Poinsettia Villa at Indigo Reef
5/5

Having been a visitor to this island nearly a dozen times, I've had a chance to look around and stay at several different places. But as I prepare for another trip, it will be our 4th time that we look to stay at Poinsettia. As I tend to prefer the western half of the island for most daily activities, the location of the Indigo Reef properties is perfect for us. Each year I take photos of the beautiful surroundings there, and as beautiful as these photos are, they just can't truly reflect the overall attractiveness of Indigo Reef. And this due in large part to the gardeners (one of whom is Jester) who keep the property looking absolutely gorgeous- walking through the meandering paths between the villas and to the shared pool (which has never been crowded) is like walking through mini botanical gardens- the colors are vivd and the flowers smell fantastic-frangipani and gardenias to name just a couple. The villa itself, and the others that are also owned by Ingrid ( and I have examined them all-Poinsettia, Mangrove and Gardenia), are lovely and comfortably furnished- with a bed like the one I sleep in at home, with linens that are high quality, all the amenities that you have at home (or wish you had at home) and then some- like a roof top patio where you can see forever and sometimes watch sail boats racing, which really look like a water ballet...The villas are architecturally unique, the distance and plantings between them allows for privacy, everything is kept clean and the housekeeping staff makes sure you have fresh beach towels when they're needed. Kitchen is gourmet and supplied well and very handy to have when traveling with kids especially- cooking in from time to time is economical in Anguilla. And it's great to buy freshly caught fish/ lobster and bring them home to do it yourself. Ingrid, the owner, has arranged for car rentals and pick -up at the Blowing Point Ferry (picked up by Ingrid herself when she's available to do so). She stops by to make sure everything is going as it should be- she makes one feel very welcome and wants you to have the kind of vacation you've been waiting for. I would recommend this property and any in her group of villas to everyone and anyone who looks to have a carefree vacation on an island that has not been spoiled by over- construction and where one can meet locals who become friends and really get to taste the island flavor. The beach is great for shelling, sunsets amazing, A+ beaches nearby. I LOVE Anguilla.
