Rapid Creek winds like a blue ribbon down from the hills, through the forest, and past the Rapid Creek Lodge. Winter and summer she bustles along, splashing and singing, while the Tetons watch from above, splendid, silent. Rapid Creek Lodge sits just beside the creek, a luxurious log home in a very private, very secluded setting. Ten acres of pasture and aspens surround the house, with the towering Tetons as backdrop. Elk, deer and moose, shy and majestic, often come out of the vast national forest just a quarter mile away, to visit the creek.
The center of the three-bedroom house is one great room, divided by a massive, two-sided river rock fireplace into living and dining areas, and by a granite-topped breakfast bar from the kitchen. The vaulted ceiling is two stories high, and soaring windows bring the sparkling blue creek, the shimmering aspens and the wide open sky right inside. Bookshelves hold many treasures, as well as a large flat screen tv. Off the living room is the spacious master suite, with king-size bed and doors that open to a private deck and the bright mountain air of Wyoming. A dressing room and sumptuous bathroom, finished in stone, with a jetted tub and double shower are part of the master suite.
On the opposite side of the first floor is a second bedroom, with a queen bed, comfortable reading chair and private bath; a roomy mudroom sufficient to hold all outdoor equipment, and a laundry room. A few steps farther along is the heated, two-car garage.
On the second floor, an open bridge over the entryway leads to a loft-like game room, with full pool table and big flat screen tv. There are also two queen-size futons here, for overflow sleeping. At the other end of the bridge is a lovely guest room with a king bed, and private bath with double sinks.
The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the breakfast bar has an absolutely spectacular view out the high dining room windows. A Sub-Zero refrigerator, professional range, double oven, center granite-topped island and heated floors all make this a very pleasant kitchen.
The dining atmosphere is warmed by the gas fireplace and a view beyond the hot tub towards the mountains and twinkling stars above.
Just minutes from the quaint, scenic old towns of Driggs and Victor, and a 45 minute drive to both Jackson and Teton Village, Rapid Creek sits in the very heart of ski country. Nearby Grand Targhee has the best powder anywhere - skiing there is like soaring through clouds. Adventure back country skiing, cross country and heliskiing challenge even the most experienced sports enthusiasts. The Rapid Creek property is also an ideal place to snowshoe – with access to endless terrain and perfect soft, deep snow. Summer here is magical; a horse corral is right outside, a four stall barn is a short walk away through the aspens, and riding and hiking trails into the Jediah Wilderness start from the back door.
