The location of this condo is amazing. With our seven-day transit pass, we were able to go everywhere we wanted to go and never had to use a taxi. The view of the Empire State Bldg was beautiful and it was lit up with different colors every night. Among other landmarks, you can also see the Hudson River and the WTC site. We definitely recommend this condo and will stay here again.

We have just finished two weeks' stay here and loved every minute of it. We were in walking distance of most subways and also the Theatre District. The views are amazing - not only the Empire State Building lit up each night, but also the changing vistas each day. Even rainy days high up in the clouds were fantastic. The apartment is well-equipped for a holiday stay in the city. We highly recommend the Soup Man two doors away, the Bryant Deli on W38th and Le Pain Quotidien on Bryant Park W40th. Roy was very helpful no matter how small the request, the concierges were great and we felt very secre throughout our stay. Initially, we were a bit nervous paying the whole rent about 6 months in advance as we had a bad experience booking an apartment in Paris, but our key arrived nearly 3 months before we left home and we had no problems at all. The queen bed is very comfortable and it was a bonus having both a bath and a shower. Ideal for a couple who want to be in the centre of things in a clean, well-appointed accommodation.

First the good. This is a nice building in an excellent location. Easy to walk most places from here. All the doormen were very nice. Excellent view from the window. The apartment had hardwood floors, no carpets. The bed was comfortable. Now the not so good, We got there quite late and wanted to take a shower but no soap in the bathroom, just some dish soap near the kitchen sink. The vents in the bathroom and the kitchen were so filthy dirty. Looked like they had never been cleaned There was a lot of mold on the grout around the tub. It was not very appealing. The bath tub was very high and there was nothing to grab onto getting into the tub except a towel bar which was not sturdy enough on the wall. There was 1/2 piece fixed glass next to the tub so that the water came out onto the floor on the side without the glass. Every day we had water on the floor. A filthy dirty sponge was left on the kitchen sink. There was some kind of party going on one evening next door and we could hear it until late at night. The Flat Screen TV was so tiny and there were no instructions on how to use the tuner so we manually turned it on. The place really needs a painting. These could easily be a 5 star rental with a little extra care. Advice: This has nothing to do with the apt but if you have a car beware that the parking lot next door was the most expensive ever so we moved the car a few blocks away for a much better rate.

If you're going to visit New York, this is the apartment to rent. The view was to die for. You're close (walking distance) to EVERYTHING! Great privacy, great doormen, great everything! You'd pay more for a hotel and not have the gorgeous kitchen, so why bother renting a hotel? Every time we walked back from a place, we'd take a different street and ran into some other landmark building. Amazing location this place! Owner was great, friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect. We even had groceries delivered within hours of our arrival, from Fresh Direct--you can google them online. Delivered right to the front door. We will come back over and over again!

My husband and I stayed at this apartment Dec. 18-22, 2011. It was FANTASTIC! The view is unbeatable as well as the location. We were only 1 block from Broadway and walked to everything (Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Times Square, etc.). The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. If we ever return to New York, we definitely plan on booking here again. Do not hesitate - book it!

My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to NYC at the beginning of December. It was kind of a late, late honeymoon for us and Roy even went so far as to help my husband with a surprise of champagne and flowers upon our arrival. Everything was perfect. The view is SPECTACULAR and you're literally within walking distance of all major attractions. We hardly took a cab anywhere. It helped that the weather was perfect as well so we just walked. The doormen and cleaning woman were all super friendly and it is a very safe neighborhood. The price is a steal too! Much better than staying in a hotel. We're definitely planning on coming back! Cheers :)

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful apartment during the holiday season. What a fantastic location! We were walking distance to most major attractions and shopping. We especially enjoyed the Christmas shopping at Bryant Park and the holiday decorations. We had the best dinner at Keen's Steakhouse which was only a few blocks away. The doormen were friendly and informative. Felt safe throughout our stay. Will definitely be back! Thanks!!

Loved our stay here. The location is convient to everything with an orange line subway stop 1/2 block away, and easy walk to Times Square and oh that view of the Empire State (which changes colors every night). Better than the pictures, with a great kitchen. Doormen were friendly and very helpful. Avoid the Bryant Market on 6th Ave unles you want to pay double for everything but don't miss the Soupman (Soup Nazi from Seinfield) location on 6th for great soup and breakfast at a reasonable price. Great for two people but would be tight for four. Don't miss the Bryant Park market (especially the Bald Man chocolate), one block away. The plumbing on the tub/shower was unique and we were never able to get the stopper down for a bath. Highly recommendable.

We stayed in this apartment during the week preceding Labor Day weekend, 2011. It was everything the VRBO advertisement promises, and more: a well-appointed, clean, safe and perfectly located apartment with walking or subway access to every place we wanted to go. The two large windows frame dead-on views of the Empire State Building, which is lighted at night. The place was immaculate when we moved in (and a prior occupant had even left us two beers as a welcome gift). We will definitely stay here again and welcome any inquiries about our experience.

Wow...the view is to die for. Loved having my glass of wine & watching the sun go down & the lights come on. Property in good location as indicated in previous reviews. Yes there is a little wear but when a property is lived in that's what happens. I found the bed to be quite comfortable & I slept like a log. The building is very nice & the young men at the lobby were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this property & I will definitely use it again on my next trip. New York City is fabulous.

We just finished our stay and can't wait to return. Our daughters loved it. This place is within walking distance to Times Square, Central Park and museums and there are multiple subway stops nearby. We found lots of great places to eat within a few blocks and enjoyed browsing the Fashion District. At the end of the day it was relaxing to return to a clean, cozy place and enjoy the terrific midtown view. We made good use of all the amenities, including the laundry room and fitness center. a Roy was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. A week was not enough time to spend here. We would definitely stay here again on our next New York trip.

I have used VRBO many times and this was a great find. It was clean and very well located. We walked everywhere from here; Times Square, 9th Avenue restaraunts,Central Park etc. We just walked up from Penn Station in about 15 minutes. It was comfortable to come back to at the end of the day. I had to call Roy about something minor and he got back to me in 20 minutes. We were able to leave our luggage with the concierge when we checked out which was convenient. Great for anyone who wants to have a good time in New York.

We were so excited to visit NYC again and this place helped to make it even better! From the helpful doorman to the access to major subway lines as well as perfect location to go in any direction, this apt. had everything we needed. On top of that, there was a wonderful view to make us truly feel like we were New Yorkers. As the Jets were in the playoffs, we were able to see the Empire State Building lit green while in bed and admire the beautiful snowfall as we arrived in a snowstorm. The apt. amenities were as described and included everything we needed. A true bonus was the ability to keep our bags with the doorman to be able to spend our last hours exploring since our flight was not until evening. After a tip of the doorman for his hospitality, we were off back to our reality, but attribute another great stay in NYC to the great accommodations. We hope to return real soon!

I rented this apartment due to the previous reviews, and the apartment pretty much lived up to what I'd hoped for, however there are a few areas the owners need to improve on to make the stay 5* The good: * Fantastic location - 30 second walk from subway station, 5-10 mins from Times Square, plenty of shops/delis etc * Modern apartment which was relatively clean * View, looking over Empire State Building - great to wake up to / fall asleep to * Friendly door staff, feels secure The bad: * Apartment needs a bit of TLC, lots of scratches on the wall and mouldy grouting in the bathroom, wouldn't take much to fix this * We stayed in the winter just after one of the worst snow storms NY has had in years, and we did not get a duvet for the bed! We got a thin sheet and a throw. There was an old, stained duvet in the wardrobe which we were reluctant to use as there were no duvet covers, and thankfully the apartment didn't get too cold, but surely a duvet and cover is a fairly simple thing to supply! * Soap not supplied in the bathroom * I asked Roy to see if we could extend our check-out time as we had an evening flight, and when I dealt with Adrienne she mentioned this might be possible if there was no-one staying that day. However, when I tried to confirm this closer to the time Adrienne's email stopped working, and I ended up dealing with Roy. In a nutshell, we batted emails back and forth, and he never said whether anyone was staying that day and whether we could check out late, he just told us to leave our bags with the concierge, and give them $20 (which is very steep to put a couple of suitcases in a back room for a couple of hours). In the end, the concierge allowed us to leave the bags for free (although I did tip). To be clear, it wasn't the fact that we couldn't extend check-out, it's the fact that we couldn't get a clear answer from Roy on whether it would be possible which I felt was a bit off. * Next door decided to have parties the first two nights we were there, with lots of shouting in the hallways and music playing, not great after an 8 hour flight and jet lag. I hope the review doesn't come across overly negative, as we had a fantastic time, I just think it wouldn't take very much to make the apartment near perfect for a stay, and wanted to give an honest, objective opinion. Overall, would I recommend the apartment? Yes. Could it be improved with not a lot of effort to make it truly 5*? Yes
Owner response:This review is very contradicting . The first contradiction is the cleanliness . You are saying the is scratches on the wall .This is done by suitcases rubbing against the wall . If this was the case we would be painting everyother week . The mold in the batheroom for you info that is hair die that is exsteamly little and will go away with time . First you say that all you got was a thin sheet (all sheets are thin ) then you say there was a duvet comforter in the clost that was stained . Really !!! It seems to be clean to everyone else that stays . Lets get to the real point , you were hassling me to keep you luggage in the room till 3:00 I simply told you that if it is alll possible i will arrange for that . When it got closer to your stay there was the next guest coming , the unit needed to be cleaned and prepaired as well as it was done for you . I simply told you to leave your luggage down stairs with the door man you ask if there was any additional cost . I told you to give them a 20 dallar bill . Its christmas . Never dictated a price to you . In all there years we have been renting never got a complaint about the person next door . I asked the person , they told me you never even mentioned it to them . Even while you were together in the elevator . The doorman told me you exspressed how much you enjoyed your stay . Well its nice to know that you gave me a 4 star rating , If ther was a real situation I probably would have received a 1 . Please keep in ming PERFECTION does not exsist !!!! A 4 coming from this reveiw , makes me belive we are very close to PERFECTION

We had a marvelous stay in this apartment. The conditions, location, and view were exactly as advertised. This is a terrific home base for those interested in getting a feel for Manhattan and seeing its highlights. It is within easy walking distance of many things you would want to visit and there are several subway entrances all around the building. Several delis close by also. The apartment was clean and stayed quite warm in cool weather. One minor caveat--don't plan on doing much cooking. The kitchen is tiny and not well equipped for a lot of cooking. There is also extremely limited surface space for eating. Overall, though, a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and we would definitely recommend this apartment.

We had a great time in this apartment. It has all the amentities you could need, with a view to die for. I really don't think you could beat the view of the Empire State Building, it was so great to come home to each night. The owner was great to deal with, and attentive to our needs. Our only recommendation would be to consider to change the bed from a double to a queen size, as we found it smaller than expected, but still comfortable. Would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to be in the centre of the action. Make sure you take a walk to Bryant Park around the corner, they have the best ice skating in NYC, well we think they do. It is a great place to get a snack, and explore the shops the market has to offer. There are also a couple of restaurants you can dine at and watch everyone ice skate. A great stay in NYC, make sure you book early though!

We just returned from NY after a great 10 day vacation. We have not stopped raving about what a fantastic find this Studio was to enjoy such a long vacation in! The description is right on, the view is like you are in heaven! We took so many pictures of it (make sure you bring a tripod to get the best, clearest, crisp pictures)! The location was perfect, close to trains, close to all the restaurants, bagels, pizza, theaters, Times Square etc. We walked everywhere except going into Brooklyn to visit family and friends. We spent most of our time in Manhattan. We loved the fact that we could pack only half the amount of clothes in our luggage and use the laundry facilities in the building to do a load halfway through our vacation. Saved on our airline weight costs! Plus you can use the fitness facilities right next door on the same floor while you are waiting for the laundry! The description of the studio is perfect, layout was roomy, plenty of room for two people yet enough room to entertain family and friends. We brought in leftover Chinese food for the next day, milk, cereal so we did not have to eat out all the time. Restaurants are close. We walked to Broadway to see a show, walked to Times Square several times, went to NY Public Library, Bryant Park and of course Macy's, Fifth Avenue. We did it all and hated to leave! Also the Super Shuttle is available for you and cheaper if you tell them you are staying at the Residence Inn (which is the same building but not considered a condo pick up). Just to be surethat we did not leave the key in the studio, we put it on the closet door handle! The door will lock behind you. Bring extra towels, the hairdryer is there but hidden in a cabinet, bar has liquor, plenty of dishes, pots. You can get milk etc at the Duane Reed around the corner. It is very convenient. We received the keys 2 weeks before our trip, Adrienne was great. We are definitely going to rent this studio again. No more hotel rooms for us! The view was so relaxing!!! You wll not be disappointed. PS, the computer does not work, TV is small screen but otherwise, all was perfect! Besides our vacation was not to watch TV or be on the computer....we can do that at home! Thank you HomeAway for opening our eyes to a great alternative to renting a place to stay!

I will NEVER stay at a hotel in NYC again. This condo exceeded all our expectations. Upon first walking in, the view took our breath away. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the location couldn't have been better! The owners were easy to work with and professional. The buidling was clean and quiet, close to Times Square, theaters, subway. Anyone who has anything negative to say about this place must be very hard to please. This condo made our trip one we will never forget.

We thoroughly enjoyed are stay at this studio apt. The location was great and the pictures are very true to the actual unit. We did have to go purchase some soap and tp, but that was a minor inconvenience, considering the nightly rate. We were in NYC to experience as many of the sights, sounds, and tastes of the city as possible, and found that coming "home" to our little studio at the end of the day was one of the best things about our trip. It was comfortable, convenient and had everything we needed. We will definitely recommend this property to our family and friends

The view is unbelievable, the location is awesome! The apartment is very nice, the kitchen is new and updated, but the amenities were few - so take paper products (paper towels, napkins, tissues) TP (newspaper style) is provided. The computer in the room does not work, and you may want to bring a longer cable (this was a working vacation for me, so the internet was necessary) The regular doorman is friendly and helpful! With a few minor improvements this could be a 5 star.

We just got back from being at this apartment a week ago and we absolutely loved it! The location is incredible about 2 blocks from Times Square 2 blocks from Bryant Park and 5th Avenue shopping. What we couldn't get over was the fact that you can not hear any noise from the street, we slept peacefully for all 3 nights we stayed there. The doorman were very polite and helpful, they even helped us to the cab with our luggage! My kids fell in love with the view undisrupted view of the Empire State Building. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone, Adrienne was very helpful and quick to respond to any of our concerns or inquiries.

We appreciated being able to leave our luggage off after our long and tiring trip. When we finally came back to the apartment we found it to be not up to our standards for cleanliness and with amenities. We are not very picky travelers and have stayed at a variety of hotels, motels, condos, homes, etc... on our various travels. When a renter finds hair all over the apartment and trash behind the sofa, plus a kitchen knife under the bed- we thought it odd but perhaps the cleaners had not come. Indeed the housekeeper had (we saw her when we dropped off our luggage) and she did not do a good job at all. We spent 40 minutes vacuuming up the hair and dusting. The sofa bed had no sheets, there was no soap for the bathroom, and no toilet paper except a small bit left on the roll. We called the owner who was fortunately still available and told him our problems. He was not overly friendly or helpful but did come to the apartment eventually and gave us sheets for the sofa bed. We went out and purchased our own soap and toilet paper. One would expect not to have to do this when renting. After that our stay was very nice and a perfect location for the subway and many NYC attractions. The bellmen downstairs were VERY helpful and nice every time we entered or exited the building. Having a washer and dryer available was a godsend and the view of the Empire State Building was amazing, especially at night. If you are planning on staying in NYC I would recommend this property- just be prepared to sweep up and bring your own TP. Very tight fit for 4 but perfect for 2 people.

Location, location, location! This apartment is within walking distance of everything!. Clean and modern, perfect for a couple. We enjoyed all the touristy stuff and got to live like a new yorker for a week. We purchased frozen goods at Jack's 99 cent store , walked up to Bryant park for a lovely sunny afternoon walk, ate at "Divine Bites" and shopped until we dropped. Look no more, this is the place to rent! Oh! Use the super shuttle to go to and from the airport, the shared van price is so low, and the service really good.

Waking up to the Empire State Building right outside the window was something we will never forget. We have been raving to our family and friends about this place and highly recommend to anyone considering. The location was perfect - close to Bryant Park, subways and Times Square. Don't miss a wonderful breakfast at La Pain Quotidien just around the corner and a late night drink at the outdoor Bryant Park Cafe. The listing and photos are very accurate and the owner was easy to work with. We appreciated the sense of security with the full-time door man at the entrance. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

After a very long, extensive, and detailed search for the "perfect" place, in our price range, we decided this apartment was the best choice. We were so very spot-on! First, the location. The building is located on the Southwest corner of 39th Street and 5th Avenue. If you are looking for a great location close to Times Square, Broadway, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, NYC Library, Macy's, and The Empire State Building, be assured that this building is right where you want to be. All of the above are within blocks. An entrance to the subway is a half block away. For a quick drink or bite to eat, a pleasant Irish Pub is situated across the street. Restaurants and drink establishments are all around this unit, and of course a quick 5 or 10 minute walk got us to the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood for some world-renown eateries. As for the look of the apartment itself, this unit is extremely clean and well-maintained. Appliances are upscale. Furnishings are plentiful and comfortable. Three large windows expose a Southern view of Manhattan, and being on the 40th floor -- it's a good one! The Empire State Building is right there in the window, only a few blocks away. The pictures really do not do the view justice, especially at night when the city is lit up. All of these features lead to the value of this unit. You get everything you hope for in location and amenities, at a rate similar or less than what most less-than-spectacular hotel rooms throughout Midtown Manhattan demand. Adrienne is responsive to emails and/or phone calls, very friendly, and particularly hospitable. We very much appreciated working with her. This rental has received 5 out of 5 stars each and every review, and with good reason. We rented with full confidence, and were able to have a fabulous, romantic weekend in the city without ever once doubting that we would return back each night to amazing accommodations.

My girlfriend and I were in NYC for christmasshopping in Dec 2009. We stayed at this apartment, it was perfect! The apartment is close to everything what you need for christmasshopping and romantic moments, Times Square, Macys, Empire State Center and even the christmastree at the Rockefeller Center is in walking distance. The best, just behind the block, in Bryant Park, is a big christmas market with free ice skating. The aparment itself is upscale and very clean. The view is gigantic!!! Laying in bed you have a perfect view on the Empire State Buliding. Forget about searching restaurants and bars with a view, you have the best from your bed ;-) You can even see the statue of Liberty, but this is really far away but in between you have the entire city. We really recommend this spot and will return ourselves, for sure. Adrienne is so nice and everything went smooth, thanks for that!

What can I say..........the view, the view, the view.....simply amazing. Hard to beat it. Also, location, location, location. Easy walk to Times Square, subway, Bryant Park, library, theatre district. Perfect size for 2 people but could fit 4. Clean, safe, quiet. All around great place to stay. I highly recommend it.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and it was superb. Location wise its just off Bryant Park and literally only around the corner from Times Square. Ideal location for a city break. The view is superb. The pictures just cant do justice to the night time panorama, the Empire State, in all its majesty, looks almost within touching distance! And past it you can even make out the Brooklyn Bridge. So basically you can sight see from the apt! The apt itself is perfect for two and spotlessly clean. Fully recommended.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed your upscale apartment. It was clean, safe, and convenient to everything! We even used the gym and laundry facilities. The photos don't do it justice; the views are incredible!

I would say most is as billed with this apartment. Was an awesome location(many subway options and cabs easily hailed at the corner) and very clean and in order. There are curtains on the windows now so no worries there. Working with Adrienne was a dream.....Only FYI is that the bed is not a Queen size, it is a Full. In our younger years this may not have been an issue but we both tend to toss and turn a bit and a queen is as small as we can handle....didn't drop our overall experiece as the location and the view of the empire state building were just so over the top great...but....the property description needs to be brought up to date.

We stayed in this apartment in Sept 2009 for six days. On entering the apartment we were stunned by the amazing views, especially of the Empire state building. We found we didnt want to go to sleep as we couldnt stop looking at the view. The location was very central to uptown and downtown Manhatten, and the subway just around the corner made it easy to get around. The apartment was clean and tidy, and dealing with Adrienne was always very easy. Renting the apartment was very good value for money, and nicer than staying in a hotel. We would thoroughly recommend it. Thankyou Adrienne for helping make our first trip to New York a fantastic experience.

Wanted to experience NY without the hotel so we booked this and stayed here over Thanksgiving in 2008. Lovely apartment - view of Empire State Building is AMAZING...!!! Really takes your breath away - good for the soul!! Clean and tidy apartment - quite compact but great for 2 guests and has everything you need. Great that there is a 24hr concierge as this makes you feel safer at night. Loved every minute of our stay and would recommend this apartment again no worries.

Brilliant location, fantastic views especially at sunset. We stayed a week and never tired of the apartment. Clean, everything as in description. If I was to pick fault - there was no kettle or toaster. A saucepan of water heated on the gas ring did the job for a cuppa! Because there are no blinds at the windows - I did feel a little uncomfortable in the evenings as we could see into the apartments over looking so they must have been able to see us when the tv/lights were on. Times Sq & broadway right on the doorstep - subway around the corner - get a metro ticket for the duration of your stay - it can be used on trains and local buses for unlimited journeys. $25 for 7 days or $7.50 for the day. We certainly had our monies worth and explored NYC from top to bottom. We went to Grand Central every day, then got a train on spec using a different colour/route, got off when we felt like it, if we didn't like an area we got another train and went somewhere else!! We have stayed in NYC hotels before and this was the first time in a private apartment - definately do it again and would recommend to anyone.

This place was fantastic! I loved coming "home" each night to the spectacular view! We whipped up a few things in the kitchen as well as having some dinners delivered so we could soak up the sights of Manhattan. So perfectly located with Times Square just a few blocks away and the subway even closer - it really was all I hoped. I'll definitely be coming back!

This apartment is a gem! I loved it! It's absolutely gorgeous and in a perfect location, just a five-minute walk to Times Square...but also very quiet and safe. Communication with Adrienne (the owner) was excellent and prompt. I will definitely stay here again when I return to NYC.
