Only a stone’s throw from the shores of beautiful Flathead Lake, sits “Somers Bay Lighthouse.” Recently designed and built with a lighthouse in mind, this unique home offers some of the loveliest views in the valley. This top quality home sits on 2 acres of land and is nicely landscaped with shrubs, manicured lawns, and two delicious cherry trees.
Located on the north end of Flathead Lake this is a wonderful place to base your vacation in the Flathead Valley. You have some of the most beautiful panoramic lake views, yet you are only 8 minutes to Kalispell, 30 minutes to Blacktail Ski Resort and 45 minutes to Glacier National Park or Big Mountain Ski Resort.
Somers’ charm is due to the geographic land shapes and historic past as a “Company Town” and port for the paddle wheeler bringing passengers and freight up from Polson. It grew when the lumber industry boomed, hitting its peak in 1901. Walk the streets in Somers with names like Battle Hollow, Breezy Point, Pavilion Hill and Swede Hill and feel the history come alive.
Stroll down the shoreline on the paved historic bike trail to the swimming beach and park or walk into the old logging town of Somers for a good breakfast at the Somers Bay Café or steamed clams at Tiebuckers. Dell’s Bar is famous for it’s Mac Attack Fishing Derby and its tasty pizzas, and for superb views while dining, Mackinaws Grill is hard to beat.
Wake up in the master suite to a beautiful sunrise spilling over the Swan Mountain Range and shimmering off the lake surface. The master bedroom is in the top of the lighthouse, with a four poster queen bed, a small observation deck and stunning vistas. The bath features craftsman style cherry cabinets and a large tiled bathroom with a soaking tub for two that is trimmed with sparking glass tiles.
The main floor of the home has a well laid out and outfitted kitchen with granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances. The living room, kitchen, dining room and hall have hand scraped bamboo flooring.
The 3287 sq ft house is warmly decorated and is a great place for family gatherings. The large main floor bedroom has a queen bed and a sitting area with views looking to the north and south lawns and is very pastoral. The lower floor has 2 more nicely furnished bed rooms with lake views, one with a trundle bed and the other with a queen.

Why the Owner Chose Somers
My husband and I left the West Coast of California thirty nine years ago to ride the wave of the “Back to the land Movement”. We bought a little piece of land in the country, built our log home, grew our own food and raised a gamut of farm critters. We loved our farm but we also were missing the water
.
In 2003 we bought an older cabin on Flathead Lake and after spending our first night there we never spent another at the ranch. We missed the water too much.
Flathead Lake is a very special lake. While watching the constantly changing lake views, seeing the evening alpine glow on the Rocky Mountains or watching the lake ice breakup in the winter shows the handy work of God right before your eyes. We love it here.
Two years later we built and moved into our permanent home next door to our lovely historic cabin which we now rent weekly on VRBO. That has been such a success that in 2006 we built the Lighthouse as a weekly rental. Although, it is not on the lake it has one of the best lake views we believe in the valley.
We hope you will enjoy the Flathead valley as much as we do.
