Historic Downtown Cottage - Authentic Luxury in the heart of Santa Barbara
Please visit Paradise Retreats website for availability information. Use the “CLICK HERE – For Property Information and Availability Calendar” link located in the RATE DETAILS section at the bottom of this page.
Experience vintage Santa Barbara elegance in this classic Downtown property. Completely restored in 2008, this authentic cottage provides a relaxing escape for couples or small families.
Built in 1929, the home is a beautiful specimen of the historic Santa Barbara bungalow style. The owners have preserved the antique windows, the original wooden floors, the cozy fireplace, and have completely redone the kitchen and baths.
Native landscaping surrounds the property, with beautiful stone walkways and patios. Most of the stone was quarried directly from the property, and all of it was installed by master craftsmen trained in the fine art of sandstone masonry. The back patio features a fountain, a spa, and lovely outdoor furniture for dining and relaxing.
The kitchen is completely remodeled and updated with all new stainless steel appliances, and is stocked to satisfy the needs of the finest chef. The new indoor furniture has been selected with attention to quality and style, and the colors and fabrics all complement the classic feeling of the cottage.
Downtown Santa Barbara is an easy 4-5 blocks away. Take a stroll after dinner for shopping and entertainment. During the day, drive 5 minutes up to the historic Mission, or 5 minutes down to the beach! The Santa Barbara Bowl, within walking distance, is a beautiful place to enjoy concerts under the stars. Parks for the kids are close by and a neighborhood market is 1/2 block away. All the best of Santa Barbara is within easy reach of the property. For an excursion, enjoy a 30 minute drive to the Santa Ynez wine country.
We invite you to enjoy Historic Downtown Cottage. We hope you allow this property to transport you to a time where quality and taking your time mattered.
Please note: this property is adjacent to our other property, Historic Downtown Retreat. Larger groups can rent both properties to accommodate 12-14 guests.

(transcribed from the Guest Book at the home)On Wednesday night we walked over to Alice Keck park, as we did every night of our visit and we stumbled across a group of Celtic musicians playing in the spiral walkway under a beautiful old tree. The effect was magincal. Our 2 yr old son ran over and listened, mesmerized, calling for “more” when the song ended. And that is how our visit to the Historic Downtown Cottage has been. Unexpected , magical, mesmerizing moments.

(transcribed from the Guest Book at the home)Our 25th wedding anniversary trip! This house is perfect..the location alloweduus to enjoy so much the area has to offer. We rode bikes on the beach, swam in the pool, browsed the stores on State Street. Tried so many restaurants…we won’t be hungry for weeks. Plus, we are bringing home many bottles of wine, not available in our area. Woke up every morning to birds singing and the sun coming through windows. The bed is cozy and this home is very restful. Thank you for sharing this home. We will take home sweet memories.

(Transcribed from the guest Book at the home) Our winter vacation this year was spent in your charming cottage and in your wonderful city of Santa Barbara! Our goal was to get away from the snow and cold of Boston and Buffalo which we had to remind ourselves of during two days of rain. When the sun came out everything was glorious! This cottage made the week even more enjoyable as it was very comfortable and charming. I loved the details of the renovation and all the comforts the cottage has to offer. We also enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and taking note of the architectural styles of the area. Thank you for th opportunity to stay here and we hope we will return in the future.
