Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

Hi there! Originally from Boston, I started visiting North Bennington in 2000. After a couple of years of weekend visits and getting tired of the Boston rat race I finally took the plunge and moved here in 2004. I'm a contractor by trade and when I'm not swinging a hammer you can find me hiking the local trails, xc skiing, enjoying our local restaurants, activities and everything our little corner of Vermont has to offer.

Why the Owner Chose Bennington

North Bennington is a great central location; the southern end of the Green Mtns, the Berkshires of western Mass, the outlet shopping of Manchester - and less than an hour from Albany, NY. It's close to all of these activities and destinations so you can easily enjoy them yet you're not on top of them so you're not caught in the crush of humanity during busy times. I bought the townhouse because it's close to my own home and is convenient for friends and family to stay when they come to visit; Boston and New York city are only 3 hours away by car.

The Unique Benefits of this Condo

The townhouse is in a quiet, two unit building in a residential area yet is a short walk to the village center and other amenities. It overlooks the front, back and side yards with barely another house in sight so you really get a sense of having your own space. And, in the unlikely event anything should go wrong during your stay (stuff happens!) I live close enough by to deal with it asap.

Only minutes away from Bennington College

Guest: Bostonian (Boston MA)
Date of Stay: 07/17/11 Review Submitted: 08/12/11

I stayed here for two weeks while taking workshops at Bennington College. The condo is fully equipped and very comfortable. It is essentially a duplex, with one other condo next door, but it is very private and quiet. I would strongly recommend this to anyone staying in the Bennington area, especially if you are interested in quiet comfort in a rural setting.

Overlea Heights Townhouse

Our stays at Overlea Heights Townhouse are memorable. The condo is beautifully furnished in a way that captures the era when the house was built. Vermont village life is within walking distance. The beautiful grounds of Bennington College are nearby. We also recommend the Mile-Around-the-the-Woods Trail which we walked each day.

Great place in North Bennington

We needed a place near Bennington College while visiting our son, and this was the perfect place. It is a short walk to the campus and had ample room for us to entertain our son and his buddies. We enjoyed the use of the outdoor barbecue, the Internet access, the TV, CD player, the washer and dryer and the many books available at the condo. A home away from home, this is place is clean and well equipped.

I stayed here for a month and it was just incredible. The condo is really homey, comfortable, charming and had everything I needed plus the landlord is wonderful. It's near a great village with many places to walk. I travel alot and am very picky - have only positive comments about my time here. Enjoy your stay!!!

INCREDIBLE BUSINESSMAN (OR WOMAN'S) PARADISE!

Guest: Tracie (Bennington, Vermont)
Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 11/07/10

We had a business associate who needed to be in Bennington for a few weeks and finding this cozy and spacious home was a Godsend! The furnishings - down to the smallest detail- make the two-story apartment feel like the home it once was - and the amenities like fancy TV with cable, telephone, washer-dryer, made it fantastic. The kitchen is incredible- you could cook a dinner for twelve in it - and the claw foot bathtub was so inviting. The place was impeccably furnished and immaculately clean. It's also really convenient, especially fro Vermont where everything is usually so remote. When our associate wanted a bite or a change of scene, he was able to take a brisk stroll through the charming neighborhood to the nearly 200 year old Powers Market for the New York Times, great coffee and breakfast and lunch, and walk home past the volunteer firehouse and rushing Walloomsac waterfall. He loved it so much he may even move here - all thanks to this swell spot.

Great place to stay and a great location in North Bennington

Guest: Marty (Federal Way, WA)
Date of Stay: 09/23/10 Review Submitted: 10/13/10

My wife and I spent a week in the Bennington area at this property and it met all of our expectations. The condo is well equipped and comfortable. Clearly, the proprietor has made an effort to make the place comfortable and functional for guests. He is also responsive to questions and needs, both in advance of the stay and during the stay. Bennington is a very strategic location for seeing many sights in New England and we were well situated for day trips -- we enjoyed two sojourns into western Mass., one into New Hampshire and other days keeping busy in Vermont. Albany, NY is just an hour away.

We stayed at this well equipped condo for four months while our new house was under construction. It was all anyone could want. The condo was clean, comfortable with a well stocked kitchen and pantry .The owner was readily accessible and provided quick responses to all our needs . North Bennington is a charming town and offers a top quality restaurant as well as a great pub, a library, post office and access to resources at Bennington College.

Overlea Heights is a terrific vacation getaway. The home is well located and carefully maintained. We enjoyed being so close to all that southwestern Vermont has to offer. The proximity to Western Massachusetts/The Berkshires and New York State is also a plus. We look forward to our next visit.

I wanted to live here forever, it was that good

Guest: Hatgirl (Ithaca, NY)
Date of Stay: 04/17/10 Review Submitted: 10/01/10

My friend & I stayed here in April 2010 for our annual getaway, and we couldn't have picked a better place. It was like being at home, but much nicer! The condo was immaculate, my bed linens were plush, the bed itself was wondrously comfortable and the window was perfectly situated. I adored the bathroom (incredibly flattering lighting in there, should you care). We made ample use of the kitchen and thought it was fantastic. I loved the couch in the living room so much that I wanted to take it home with me. The patio out back was great for enjoying the spring breezes, and my friend & I enjoyed the heck out of the fire pit out back. The condo was in the perfect location- on a nice residential street but not noisy. An easy walk downtown or the nearby park and pond. A simple drive into downtown Bennington. Norm was the ultimate host. Communication with him was excellent from the moment we inquired about the condo, to after we'd checked out. He was even kind enough to come over in person and fix our wireless internet connection. This was such a wonderful trip; I dream of returning here again soon. Can't recommend highly enough!

A wonderful vacation spot!

Guest: Terri Beth (Newington, CT)
Date of Stay: 04/11/10 Review Submitted: 10/01/10

My friend and I spent a fantastic, relaxing week at this property in the Spring of 2010. The pictures are lovely, but they can't really do this place justice. The property was beautifully kept, cozy, and spacious. We loved the fire pit, too. The owner was AMAZING. He responded quickly to our every need, and was readily available if we had questions. I would absolutely recommend this property to my friends, and would go there every year if I could!
