We arrived in Helen Ga for the annual Southern Worthersee event. Much to our suprise we couldnt get our lowered volkswagens to the cabin because no where on the listing does it say anything about needing a truck or off road vehicle. so we had to hike about a mile to the cabin. We get to the cabin and it is humid and sticky inside. The couches were moist. And the worst part was that it smelled like urine. I called the owner asking her for a refund due to the fact that our cars would not make it up the road to the cabin. She did not want to cooperate and kept insisting that we at least try to drive there. We were not about to bust an oil pan for this nasty little cabin. She then went on to LIE about how there was a lowered VW in the cabin next door. so i walked over there and no was there. There were also no signs of anyone staying there. and i shook the lock box and the keys were still inside. Hmm... Without mentioning the state of the cabin i pleaded with her to get a refund because of the cars and the fact that we werent hiking with all of our things. i reserved this cabin for three nights and she only refunded me one. So i pretty much ate a bunch of money. The pictures are decieving! Plus there are cabins all around so this is not as "private" as advertised. I highly recommend that no one stays here not because i didnt get my money back but this cabin reeks and is very uncomfortable. It would ruin any and all ideas of a romantic weekend.

Owner response:This renter is upset due to the fact that she arrived in the mountains driving a low riding volkswagen and would not even attempt to drive on the road to the cabin. We ourself's drive a regular suv car and have pulled a boat and/or trailor to the cabins several times with no problems. You can not expect to go to the "mountains" and not have hills to drive up and over. The road to the cabin is a dirt road with gravel. We have someone who maintains the road on a regular basis (i.e.-scraps the road and puts down new gravel). This renter called me asking for a refund and stated that "there was nothing wrong with the cabin, the cabin was fine". She made no mention of urine smells (which is completely untrue)or that it was humid and/or sticky inside. When she called asking for the refund I told her I would call her back. I then contacted my cleaning service to check on the conditions of the road since it had just rained the day before. She advised that she had just left the cabins, driving a regular size truck (not 4WD) and had no problems on the road. She advised that the renters in our other cabin were already there and were driving a low riding Volkswagon. There are other cabins within walking distance, but there is wooded areas between each cabin so you do have plenty of privacy. As per our previous reviews, our past renters have stated this fact. Our Rental Policy does advise no refunds unless cancelled 14 days prior to your arrival date. The cabin was cleaned and ready for her arrival and it was too late to schedule another renter on such short notice. The only reason this renter wanted a refund was due to "they were afraid to drive the low riding volkswagon on the road". I did refund her one night rental which is more than is offered in the Rental Policy. My hope is that other potential renters will look beyond this review and see what our other past renters have stated to be true- the cabin is just as described clean, private, comfortable and romantic.

The cabin was clean and very cozy. We arrived at the cabin after dusk, there was a small light on as we entered the pathway to the front door. It would have been helpful for a porch light to be on to better see the lock box to enter. Just a small suggestion for those who arrive in the dark. We really enjoyed the cabin's location and could relax very comfortably in the Hot tub. My husband and I agree the communication between you (the owner) and us (the renters) was very open and easy; which makes a trip or vacation start off in the right direction. Elaine, The cabin was awesome! We've already decided we'll be back! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and the little notes like on the TV for the guide channel, over the jacuzzi; for proper usage, etc.. made everything real easy to get into the "we don't want to go home mode". Helen was absolutely fantastic and the cabin was far enough away that we enjoyed the beautiful drive into town and not to mention helped us stumble onto Anna Ruby Falls (in route), which we knew we wanted to see but hadn't nailed down exact location. I strongly recommend "Time Away" unless your "Time Away" conflicts with ours, then you should book another time. LOL. Thank you, Brian D.

The cabin was a perfect size for us as a couple away for a weekend. Not far away from town, it was convenient to the shops and stores. We had a roaring fire in the fireplace, and while sitting in the jacuzzi saturday afternoon, a black bear ambled by not 30 feet away. Awesome experience.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay, it was secluded enough to be considered a "getaway" yet still so close to downtown Helen - it's in a perfect location! The cabin was cozy and comfortable - we felt right at home! The bed was SO comfortable, that was the hardest part about leaving! Elaine, thank you so much! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at the cabin. We loved how secluded it was. I wouldn't change a thing about it and we definitely plan on coming back up sometime. I wanted to tell you, we actually had an interesting encounter our first night there. We stepped outside for a few and heard an awful shrill cry that sounded like a woman screaming, about three times... we both got spooked and decided to call Helen P.D. just to be safe.... the officer shows up about 45 minutes later (laughing nonetheless) and lets us know that what we heard was a panther. Apparently it's mating season and thats their mating call, and that it does sound just like a woman screaming. He said we should consider ourselves lucky that we heard it because it's rarely heard by the locals. Go figure. Other than the wild panther adventure, we had a very relaxing weekend... and a great story to tell. Haha. Oh, and we had some firewood leftover so we just left it in the tin bucket by the fireplace. Thank you again so much, Elaine. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation and not to mention, we lucked out with a beautiful weekend (it was about 65/70 the whole time). Our stay was splendid. We enjoyed it so much. The cabin was very comfortable and very clean. We enjoyed the bed so much. It was SOOOO comfortable. The only issue that we ran into was that there were no extra trash bags. We came prepared with paper towels and toilet paper, but we failed to bring extra trash bags. Thank you so much for working with me on such a short notice. We appreciate it very much. Helen is a very charming town and we would love to come back again soon.

Hello, We had such a blast! We really liked the location of the cabin. It was close enough to town but secluded and private as well. We also enjoyed the close proximity to the State Parks and trails. The cabin was the perfect size for us, nice jacuzzi, gril. We were glad to find and iron and ironing board - the only minor thing was the iron leaked water a bit. Thanks for having us and we look forward to staying again!

This cabin was a perfect cabin for the 2 of us. It is private yet easy to get to. The pictures on the website were exactly as it looked. My girlfriend and I stayed at this cabin over Labor Day weekend. We had a great experience. It was charming, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. The portable radio and bathrobes came in handy. The king size bed was super comfortable. No issues whatsoever. I would recommend.

We absolutely loved the cabin and will definitely come back. The doggies loved it as well. It was very comfortable and perfect! The hot tub was amazing and the location was great. Good Morning! YES We did absolutely enjoy our stay at your lovely cabin! It was very clean and had just about everything you could think of you might need at a home away from home. I was able to prepare a Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen without bringing any cookware or utensils of my own! We would recommend this cabin to our friends and family for sure. Hi - We had a great stay in your cabin... I meant to e-mail you yesterday... but busy life picked up right where we left off. The cabin was very comfortable and clean and renter friendly. Since it was a short stay we did not eat in except for snacks. But it seemed like you had a well-stocked kitchen which is something we usually look for. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub, but it looked great too. We loved the area and hope to return some time. We know your cabin is not large enough for kids, but if you have something that would be appropriate let us know. We have a 5 year old and an 8 1/2 year old. We stayed in Cabin 50 over the Thanksgiving holiday. The cabin was really cute, decorated very nicely and the robes were a plus! It had all the amenities you could need for a relaxing getaway for two. The location was great as well, close to Helen, yet still secluded.

We rented TimeAway Mountain Cabin a 1-BR, 1-BA with hot tub which is located approximately 3 miles from downtown Helen, Ga. It is also close to Georgia's highest mountain- Brasstown Bald (45 minutes drive from the cabin), Anna Ruby Falls (5 minutes drive) and State Unicoi Park (5 minutes drive). To reach the cabin one has to travel a quarter mile on gravel road from the main road and it doesn't demand a 4WD. When we pulled up to TimeAway Mountain Cabin we knew we had picked the right one. We were so impressed with how clean the cabin was and how well it had been taken care of. It truly was just like the pictures on the website! It is a perfect cabin for a couple that wants to spend time together. Everything was set before we headed. As we entered we confirmed it. The cabin was excellent and the woods around made us feel very private and secluded even though it is just a quarter mile away from the main road. Tranquility guaranteed. The decor was outstanding. The small but efficient kitchen had everything you could want. It was perfect, with plenty of glasses, pots and dishes. They even provided dishwashing soap. The cabin is absolutely worth the rates and is comfortable for a romantic getaway. Owner living in georgia is really friendly and helpful. They answered all our queries and attended to our calls irrespective of the time. We were pleased with their prompt response to our messages and their willingness to help. They are also flexible with the check in time, which helped us a lot. Our only suggestion and request to the owner is please leave another set of key in the key box outside the cabin which can solve the problem easily during lock out. We appreciate your hospitality. We truly loved every minute of our stay at the TimeAway Mountain Cabin. We highly recommend TimeAway Mountain Cabin without any reservation for all the people who wish to visit Helen, GA. We are definitely returning and hope that the TimeAway Mountain Cabin will be available the next time.

We stayed in cabin #40 October 4,5, and 6th. We loved the place. Nice and private for the hottub. The cabin is so cute with the wildlife decor and wooden paneling. We had a great time and enjoyed every minute in the cabin. Everything that could be needed at home in the kitchen was there. Nice place and nice people!
