Dan and Sarma's home listed on VRBO was available and talked to Sarma at about 10AM. She and Dan verified that they did have power, and agreed to get the house ready for our arrival that same day at 4PM. They could not have been nicer, and their beautiful home was perfect for our group. It was so comfortable, very large and in a quaint and quiet neighborhood that was close to everything - the beach, the marina and the downtown shops. We LOVED being such a short, easy walk to the beach and spent many happy hours there. The sunsets were the best. We loved the home's huge kitchen, dining room and beautiful back deck. The bedrooms were large and quite comfortable. We could not have found a better place to fit our needs and would not hesitate to return. It was a perfect week.
