About Property Managers: Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways)
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he spent the additional money required for the personalized South Carolina license plate "KIAWAH" (which we still own today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape (3563) and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah Property Owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will!!

We very much enjoyed our Kiawah Island experience. The Sea Breeze Villa is well maintained and very comfortable; great location to access the beach and see the ocean. (The pool that is available to guests is not on site at the Windswept Villas but the beach is so beautiful and the water so wonderfully warm that we did not miss spending time poolside.) We greatly appreciated the attention to details such as providing some staples during the stay (laundry and d/w soap, shower soaps/shampoos, sugar, salt, coffee filters, etc), the vanilla scent plug-ins, suggested sights and maps/directions, and the high quality bedding. The balcony is a lovely place to enjoy meals and allows privacy from the beach walkers (though it lacks privacy from the other balconies of the Windswept building). When visiting the Island, we highly recommend a visit to the Angel Oak tree (a 350+ year old amazing oak tree about 15 minutes from Kiawah); we also really enjoyed our evening at the Ryder Cup Grill (at Ocean Course) - great food, very nice staff and beautiful views. Skip the ice cream at the West Beach Village on Kiawah. The prepared foods, vegetables, meats and fish at Newton Farms (Kiawah Island - Freshfields Village grocery store) are excellent.

The Sea Breeze was a great property. The listing accurately described the property. It was very conveniently located. I love renting from Jeanette and Sean at Kiawah Island Getaways. They have fantastic properties that are well maintained and loading with great amenities. It's definitely a turnkey property - all you need to do is stock the fridge and the bar. We loved the bike riding, late evenings on the beach, and good books. We would definitely recommend eating at Rose Banks Farm Cafe in Bohicket. We would definitely recommend this property and would highly recommend Kiawah Island Getaways.

This was our first stay on Kiawah Island and may I say that we were spoiled and may never be able to find a place comparable to this vacation!!! Kiawah Island Getaways makes your stay on the Island so comfortable that you don't want to leave the villa except to go to the beach. In the morning we would go for walks on the beach which was a very short distance from the villa!! We would eat our breakfast outside on the deck overlooking the ocean (getting everything ready in the most exquiste, fully equipped kitchen!) Then get ready for another beautiful sunny day basking in the Carolina sun. It was easy to relax because the villa had everything fully equipped and ready for us. At night we didn't even want to go out to dinner because the villa and it's views we so stunning that most nights we got take out and ate in our dining room outside at the villa!! It was more beautiful than any restaurant on the Island!! The villa exceeded our expectations in every aspect!! It had the perfect location, the perfect amenities, it was perfectly cleaned and maintained, and I would recommend both this villa and Kiawah Island Getaways to anyone wanting to vacation on Kiawah Island. We have now found our NEW favorite vacation spot and will be returing EVERY year from now on and Kiawah Island Getaways will be the only people we rent from!!!!

We can't speak highly enough of the condo! Between the cleanliness of the rooms to the fully equipped kitchen, we could not have been any more impressed. With two small children, I did not have to worry about anything missing that was needed in order to maintain our home away from home. A binder was ready for us that was full of helpful tips for local dining and events - even the light switches throughout the rooms were labeled to help us! For anyone who has never been to this area, just go to the places noted in the binder and your vacation itinery is complete. The only issue to note is the building did not seem to have a ramp, so we did have to climb steps with luggage and strollers in order to get to the elevator.

Lovely unit, nicely appointed, great view. Upscale inside, outside a bit more rustic. Unit was very clean and welcoming. Kitchen well organized. Quick walk down to the beach - beach was amazing, riding bikes on the beach, even more amazing! One downside (that doesn't reflect on the unit itself) was the amount of time it took to get into Charleston - the roads are not direct and not well lit. Enjoyed dinner at Fig (in Charleston) and Fat Hen (closer to Kiawah). Weather was perfect, but breezy. Would definitely recommend to others traveling to the area.

The condo is exactly as pictured and represented on VRBO. It's clean, well-maintained, everything works, very attractive and well appointed, comfortable, a wonderful ocean front porch and a beautiful location. The Lawson's think of and attend to every detail making it so pleasant and easy, there's laundry detergent and dish detergent and some essential cooking supplies; the towels and sheets are nice quality, everything is well done. Kiawah has lots to offer.

This property lived up to the advertisement! We were looking for a very well appointed, ocean front condo and this one delivered. We particularly enjoyed preparing most dinners in the condo while overlooking the ocean and dining on the deck. It was so nice to have a condo that was not decorated with the typical beach furnishings (usually cast offs) but one that truly felt like a home. We also enjoyed the Freshfields area. In the past, we tried to pack all of our food needed for the week but you no longer have to do that! The Freshfields Market is wonderful and there a many new restaurants to choose from as well. Highly recommend this property as all details were well thought out. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to return!

Immaculate and very well appointed condo in a great location. Two suggestions would be: (1) grab bars in the shower/bath for older guests, (2) magnifying makeup mirrors in both baths. The restaurant and other suggestions as well as directions into Charleston were all very helpful. Definitely a candidate for a return visit for my husband and me.
Owner response:Dear Suzanne, Thanks for being wonderful guests - we'd be delighted to host your return trip to Kiawah! We are working on these two improvements right now.
