If fishing is your fancy, Kenai Lake feeds the world famous upper Kenai River and Russian River confluence, known for its world record counts of Sockeye (Red) Salmon. In late summer, Silver Salmon are exciting to fish among the many spawning Sockeye. If salmon doesn’t interest you, the upper Kenai River is known for its awesome Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. These fish are a challenge, but so much fun to catch in the crystal clear waters of the river.
If hiking and wildlife viewing is more your interest, there are many trails to choose from. In the late summer, you can hike to the Russian River Falls to watch the salmon jump the falls to reach their spawning grounds. The Resurrection Pass Trail is also a very well known hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trail. If you’re an avid hiker, you can go for the ultimate adventure from the trailhead in Cooper Landing to the small community of Hope, some 36 miles. Along the trail is 6 Forest Service cabins (at intervals) and reservations are required.
Only 45 minutes away in Seward Alaska, is the amazing fisheries of Resurrection Bay. Charter a boat for the day and catch Halibut, Ling Cod, and in late summer, Silver Salmon. Seward is home to the Silver Salmon Derby in late summer. Try your luck to catch the biggest fish to win big money. Looking for something for the family to do, then Seward is also home to an up-close and personal experience with a glacier. Exit Glacier, is located right outside Seward, a short hike to the glacier for an experience you won’t forget and the coldest water you’ve ever felt. The Sea Life Center is also another excellent place to take the kids, see and experience the wonders of the Alaskan waters.
Whether you want an awesome fishing trip with your buddies or a family vacation enjoying the outdoors, a trip to Alaska will be a “reel” vacation we guarantee you won't forget!

Everything about this rental property was perfect! Great location with wonderful views that continue to change minute by minute. Easy access to everything that Cooper Landing and the Kenai Peninsula has to offer from fishing, hiking, to wild life viewing and so much more. The house was perfect for our group and the kitchen was more than adequate for this self proclaimed gourmet. Great selection of movies and books to keep us occupied when we were not enjoying the great outdoors. This was our 5th trip to the area and now that we've found this place we hope to make this property our annual digs.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Thank you for sharing your home. This is our first visit to Alaska and we are all overcome with the stunning scenery. Have done two hikes in our three days here and visited Seward and Exit Glacier. This is a beautiful house in a wonderful area. Thank you, Ken, for the email replies to my many queries before our visit - it all helped to make the visit perfect.

One word - Awesome - recommend to anyone who travels to Alaska! Had a previous stay at Princess lodge that fails in comparison to this! For a group or family looking to have a good time - this cabin is key!
