Why the Owner Chose Alligator Point
This is the "Forgotten Coast." Home of the last "Real Florida" beaches. The area was protected by State and Federal Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Refuges many years ago, so it remains natural and pristine. The locals still fish for a living, and development was never allowed to run rampant. It is one of the few beaches in Florida where you can still find shells, sand dollars, starfish, coral and other sea life. The porpoises play along the shore with no fear of careless boaters, jet skis, and throngs of tourists. The pelicans and herons fish the shallow surf, as you watch in awe. The beach remains very much like the photographs from 65 years ago, when my grandfather owned a home on Alligator Point. To this day, his home still stands. No condos, or chain hotels or souvenier shops have taken its place. It's a trip back in time to "the real Florida!"
The Unique Benefits at this House
Privacy, privacy, privacy! As a native Floridian, I am not fond of crowded tourist traps. This location is incredibly private. Most days you will have the entire beach to yourself! You can watch your kids play on the beach without fear of traffic, bad influences or strangers. During low tide, even the smallest children can play in knee deep water on one of the many sand bars. Because this is a low-impact beach; overpowering waves and undercurrents are rare. The sand dollars, starfish, coral and sponge and seashells are abundant.
Known for excellent fishing, kayaking, salt marshes, wildlife viewing, bird watching, hiking and pristine beaches.
This is the correct location of the beach house. Because it is surrounded by award winning Florida State Park, mapping software can not detect the actual location.
A beautiful island that can only be reached by air or boat. Head over to Carrabelle for the day - and take a boat ride over.
A must see trip with the kids. Pack a lunch or have lunch at the lodge. Take a glass bottom boat ride through the beautiful Springs were many old movies were made. Spend the day swimming in the crystal clear, cold springs.
Spend the day shopping and walking around this Old Forgotten Coast Town.
Take a panoramic view of Tallahassee from the top of the Capitol, visit Imax Theater, many historic sites, go to an FSU game, Springtime Tallahassee Festival, Downtown Get Down, Market Days, FSU Circus, Maclay Gardens and much more!
Owner's Map of Alligator Point
I'm from Tallahassee, but have lived in Atlanta for 25 years. I grew up fishing, crabbing and sun-tanning on Alligator Point at my Granddaddy's beach house. I built this house to accomodate my family and my husband's family. We have spent countless nights watching the shooting stars, eating roasted oysters and watching our kids grow up on the beach! Those memories will outlast us! We have traveled the world, but nothing compares to a family vacation at this beach. The privacy and the safety can't be found on another beach. I hope that you make some lifetime memories with your family and friends, also!

We had a great time at Heavenly Sunrise. It was just as described, everything was clean and in great shape. The views are spectacular from every room. Me, my Wife, 4 yr old son, 18 month old daughter, and my Mom (Nana) stayed at the house for a week. All the bedrooms are large and plenty of room in the living area for the kids to play. Everything you need was there. Sharon was great also, we ended up calling her last minute and she jumped through alot of hoops to get us in the house. We are so glad she did because we loved it. We saw dolphins playing in the surf, and even 3 manatees playing in the surf at the dock in the state park just down the road from the house. Plenty of great restaurants close by, and you must visit the aquarium in Panacea and go to Wakulla springs for the boat ride and swimming while you're here. We couldn't have asked for more. We definately recommend this house for anyone. Thanks for letting us use your house for the week!

My family and I rented The Heavenly Sunrise for the most memorable and relaxing vacation we have ever had, the listing of the house is completely accurate down to the smallest detail. The home's ammenities are above and beyond, we cooked all our family's meals in the fully stocked kitchen, what a treat not to have to eat out for a week and to sit down and eat as a family. The photos listed on the home's website are an exact representation of the home you walk into when you arrive and it is everything we imagined and more. The house is everything I could possibly want or need in a vacation rental, private, quiet location with views that cannot be rivaled, beaches to stroll day and night without the worry of crowds, plenty of opportunity to teach your children about the great outdoors in an environment they do not live in, and the peace and serenity to sit back, relax and enjoy God's splendor. The owner of the house could not have been more helpful, all my questions (and there were many) were answered completely and in a very timely manner, a true delight to correspond with and rent from. We intend to make this home our go to spot for all of our future family vacations. While staying at the house we visited Wakulla Springs and took the river boat ride that is amazing, and we also visited the Gulf Specimen Lab, which my children absolutely loved, where else can you actually touch creatures from the Gulf of Mexico and learn about their habitats and bring in your own specimens off the beach and have people explain what these items are and their place in the eco-system. Our favorite family moment at the house was watching the dolphins fishing the sandbars in the morning as we ate our breakfast and if we were very lucky they would come back and visit during dinner. I cannot imagine a better vacation for our family, we love to take long walks and enjoy nature's beauty and this vacation home affords many opportunities to partake in these activities. I highly recommend this home to anyone who is looking to relax in one of the most beautiful settings available, enjoy the most amazing sunrises imaginable, bask in the Florida sun on some of the most pure beaches I've ever had the pleasure to visit, watch dolphins and pelicans fishing the Gulf, and just enjoy yourself immensely. No hustle, no bustle, no crowds, no deadlines, no hurry, NO PROBELM! This vacation home delivers in a big way, you won't ever regret spending one moment in this wonderful place.
Owner response:Thanks. You have been one of our most frequent guests. Thank you for always being so generous with your beautiful photographs and for caring for our home as if it were your own. (The photo album on the coffee table at The Heavenly Sunrise is filled with beautiful photographs from this guest.) I love thinking about your kids growing up here - having the same memories that my kids have!! You are welcome anytime!

This beach house is AWESOME! We have enjoyed going there many times. We appreciate the wonderful house, great location, peaceful area...it is great for all of our children who span from 7 to 20 years old. Working with the owners is always a pleasure...they are very accomodating. It is a great get-away...not in your typical touristy areas. We love it and will keep going back!

We spent Winter Break at the Heavenly Sunrise. It was heavenly! It was very quiet - like we had the whole beach for ourselves. We had beautiful weather all week (better than 9 inches of snow at home). The house was beautiful - just like the pictures. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We spent hours on the beach with the kids. We loved the Aquarium, Poseys and the Funky Fiddler in the cute little town over the bridge. I will be telling my friends and other family members about this great place.

Wow! What an awesome week! We were looking for an adventure - something different - and we found it. Uncommon Florida! After several calls to the owner of the beautiful home, we decided on the Heavenly Sunrise - and I'm glad we did. She was very helpful, and because of her suggestions, we had the BEST vacation ever. She told us all about the MUST SEE places to go. We kayaked Chairs Creek and the incredible Wakulla River, we went to the 43rd Annual Appalachicola Seafood Festival, we went on the glass bottom boat ride at pristine Wakulla Springs, ate at Poseys, roasted oysters on the grill at the house, hiked through the trails at the State Park, photographed the incredible sunrises and butterflies, visited the Florida State Capitol, saw an FSU game and walked for hours on the private white sandy beaches surrounding the home. I've never seen Florida like this before. When each day ended, we relaxed in the comfort of the home - where every detail was addressed, from the well stocked kitchen, to the beautiful decor. All the comforts of home - and then some! All of the beds were very comfortable and you could really watch the sunrise right from your bed each morning! Words can not describe the views from every room - even from the kitchen sink while you wash dishes! WOW! We have already booked our vacation for next year!
Owner response:As a native Floridian, I have spent many years enjoying the incredible beauty and adventure that this area, called The Forgotten Coast offers. WE are so grateful that it was "forgotten" by all the condo and commercial developers, and the State and Federal governments stepped in and bought all the remaining land in its pristine condition to preserve as State and National Parks and Wildlife Refuges. Most people never see the salt marshes, the native wildlife, or the sand-dollar covered unspoiled beaches of "The Real Florida." I'm glad that you were true adventure seekers. There is still so much that you haven't done - like explore the crystal clear sinkholes, seine for shrimp, kayak with the Manatees, go scalloping and check out the "Downtown Get Down in Tallahassee. You also must come back for Mule Days - unfortunately it is the same weekend as the Appalach Seafood Festival. Ahhhh decisions - decisions! I've already reserved your week next year!

What a great vacation! We can't wait to come back again. We spent a week in October at this lovely home. Blue skies, blue water, white sand, 80 degrees and butterflies everywhere. We have young children and teens and this place was perfect for both. Our 3 year old twins splashed in the surf for hours every day. During low tide, there were tidal pools between the many sandbars where the water was less than knee deep so our small children played without worry. Even at high tide, the surf remained calm. The teens rode bikes through the many bike trails and kayaked in the calm ocean and through Chairs Creek in the state park. The beautiful butterflies were everywhere. The park ranger told us that they stop over for a few months in the fall of every year on their migration south for the winter. What a blessing. They would land on us, while we laid out at the beach each day! The home was clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable and the decor was very beachy. There were plenty of family movies, books and games. The kitchen had more pots, pans, appliances and dishes than I have in my own kitchen at home. The owners thought of every detail. We loved going into town to eat at Poseys...home of the best fried shrimp and grouper sandwiches I've ever eaten. Most days we would stop at My Way and purchase fresh seafood caught daily, and bring it home to cook on the grill. Every evening, we sat out on the deck and watched the shooting stars while we listened to the surf, The mornings were incredible. The home is aptly named...the sunrises were HEAVENLY! I loved waking up to see them from my bed every morning. Each morning brought a more beautiful sunrise than the day before. We walked to the State Park everyday, where we would watch the birds from the wildlife viewing pavillion over the salt marsh and check out the daily catch on the fishing pier. I never knew there was a Florida like this! It was like we were millionairs that owned our own private island. We had the whole beach to ourselves for the entire week. We can't wait til next year to come back again. Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to us!
Owner response:Thank you for taking care of our home. We love this place too. We tried to leave bikes for our guests to enjoy, but they would rust before the season ended. The salt air, while refeshing, is relentless on metal objects like bicycle chains. I'm glad you thought to bring your kids bikes with you. We welcome you back anytime!

We spent a gloriously relaxing week at The Heavenly Sunrise. It was everything we needed, and more than we could have hoped for. Comfy furnishings, plenty of bedrooms to have the grandparents come for a few nights, and a pristine, uncrowded beach for exploring and adventure. Our son is 3, and we were worried about keeping him entertained, but those worries were unfounded. The nearby town features a small aquarium that provided hours of educational entertaiment, and nearby is Wakulla Springs that was a great half-day trip, including a delicious lunch in the restaurant inside the on-property inn. Plus the beach and the great supply of beach toys! We have great memories of a truly wonderful family time together in The Heavenly Sunrise.
Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed the home as much as we do! Thank you for treating our home with the same care you would treat your own. It thrills us to share our home with families to make lasting memories for their children, just as we did and still do with our kids (young adults now,) You are welcome back anytime!

Don't be fooled by the Pictures and the Description. Upon my family vacation arrival on 10/3/2010 we found the home a mess and refused to stay! The home furnishings looked like something you would pick up for trash beside the road. They where covered with water stains and broken. The couch and loveseat were torn and sewn together with what looked like fishing string. The bed linens where stained. The steps leading up to the living area from ground level didn't look like they had been cleaned in years. The wall and doors through out the home was stained with filth and also with holes that had been unprofessionally patched. The Washer and Dryer was covered with rust and scratches. The Dryer was propted up with Wood. The refrigerator crisper drawers had been shattered sometime in the past and taped back together with clear tape. Blinds in the bedroom facing the neighbors to the east were missing but were leaned up against the wall. Personel items found in the master suit dresser drawer from God Knows Who! The outside shower wall was broken out with a big hole and weeds growing up thru the shower stall. The dust throught the home was not for someone with allergies like us. The wall decor was broken and coverd with dust. Some of the outside structeral walls and ceiling had cracks through out and we didn't know if the home was safe to be occupied. The outside of the back of the home was covered with mold not for someone with allergies like us. and least, but last the outdoor gas grill of the home was something that words I don't think could ever decripe. "Rust Bucket" Don't be fooled and have to pay for your vacation twice like we had to.
