A few years ago, we took a bicycle vacation around the San Juan Islands, north of Seattle on Puget Sound. One afternoon we happened upon a rundown fifties house with the most amazing views overlooking East Sound and Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. To our good fortune, it was for sale.
Before long, it was ours. Now came the task of transforming this tired ranch house into our beloved Orcas Sky Villa. It would be 'green'- with state-of-the-art systems, sustainable building practices and materials. Our villa would be in the Northwest-style with a contemporary edge- lots of wood, lots of windows, stone floors, rock fireplaces, natural surroundings and inspiring views. Cozy on gray days, wide open in summer. Enough room for our extended family to celebrate holidays and special occasions in any season.
Three years, many happy and sometimes not-so-happy surprises and a few bumps in the road, we have realized our dream- a beautiful Northwest home, better that we'd ever imagined, recreated for our enjoyment and yours. We invite you to stay at Orcas Sky Villa.
Arrive on Orcas Island by ferry from Anacortes, Washington or fly from Seattle. Once ashore, drive through stands of old-growth forest and bucolic pastures to Orcas Sky Villa, 20 minutes from the dock. Pass through Eastsound, a scenic little village with restaurants, groceries, kayak and bicycle rental and such. Our home is off a small road on the eastern flank of the island, facing west, overlooking East Sound. Public rooms are central to the horizontal layout or the house with master suite at one end and additional bedrooms on the other. Each room (except the media room) has a view of the bay and beyond.

Low season only - $1000/night - four night minimum
