We are taking payments for the summer of 2012. It is a perfect time of year to come to Camden. It is uncrowded, unhurried and idyllic.

Our village home is a stone's throw from Penobscot Bay. You can pour your coffee in the morning and wander down to see the tall ships sail away and enjoy scenes of active harbor life. Then walk past our 1920's library and have a walk down Main Street to enjoy small local shops and cafes that are a part of the fabric of the town.

This village life is only moments from our side porch. The charm of the house is its close proximity to everything and yet, has a peaceful charm and privacy not easy to find. We chose Camden from our home when we found four working book stores, beautiful antique shops and family owned local cafes. We wanted to be able to walk to grocery store and live for days without getting in the car. Every season is magical: the long evenings of summer, glorious, incomparable autumn color, snow fall for the holidays and the flowers of spring. Our home in Camden has been a retreat for our family for many years and we would love to share it with you.

Why the Owner Chose Camden

We fell in love with Camden on sight. It has everything we have ever wanted and more...3 thriving independent book stores, wonderful restaurants, great sailing, unique shopping, glorious hiking and the daily infrastructure, longs walks on country lanes, canoeing and it is all a walk from our front door.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We bought our home in 1990 and for the last 19 years have lovingly restored in the interior while keeping the charm and grace of a Victorian. Dave and I lived all over the world and have furnished out home with antiques from Vienna and from China. The house is our sanctuary with three distinct living areas on three floors. The public space on the first floor provides a large, gourmet kitchen with room for our family and friends to gather, visit and cook all at one time, with little people all over the floor! The large dining room has seating for 12 but we have had 20 and sit nicely. My husband has hand painted a mural in the dining that creates a sense of peace and calm. It is one of my favorite rooms. The transition into our cozy living room through an archway framed with 18th Chinese panels reminds us of wonderful travel in China for the last six years as I grew my antiques and silk business. The living room is intimate and highlighted by stain glass windows and a cozy gas fire place surrounded by book cases.

The second floor is personal space with two large bedrooms and beautiful remodeled bathrooms designed for quiet privacy. The view of the mountains and tress from the master picture window is restoring for us and, we hope, for you!

The third floor was our enormous attic. It provides a sitting room with a view of the Camden Hills, a wonderful bathroom with a nautical flare, a sleeping nook with another queen fold out and another space for yoga or pilates. This is a wonderful spot for teenagers, giving them private space to spread out and relax.

We have traveled all over the world and their is no place like Camden. Do come and see us and let us share our home with you!

Owner's Map of Camden

Dave and I taught all over the world for 30 years. Our primary residence, at this time, is Charlotte, North Carolina, where Dave is teaching high school history at Charlotte Country Day School and I have an Arbonne business. We feel so lucky to able to offer our home to you. For us, there is no place like Camden in all the world. The village life, the sea, the mountains and all it offers is simply remarkable to us and never fails to enchants us, whether it is summer, autumn, Christmas or spring. It is a rare part of the world!

A Wonderful "Maine" Experience!!

Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/16/11

We just returned from spending a wonderful time in BEAUTIFUL Camden in this lovely home. The photos are exactly what you will find in this home. A gourmet kitchen, lovely master bath and close to everything!! There are so many lovely details of this home, artwork, wood work, stained glass, etc. There is so much to do in the downtown area which is literally a few minute walk from this home. The views of the Harbour from the quaint little park up the road was just beautiful to sit and watch each evening. Right up the road was the perfect hiking area, not to mention you can hike to Mt. Battie just up the street. So much to do and "centrally located" to just about everywhere. A few must do's while you are here. Eat a lobster roll at least once. Watch the tide come in at Lincolnville Beach, it's pretty quick and happens around 1:30-2pm. If you have time, take the ferry to Monhegan Island, a very small island but incredible views and lots of history. Of course if you can...go to Acadia National Park and drive up to Cadillac Mountain or have a picnic lunch at The Jordan Pond, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy great shopping in Belfast! There are lots of great shop in downtown Camden too! A little pricey, but neat stuff to see! And lastly, if you get tired of lobster...order the "best pizza in the world" from the Camden House of Pizza ! Amazing!!!

Owner response:Oh Nicole, You are too dear! Dave and I thrilled that you and her husband enjoyed our home, Camden and beyond. Again, Happy 25th wedding anniversary. At 35 years and counting, we can affirm that it all gets better and better, Hope to hear rom you in the future. All My Best, Mary

A perfect vacation in Camden

Date of Stay: 07/01/10 Review Submitted: 07/30/10

This lovely home was more than described in VRBO and the owners were delightful and accomadating. My few questions were answered at once. The home is large, airy, well equipped and convenient to all of Camden's many activities. We could walk to town, the library and any activity taking place in the park--which is a MAJOR plus. I had both family and friends visit at various times and they all want to return. Thank you for a beautiful and comfortable month.

This is always be the place where my eldest showed me her engagement ring, a lovely princess cut, 2 carat in platinum, to be married to an even lovier young man!! Happy Happy memory! Thank you for this week with all the warm, taste and class of a real home. The paintings on the wall speak of both detail and discipline. I loved the library, such a perfect epitome of what Camden stands for....I hope I will return!

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home and the beautiful village of Camden. We love coming to Maine. We think we may have depleted the lobster supply. We ate it everyday....sometimes twice! Atlantica was excellent! It was a fabulous holiday.

The only noise we encountered when we stayed at your place in Camden was the sound of laughter from the good times we had! Oh, I forgot, there was also the high fives I got for renting your house!

We really enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home in Camden. The location cannot be beat. We loved being able to walk into town for dinner and other activities. Also, the proximity to the park was great for taking some nice hikes. We hope to make this an annual trip.
