I can't say enough about the Escape. The condo was beautifully decorated and comfortable - no outdated patterns, mismatched beachy furniture, or polyester bedspreads here. (Actually toyed with the idea of contacting the owner to find out their decorator's contact info!) The kitchen was a foodie's dream - from the amazing pans to the quality cutlery. And we loved being able to cook at "home" vs. having to eat out all the time. The views were lovely - nothing like waking up and watching the ocean straight from your bed! We could easily get to the beach (best sand I've ever seen), restaurants at The Sanctuary, bike paths, Night Heron Park, and more. Although I've read reviews that disagree with the approach, I LOVED having a washer and dryer on site. Less to pack and I could do my laundry before heading home! :) The owners took great care to provide us with good information of things to do on the island, as well as in nearby Charleston. We didn't head into Charleston, but I noted some of the information in the booklet being out of date. Didn't bother us, but I thought it might affect someone else. Ultimately, just a quick call before heading into the city would solve that. Before starting our vacation, I wished a shorter stay been available. But when we got down to it, having to stay an extra night in paradise wasn't such a bad thing after all. :) Would definitely select this property again if we had it to do over. A wonderful 10th anniversary made better by a wonderful place to stay.

Perfect, perfect, perfect

Everything, really everything, was beyond perfect.. Paperwork, registration, checkin great. View towards ocean indescribable. Decor from Pottery Barn (and we really like them). Will definitely go back. Anniversary (47th) meal in Ocean Room at The Santuary will always be a most pleasant memory.

Escape at Windswept Kiawah Island

Excellent time of the year for a visit. We were the only occupants in our building and there was no one in the adjacient ones either. Except for one day the weather was ideal (low to mid 60s) which made for enjoyable biking or beach walking activities. The villa was perfect for us - very relaxing and had all the amenities we could of asked for. Furniture was updated and very comfortable and the free wifi was easy to use. Carve out time to spend just on the island for either beach walking or bike riding on the 30 miles of trails. Two attractions near the island are the American Tea Plantation and the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens; both are must sees and well worth the drive. If planning to sightsee in Charleston, you need to plan for several days to get it all in and make them a total day trip. It takes a good 45 minutes to reach downtown, so you don't want to be driving to and from the island more than once. We had three full days to tour the area and it wasn't enough time to see everything and enjoy Kiawah. We will definitely plan another trip to Charleston and will make Kiawah our overnight destination. Shawn and Jeanette provide everything we asked for and more. This was a very relaxing 30th anniversary vacation and my wife and I couldn't have asked for better. 5 thumbs up!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at "the escape." We could not have found a more wonderful place at Kiawah. We are very familiar with Kiawah, as we visited in the summers before our children went off to college. Our mini-vacation was perfect! The weather was great, it rained one afternoon late. We found that the beach is so peaceful during December, just what we needed!! The owners of "the escape," have done a fantastic job decorating and maintaining this wonderful oceanfront property!! I would highly recommend it for a wonderful "getaway.". We definitely will return!!

Relaxing, luxurious and Peaceful Windswept

The villa was advertised perfectly with no negative surprises. The villa was beautiful, well kept, was stocked with everything you would need and extras to boot. This was greatly appreciated...we felt like we were in our own home with all the necessities and niceties. The owners helped let us learn about the island - from renting bikes and beach chairs/umbrellas, to providing a laminated map of the island and it's various features. We enjoyed exploring the island, golfing, ate at several of the restaurants that they provided details on and ventured into both Charleston and the Plantations off of the island. Thanks again for informing us before we arrived and then providing a large binder on site while we stayed for the week. We have already spoken about coming back; possibly in November.

Luxurious Comfort

Our stay at The Escape could not have been more relaxing. We were greeted with soft, soothing music when we entered the villa and then spent the next 30 minutes oohing and aahing at the furnishings, amenities and views. Not one convenience was overlooked. We would highly recommend The Escape and hope to be able to enjoy it again ourselves!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Escape for a week. Wonderful place. Convenient. Only a 10 minute walk to the East Beach Conference Center where I was attending a conference. Great amenities - they have thought of everything. Nice views of the ocean. Owner very helpful in answering questions. Oyster roast at Mingo Point on Monday nights is great. Kayaking trip was also fun. Most fun and interesting was early the last morning, going to watch the turtle patrol dig a turtle nest. Got to see one baby turtle go into the ocean!

"Escape" from reality.....

My husband and I had an excellent vacation on Kiawah, and it all started when we walked in the door of our condo. Everything was so nice and beautifully decorated. The stainless steel appliances are a great touch. We loved the king size bed and the master bath is amazing! We instantly felt at home and were very sad to leave. We rented bikes and cruised all over the island. I would encourage everyone to do that. The weather was perfect the whole week so we were "beach bums" every day. And that is our kind of vacation! The week went by waaaayyyyy too fast but we're looking forward to returning one day! Hopefully sooner rather than later!

Our Idyllic Weddingmoon on Kiawah Island

My (new) husband and I chose Kiawah Island for our "weddingmoon." It was truly a magical, memorable experience, and one that cannot be articulated in mere words. The Escape villa is lovely, organized and perfect for a couple who is looking for seclusion and romance. Shawn and Jeanette provided everything we needed (and many things we didn't even think of) for a stress-free week at the beach. Not only are the interior decorations impeccable, but the unit is spotless. Paul and I are already planning our one-year anniversary trip to Kiawah - and we hope to stay in The Escape.

"The Escape" was absolutely wonderful and the listing was extremely accurate in its description. The villa was extremely comfortable and the amenities were amazing! The Escape is a beautiful Villa. We arrived to a welcome note on the door and music playing inside. The decor can't be beat and the view from the master bedroom is gorgeous. I would highly recommend this Villa.

We loved this villa which was aptly described as an "escape." Very clean, updated, and with stunning views of the ocean from all windows. Owners very responsive to questions and concerns. After many visits to Kiawah Island, this villa is tops on our list. Would recommend eating at the Ocean Course with the most stunning ocean/golf views that one can imagine. The food is very good as well. Look forward to returning again.

Our first trip to Kiawah, or even So. Carolina, was a wonderful surprise. Can't imagine ever returning to FL again! The bike paths were so much fun with lots of places to explore that were not accessible to cars. We even biked in the rain! The "Escape" is truly that: ESCAPE! - comfortable calming furnishings (feels like you're living in Potterybarn's catalog), the ultimate shower, great location to the beach as well as any of the Island's restaurants or activities, balcony to drink coffee/cocktails overlooking beach, eclectic collection of CD's, movies, books; spacious floorplan. The second bathroom, washer/dryer, keyless entry, new kitchen were awesome organized conveniences. I would recommend this to anyone - but hope you are not going to tie it up when we want to go back! Missing Kiawah already....

My wife and I stayed at the "Escape” with our two young boys - ages 6 and 2. It was just the right size, with a pull-out couch and two bathrooms. Just a few feet from the beach, the "Escape" was comfortable and we loved the classy, modern decor. We are already scheming to go back next summer.

Upon entering the "Escape" our reaction was "WOW!" The Escape is a slice of heaven. We could spend our vacation there and never leave. Everything was perfect; the kitchen, the master bedroom over looking the ocean, the special little details that were thought of like sunsreen. A dream vacation.

I was looking for a special place to celebrate our 25th anniversary and the Escape was a perfect answer. We completely enjoyed every minute we spent there. My wife was completely surprised with the fantastic view from the bedroom. The condo is furnished in a way that made us feel at home. This is way more relaxing that staying in a hotel. Our vacation was greatly enhanced by the "Escape" villa. It was very clean, organized and beautifully decorated in a "Restoration Hardware" style. The views to the ocean were beautiful and relaxing, especially on the deck and master bedroom. There is only one bedroom, however with two small kids the pullout sofa was great and more than enough. There was ample space for our belongings. The proximity to the beach is a big plus. I would definitely recommend staying at this villa for a couple or a family with one or two young children.

wonderful exp both on Kiawah and in the Villa well appointed kitchen comfy sectional great bed and linens wonderful updated bathrooms you must rent or bring bikes to really get around the island and enjoy it owners very helpful if you need anything very accomdating
