Our condo is located steps from the ocean and features a private garden lanai furnished with outdoor couches allowing the indoor living area to comfortably flow to the outdoors. Renovated with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, spanish tile floor and selective modern furniture, this renovated condo is a rare find for rent in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

This oceanfront building is located in the heart of the Gold Coast, an absolutely stunning neighborhood where you feel a true connection to Hawaii, the outdoors and the ocean. The building fronts the ocean on one side and is across the street from the 108-acre Queen Kapiolani Park with tennis courts, running trails and sports fields. The park also includes the Honolulu Zoo, Honolulu Aquarium and the Waikiki Shell, home to Jack Johnson's annual Kokua Festival. The Goldcoast has a relaxed and calm atmosphere although it's within walking distance to the faster-paced Waikiki area. For these reasons its known as one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Hawaii.

Some of the best swimming, snorkeling and surfing on the southshore of Oahu is in the backyard of the building. There are several surf breaks offering various levels of difficulty immediately behind the building. One of the southshores best beaches, Kaimana Beach, is a 2 minute walk from the door of our condo. From the building, there is an amazing and well known 4-mile run/ walk loop that goes around Diamond Head crater.

We both grew up on the Mainland but have been living in Hawaii for 5 years. We've travelled to many places in the world and Hawaii. To us, the Goldcoast of Oahu is one of the most amazing places in the world.

Goldcoast Gem- Renovated in Oceanfront Bldg with Garden Lanai

I finally got the bad one!!!!

Guest: Clay (Sacramento CA.)
Date of Stay: 12/11/11 Review Submitted: 01/31/12

I have stayed in vrbo places all over the U.S. and Mexico and have always been amazed at how nice they are, and how easy the people are to deal with. Finally I have found the bad one. 1st it wasn't ready at check in, thats a good sign... The owner is very bad at doing what he says. I guess because of late cleaning all the towels were still wet and some even hanging on hangers to dry because they didn't have an extra quarter to dry them for 15 min. longer. All of the furniture and pillows were covered in stains. So I took off all the sheets and covers from furniture and rewashed everything in condo. Once everything was exposed the pillows and mattress cover were covered in sweat, pee, and blood stains. So I went and bought new pillows and sheets. The floor is tile and laminated that was also sticky and no mop for cleaning, so I bought new cleaning supplies and a mop for the floors. So now I have things somewhat sanitized and then we get a leak in bathroom ceiling. Owner, and onsite manager are notified. Long story short they open up an ugly hole in the bathroom ceiling to look at all the rust and debris up there. I really could go on and on, I have pictures to prove all of this if you would like to see them. There is a barb-que on patio with briquets, one would assume they are for using. NOPE and the neighbor is very quick to call and let people know you are breaking rules. Also you can not talk on PATIO this disrupts the neighbor. I realize I talk loud, I have been told that, but with only 2 people on patio talking aftre 10pm this is not allowed!!!!! That should be told to you and the no barb-queing rule, but it wasn't Like I said, owner not really good at helping with anything. He is quick to make sure he gets what he wants, but you will always be waiting for return phone calls and emails. It is done at his leisure. Finally after 3 phone calls and 3 emails I got my deposit back, oh he said he would give it back several times. I also have records proving this. I'm not the type of person that likes to write bad things, as a matter of fact this is my first. I just felt someone should say something. I spent a lot of time on the other Islands and at the hyatt, just because this place was so bad. No I would not recommend to friend, family, or someone on the street!

Owner response:While this review drastically mischaracterizes what happened, we will admit that there are a couple areas that are truthful and we have rectified these. Before discussing what we believe is the root of the problem guest had, we'd like to address the areas of improvement for us and how we've addressed them. -The cleaning crew has been replaced. They scheduled the wrong day and cleaned the condo late after being called leading to the floors and towels not being dry when guest arrived. -The pillows have been replaced. -Bathrooom ceiling leak was from condo above and has been repaired. On all of these, the guest never informed us of the issue. We would have promptly taken corrective action had we been informed of the problem. As for the BBQ, building rules are posted within the condo and BBQ is prohibited. The BBQ is left at the condo so guests may BBQ at the park across the street. To be honest, rneighbors have tolerated a sneak stealth afternoon BBQ on the lanai here and there. This guest decided that he wanted to BBQ after "being out at the clubs" at 3 AM. Earlier in his month long stay he had already been politely asked by our neighbor to please keep the noise level at a courteous level when on the lanai. That night, the neighbor decided to call the police as the guest seemed intoxicated. The police asked guest to be quiet and gave him a warning. The next morning, the neighbor who called the police awoke to a dead rat on his doorstep (I have pictures to prove this). Later in the morning, the guest, still smelling of alchohol, started beligerently yelling at my neighbor. The police were called and a warning was given after he calmed down. Normally, deposits are returned upon check-out in cash. However, with this guest the deposit was returned within 10 days of check-out as I worked through the details of the rat/ police incident with the condo board and neighbor. I've been renting this condo and two other condos within Honolulu for the last 4 years, it has been a joy to share Hawaii and our homes with folks. I am from Ohio and know what it's like to experience this beautiful place as a guest. I do have to say I also finally got the bad one. After this, I was ready to give up and not rent the condo anymore, but the next guests were a delightful couple from Boston and I've decided to continue renting. If you can look past this bad review, I guaranty you'll have a great stay at our condo.
