Welcome to the Inviting Porch of our Victorian Home at 13 Mountain Street
Location: Camden, Mid-Coast & Islands, Maine, USA (Four Hours North of Boston on the Maine Coast) View Map
Accommodations: Home, 3 Bedrooms, 4 Baths (Sleeps 6)
We are now taking bookings for Autumn of '09 and Summer of '10. Bookings are complete for Summer of '09. Begin to think about a Foliage Holiday in Camden. It is beyond compare....long walks on the mountain paths or through the village are incomparable in the fall!
Our village home is a stone's throw from Penobscot Bay. You can pour your coffee in the morning and wander down to see the tall ships sail away and enjoy scenes of active harbor life. Then walk past our 1920's library and have a walk down Main Street to enjoy small local shops and cafes that are a part of the fabric of the town.
This village life is only moments from our side porch. The charm of the house is its close proximity to everything and yet, has a peaceful charm and privacy not easy to find. We chose Camden from our home when we found four working book stores, beautiful antique shops and family owned local cafes. We wanted to be able to walk to grocery store and live for days without getting in the car. Every season is magical: the long evenings of summer, glorious, incomparable autumn color, snow fall for the holidays and the flowers of spring. Our home in Camden has been a retreat for our family for many years and we would love to share it with you.

The Unique Benefits at this Home
We bought our home in 1990 and for the last 19 years have lovingly restored in the interior while keeping the charm and grace of a Victorian. Dave and I lived all over the world and have furnished out home with antiques from Vienna and from China. The house is our sanctuary with three distinct living areas on three floors. The public space on the first floor provides a large, gourmet kitchen with room for our family and friends to gather, visit and cook all at one time, with little people all over the floor! The large dining room has seating for 12 but we have had 20 and sit nicely. My husband has hand painted a mural in the dining that creates a sense of peace and calm. It is one of my favorite rooms. The transition into our cozy living room through an archway framed with 18th Chinese panels reminds us of wonderful travel in China for the last six years as I grew my antiques and silk business. The living room is intimate and highlighted by stain glass windows and a cozy gas fire place surrounded by book cases.
The second floor is personal space with two large bedrooms and beautiful remodeled bathrooms designed for quiet privacy. The view of the mountains and tress from the master picture window is restoring for us and, we hope, for you!
The third floor was our enormous attic. It provides a sitting room with a view of the Camden Hills, a wonderful bathroom with a nautical flare, a sleeping nook with another queen fold out and another space for yoga or pilates. This is a wonderful spot for teenagers, giving them private space to spread out and relax.
We have traveled all over the world and their is no place like Camden. Do come and see us and let us share our home with you!
Owner's Map of Camden
Dave and I taught all over the world for 30 years. Our primary residence, at this time, is Charlotte, North Carolina, where Dave is teaching high school history at Charlotte Country Day School and I have an Arbonne business. We feel so lucky to able to offer our home to you. For us, there is no place like Camden in all the world. The village life, the sea, the mountains and all it offers is simply remarkable to us and never fails to enchants us, whether it is summer, autumn, Christmas or spring. It is a rare part of the world!
