The Salty Dog has two king master bedrooms, four and a half baths, large great room, game/media room, large pool and a six person hot tub which makes it perfect for multiple or extended family vacations.
Top Level: Features a spacious great room complete with vaulted ceiling and fireplace, a dining area and kitchen with breakfast bar and a large wrap around deck. New furniture and large flat screen TV added in 2010. A half bath is also located on this level. The top level also includes a master bedroom with vaulted ceiling and a full bath.
Middle Level: Contains three bedrooms including a master bedroom with king bed and a full bath, a second bedroom with a queen bed and a third bedroom with two bunk sets. A laundry with washer and dryer and a full bath are also located on this level. Access to the mid-level deck, where a two-person hammock awaits, is available from a common area and the master bedroom.
Lower Level: Includes two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a second with two twin beds. This level also contains a full bath. A media/game room with large flatscreen TV, a futon, wet bar, mini fridge and microwave is directly adjacent to the pool area.
The great room, media/game room and five of the six bedrooms have televisions. Wifi with high-speed Internet access via cable modem is available as are multiple stereos, VCR, DVD and CD players. All bedrooms except those on the lower level have ceiling fans.
The Salty Dog features a large pool, large concrete pool surround, many lounge chairs and umbrellas. The hot tub is located in the pool area. Other amenities include outdoor shower, barbecue grill, basketball rim, pak-n-play, highchair, baby gate, beach cart and numerous beach toys chairs and umbrellas.
For early risers its just a short, 280 yards, walk to the beach. Watch the sun come up, walk your dogs, hunt for shells or catch a fish! Later in the day the Salty Dog beach cart makes it simple to pack up beach toys, chairs and everything else and head to the ocean. If your pleasure is walking along the ocean in the evening then the Ocean Sands beach can not be beat. Plus this is a secluded neighborhood where you can enjoy a quiet walk in the evening.
Wildlife thrives in the area, thanks to the North Carolina Reserve Estuary and the Corolla Wild Horse Fund Inc. From the Salty Dog it's a one block walk south to a freshwater lake, which is home to turtles (love grapes) and fish and a short walk north to a lagoon where, if you are lucky, otters can be spotted. To do our part to benefit the environment American Beachgrass, Ammophila breviligulata Fern was planted at the Salty Dog in February of 2008.
Athletes can jog around the lake, head for the community tennis courts just across the lake or play basketball right at the Salty Dog. The Reese-Jones designed championship golf course is nearby with the entrance to the Currituck Club less than a mile and a half away.
Head north to explore Corolla Village with its unique shops, climb the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, drive on the beach in your 4X4, tour the Whalehead Club or browse in the Timbuck II Shopping Village. The Corolla public boat launch in Heritage Park provides access to Currituck Sound for fun on the water.
The Harris Teeter Shopping Pavilion, located at the entrance to the Currituck Club, is also nearby.
Want more opportunities to explore, play, shop and eat? Rustic Hatteras Island is forty-five minutes away and provides every water sport imaginable plus nature preserves and lighthouses. We vactioned in the OBX for years. And finally decided to buy a house! We searched until we found the perfect place. The house is comfortable, in a great location, and has just the right stuff! We live 400 mile north but make the trip to NC at least 4 times a year. We have grown kids with kids and it is a wonderful way to get the family together. Extended family and friends are always welcome. We have 2 Bichons. They love going to the beach especially hunting for crabs! The lake is a great place for a doggie walk too.

Corolla is a wonderful family vacation destination. We enjoy the beach, exploring this historic area and shopping!!! Walking the beach in the morning, looking for shells and sea glass starts our day. We pack a lunch and head back to the beach for a day of sandcastle building and relaxing. In the evening, grab the flashlights and go on a crab hunt! My grandkids favorite beach walk!! Or a short trip to TimBukTu for a game of mini golf or go carts and ice cream.

We stayed at the Salty Dog for a week in June, and it couldn't have been nicer! The layout made it comfortable for family members to have their privacy, yet we were all able to spend time with each other in the spacious LR/Kitchen area on the top floor. Everything we needed was supplied: pool, hot-tub, entertainment. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable! Bathrooms were plentiful and immaculate! We had relatives from CA and Florida who were quite impressed with this house and wish to return next year! We were close to food shopping, a short walk to the beach or a nearby lake. I can't say enough about how wonderful this vacation home was! Thanks!!! We'll be back!!!

This is a wonderful house. Our group of 10 just returned from an incredible weekend at the Salty Dog. Everyone loved it. The great room is bright, open, and airy. We spent a lot of time together in it when not at the beach, which is a short walk away, and when cooking large meals for all 10. The rooms were all comfortable. The decks and pool/hot tub mean there's a way to relax for everyone. We'd stayed in another house in the same neighborhood a few times before. After this trip, everyone declared that "this was the new house."
