The absolute best location for a Southern California beach vacation!!
One of the few Venice Beach Vacation Rentals by Owner right ON the sand, Casa Karmina is the perfect spot for your Venice Beach or Los Angeles vacation! Maximize your enjoyment and stay right on the sand. The house was remodeled recently. Start your visit with fresh flowers from the local flower shop and a few local treats, compliments of your hostess. Watch the Pacific Ocean, surfers & sailboats from any room of the house. Dine at the table on the lower patio, right next to the sand. Or enjoy the views from the dining table on your covered lanai. Enjoy the sun and views from roof deck or the beach. Watch the kids play in the sand from your lanai. The brand new hot tub, which fits up to 6, is on the roof deck and is always at 103 degrees! Come in from the beach and use our hot/cold outdoor shower. We have lots of beach toys (including a Gigaball for the kids!!), 5 bikes, a skim board, a few boogie boards and a couple skateboard. In the winter months, RIDE OUR SLED/SAUCERS DOWN THE NEARBY SAND DUNES (a favorite for the kids!). As important as your fully equipped kitchen is your desk, with all the essential supplies (don't bring anything!), including wireless internet & shredder (wireless printing also available)--and no guilt as you will be able to multi-task by gazing out onto the beach and the surfers as you work! You may even want to spend a night out on the covered lanai (so you can tell everyone you slept on the beach, under the stars)--yes there are NO mosquitos here! All linens, as well as beach towels and blankets, rubber slippers and beach carrying basket, are provided. In the winter/spring evenings you will enjoy sitting in front of your traditional Venice artsy gas fireplace and using the 43" flat screen TV with hundreds of cable channels! There are lots of fun and interesting books in the Casa Karmina library, also many for the kids and teens.
There are numerous fun and easy activities just outside your garden gate. Take the four minute walk to colorful central Venice, Muscle Beach, street vendors, artisans & performers. Or take the short ride to Santa Monica Pier & ferris wheel/arcades. And be sure to enjoy historic Venice Pier: make it your morning or evening walk and even teach your kids to fish, just a few steps from the house. You can also take a walk in the Historic Venice Walk Streets and the Venice Canals (yes, Venice was originally modeled after Venice, Italy!) or stay along the beach and walk up to the colorful "Venice wall" or south to the Marina jetty and watch the boats come and go. And finally, enjoy the fine dining, Italian family style (famous for their "killer garlic rolls"), the highly rated Naked Sushi bar, your choice of three Mexican restaurants, or simply Starbucks or the local coffee house/deli, "The Cow's End", all just literally around the corner. And for those of you who are Karaoke lovers (or have always wanted to try!), check out The Whaler where they do Karaoke 2 nights a week. There are also many fun apparel and souvenir shops just a block away as well. A grocery store with excellent meat and produce is just a short 2 block walk. Casa Karmina is in a perfect location for access to everything you need. Once you arrive, you can spend days here without getting in your car!
Casa Karmina means "house of song", so come prepared to enjoy the extensive music library, numerous percussion instruments and upright piano...or bring your own! Don't forget your iPod--every room of the house is "iPod ready" and there is even an iPod player to take out on the beach with you! We can also arrange for live music to accompany your party or event. The beautiful side garden may be used for a reception/party for an additional fee.

Enjoy the magnificent L.A. area and all it has to offer, from this awesome home base on the beach. Ride or roller blade along the beach on the extensive bike paths, to the Santa Monica Pier or to the Marina del Rey jetty. Take a short walk to the nearby infamous Muscle Beach, skate park, children's playground, tennis/handball back boards, basketball courts or paddle tennis courts. We will help you set up a day trip to Catalina Island from nearby San Pedro Harbor. Or take off to Disneyland, The Getty, Hollywood or Universal City! Essentially all of L.A.'s pleasures are less than 45 minutes away.
We can arrange Photo Shoot on the beach for you and your family with local resident photographer, Frankie Batista. We can also arrange for your very own personal trainer for your stay--you can work out on the beach, right in front of Casa Karmina! Also available are a masseuse, and private guitar, vocal, surfing, or skateboard lessons.

Why the Owner Chose Venice Beach
I bought this property because the location is absolutely ideal. It is at the end of a block, which means more space in between the property and the next building, a nice side garden, and great views to the north! Also, the view line is directly towards the ocean, with the Venice Pier just to the left, which is lit up at night and beautiful day or night! There is also a stunning view to the left, of the Marina Jetty and the boats coming and going, and to the right, of Santa Monica Bay, Santa Monica Pier and the Malibu coastline and mountains behind. The property is also close to "Washington Square," with its many restaurants and shops. The area has a great, positive energy.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The bike path is right outside the door, which is one of the most enjoyable things to do in the area. We are also very close to the Venice Canals, which is a beautiful neighborhood to walk through, modeled after Venice, Italy. The adjacent walk streets are a historical monument and there are many beautiful gardens to enjoy. You can come here and never need a car. There is even a grocery store a short walk away. The beach, both the sand and the ocean water, are cleaner in this area than just about any other area in the Santa Monica Bay! This is a great central spot from which to enjoy the beach but to also easily access all of the sites of Los Angeles and the greater Southern California.
These are the beautiful Venice Canals, modeled after Venice, Italy. There are beautiful homes along these canals, and it's fun to walk along their frontage and over the bridges.
Venice has a wonderful library, where you can check out music, movies and books!
Abbot Kinney Blvd has wonderful shopping and restaurants. There is even a Pinkberry (frozen yogurt) in that area!
A walk to the end of Venice Pier is one of the most awesome things to do while in the area. The views are spectacular and certain times of the year you can see dolphins and even whales. Any time of
Burton Chace Park has wonderful outdoor concerts in the summer.

Intrusive "hands on" management

Casa Karmina could be a great place to stay. I gave it one star for location. It is close to local restaurants and shops. However, since it is close to these establishments, there is constant yelling and sirens throughout the night in the alleyway behind the condo. The towels smelled sour and stale. I had to wash a load of "clean" towels before using them again. There is a definite pest problem. Ants were crawling on the stove and counter tops and were such an annoyance. We found ant traps on the floors. This tells me ants are a continuing problem that needs to be addressed before renting to tenants. When stripping the beds as requested, I found stained pillows, gross! I am glad I brought my own pillow! I question cleanliness. Lastly, I wish I would have seen the prior review about the "hands-on" landlord. I have stayed in other properties with the management on sight and never saw them during our entire stay. I can't say the same about Casa Karmina. The property management was intrusive during our stay. She watered plants while we were sunbathing up stairs. She brought tenants from her other properties over because "they were bored". She did not ask for our permission to bring strange men to our all girl weekend. I am not sure what that was about, weird! I expect a certain level of privacy when I rent a condo or a hotel for that matter. Privacy is taken away when the master bedroom shares a balcony and a DOOR to the managements apartment. The ability to listen to private (so we thought were private) conversations or the ability to come into the master bedroom at anytime is just plain CREEPY! I definitely do not recommend any large groups to stay here, heck, not even "loud" families would feel welcomed here. For noise needs to be at a "whisper". Really consider other options before staying at Casa Karmina.

It was a rare pleasure to meet you and your wonderful daughters. Both me and Rosy truly appreciate genuine and creative people and feel privileged to count you among our friends. Thanks for letting us make your our 1st of many sushi dinners! Of course, the place is also wonderful and beautifully situated with an amazing ocean view… but for me, it’s the warmth of the inhabitants that made it all come alive. Casa Karmina is a unique, fabulous getaway! You can walk to all the restaurants and you can hear the ocean lull you to sleep! WOW! Incredible! We really lucked out on the February weather being in the 70's, the sunsets from the deck were unreal and the quiet mornings walking up the coast were amazing! no crowds this time of year. Casa Karmina IS non-smoking (which we appreciate). The lovely landlady, Robin is attentive to our every need. On both of our visits, we had friends over for a lunch on the deck, a jam session (there are instruments all over), a game night, a dinner as well as a superbowl party. Robin even arranged a special pampering session for me and my daughter on- GET THIS- Sunday morning AT Casa Karmina with her hairdresser. WOW! You can't find service like that anymore. Well, you can...at Casa Karmina! we can't wait to get back!

Dear Robin and Family, Casa Karmina has been a great place for our base of operations for our son’s wedding! So many things about this place contributed to making this a great week…the rooftop BBQ with the groomsmen, the relaxing hot tub, the calming and beautiful view, your recommendations for hair, dry cleaning, restaurants, etc. Thank you, thank you. There is a good chance we will be back since our son and daughter in law will be living here in Venice.

To celebrate Granny’s 70th birthday, your charming home afforded memories that will be with us always. Of all the comforts, the bikes meant the most. No, it was the hot tub. What a wonderful place!! with a perfect location!! Our family of 6 and baby loved the 4 days here. Having the bikes, roller blades and beach bats & balls is fantastic, along with the comforts of home. Thank you Robin for all your help with our lost passport! We loved being here.

Casa Karmina is a spectacular beautiful house located right on the beach on the border of Venice and Marina del Rey. Every window has beautiful spectacular views of the ocean. The location is ideal if you wish to see celebrities or if you just want to “vege” on the beach waiting for the next sunset. There is something magical here for every member of your family! We just arrived home, I will be working on my dad for our next trip. My family has had a wonderful time staying at Casa Karmina. Casa K is a gorgeous house overlooking the Pacific, providing the words most spectacular views. Awesome location. Sand at your door steps, just a few miles from the Santa Monica Pier. This is the perfect house for an active family with kids. All the amenities you could ever want are provided by the owner – hot tub, hammock, outdoor shower, bikes, paddle and tennis rackets, surf board, boogie boards, sand toys, frisbies, bats, balls, I could go on and on. I can’t think of one single thing that they do not provide. We had a fantastic time and hope to visit again! Thank you Robin and family!

The Best location on Venice Beach... on the bike path with an amazing family that opens their home to for you to take in the real California... waking up on Sunday morning & drinking coffee from The Cow's End ( 1 block way ) on the desk was heaven... hanging in the hot tub later in the day as that say in Arthur " didn't suk " The prized parking spot is " priceless " the house is everything you could ask for & the conviences of the location can't be described until you experience it ...
