This is a great condo, well taken care of. Overall, apart from the tasteful decor and furnishings of the condo, what distinguishes it from the numerous other rentals we have experienced in the past is the quantity and quality of the kitchen items provided. My wife, who loves to cook, jokingly said that the only thing she was missing was an..apron! Otherwise, she might as well have been at home. The bed was very comfortable, everything worked well and the beach chairs and umbrella were of great quality (not the case in most rentals). We cannot think of anything that could be improved.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I have rented numerous times through VRBO in the US and abroad, and this was my favorite! The setting, comfort, cleanliness, amenities, and decor couldn't be beat. Ken and Wanda did an amazing job remodeling, using every foot of available space to turn this older condo into an open and modern masterpiece. This was our first visit to Kauai and we were very happy to have chosen this location. It was an easy drive to the hikes of Waimea Canyon and the north shore, both in opposite directions. There were restaurants in a shopping plaza about a quarter mile away. The Beach House Restaurant was adjacent to the property. We had dinner there twice and loved it. We had a hard time getting out of the condo in the mornings. We were happy just relaxing and drinking our coffee on the lanai overlooking the water. This was a truly wonderful experience. As soon as we figure out our vacation time for 2014, we will be calling Ken and Wanda again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This condo is great! When they said it had everything they weren’t kidding. Thanks for providing so much for your guests. Ken and Wanda are also wonderful communicators. They always responded quickly and even provided us with reminders of events that were going on during our stay. Mahalo! We loved how the condo was furnished. The decorating is superb. Lots of modern amenities, even the internet was fast. There is always a nice breeze coming through the condo. The bed is very comfortable with tons of pillows. Lots of people compliment hearing the waves crash; you must experience it to believe it. It is so soothing, now I miss it so much. There are also so many turtles in that small cove. We saw many people stop and dangerously climb through the rocks to snorkel with ‘our’ turtles. #1 Recommendation: Hit Costco when you arrive, it is close to the airport. You can get all your groceries for your stay and some souvenirs too! You can also get gas for your rental car, cheaper too. Average gas was $4.49, Costco gas was $4.21! Get the spicy or wasabi ahi poke, kona coffee, Mauna Loa candies, steaks, pizza, turkey wraps, liquor, milk and of course the pineapple upside-down cake! #2: Be sure to bring your own recycle bags. They do not use plastic bags at any of the grocery stores (not even Kmart). We also brought some of our own food. I’m so happy that we brought olive oil, marinating rubs, breakfast bars, oatmeal and instant rice and mash potatoes! As you can imagine, we didn’t eat out much. If you have never been to a Luau, be sure to catch the Hyatt Luau (Sun & Thurs). Another dinner idea is a dinner cruise up the Na Pali Coast (Capt Andy’s Southern Star). No better way to experience this part of Kauai. If you are scuba divers, be sure to dive Ni’ihau. A monk seal (endangered) kissed my husband on the head! Crystal clear waters, a must dive! Snorkeling is wonderful too. I heard from several people that the snorkeling in front of the Beach House is the best on the island. Poipu is also a great location. The north is great to visit, but the weather is unpredictable there. It is always sunny in Poipu ;) You can’t lose with renting this condo. The fact that is often booked speaks for itself. I hope to return someday to KS206. Mahalo Ken & Wanda!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Staying at this gorgeous condo really made our honeymoon so much better! The view from the Lanai are mesmerizing, the condo is stocked with everything you need after a quick stop at your local grocery store for food and drinks. I work in hotels and the details are nothing you will ever get at your 5 star hotel, Its better!! The bed is so comfy, the condo is at the perfect location and I would not want to stay anywhere else. Working with Mr. and Mrs. Brent was so amazing and they made us feel right at home. We cant wait for another visit to what we call Paradise!!! Thanks and love you guysRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is an absolutely beautiful condo (the website pictures don't do it justice). Nestled into the south shore it's a true holiday oasis. The condo is gorgeous, tastefully done, and stocked with everything you need for a great vacation (snorkelling equipment, beach chairs/towels, coolers, blender, etc)! The lanai is perfect for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails and the adjacent lagoon has daily visits from sea turtles. A cute beach is a 30 second walk and famous Poipu beach is a mere 5 minute drive. The building and surrounding area is very quiet and serene - my wife and I truly didn't want to leave. The owner (Ken) was excellent to deal with from start to finish. We're a well-travelled couple and would rank this condo right up there with the bestRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We came to Poipu to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and our 2 weeks were everything that we hoped for. It was our first visit to Kauai so we depended on the website contents plus previous reviews and we were very pleased with our choice. Turtle watching from the lanai was our favourite occupation and this condo is one of the best locations for this-not too high or too low. We ate in most of the time and found the kitchen to be well equiped and the view while eating is outstanding! Ken and Wanda are great hosts and followed up on a couple of suggestions that we had. We have recommended this condo to everyone that we have met since we returned home and would loved to return there for another visitRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here for a week in February, and had a wonderful experience! The condo is spacious, open and very well-kept, and Ken and Wanda have thought of everything necessary for a pleasant and relaxing stay. The ocean breezes keep the condo cool and comfortable, especially when the shutters between the kitchen and bedroom are open, and there is a coin-operated washer and dryer located right across the hall for guests' use, which is something I always like to have available. We are beach people, and were so happy to see good quality beach chairs, an umbrella, beach towels and coolers available for our use. We were also impressed with the good amount (as well the quality) of kitchen items as we generally ate breakfast, lunch and the occasional dinner in. Most mornings we sat on the lanai with our coffee, watching the sea turtles and enjoying the view. We did have quite a bit of rain during our visit, and one day we were excited to see a double rainbow while sitting on the lanai! The condo is very convenient to a multitude of activities (even in the rain), and we were able to walk to Spouting Horn, the Botanical Gardens, the Kukui'ula Village shopping center (with some nice restaurants - Josselin Tapas and Merriman's - and a good farmers' market on Wednesday afternoons) and, of course, the Beach House Restaurant with its expansive lawn for sunset and people watching. The small beach next to the Beach House is one of the best places on Kauai to snorkel - we saw vanloads of snorkelers getting dropped off there every day - and also a good spot to watch surfers when the waves are cooperating. Although there is a perfectly fine, small gourmet grocery store in the Kukui'ula Shopping Center, we did most of our grocery shopping in Koloa at one of the two grocery stores there - also try the Koloa Fish Market for a variety of fresh fish and poke, and the Wine Shop for interesting wines and other goodies. If you have time, we highly recommend a trip to Hanapepe - Fridays are Art Nights and the Hanapepe Cafe serves good food at reasonable prices, as well as the best mango pie ever! We spent an additional week in Hanalei on this trip to Kauai, and have visited Maui and Lanai several times, but we absolutely loved Poipu and Ken and Wanda's condo! We hope to return at some point in the future. Thanks again for a relaxing and memorable visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Ocean Front and Beautiful When we opened the door we could not believe the view! The condo is right on the water and you can see the ocean from every room--including the bathroom. This place has been completely remodeled and has a very open floor plan. There are shutters and sliding doors between the bedroom and living room but we just left everything open the entire time. This is perfect for sleeping with gentle trade winds and the sound of the ocean. We have stayed in other condos before where the furnishing and contents look like hand-me-downs---not here. In unit 206 everything is new and upscale. There is a complete kitchen with quality pots, pans, knives, silverware, appliances, blender, micro with built in toaster, kitchen gadgets, etc. The dishes and glasses are also very nice and they even have nice wine and champagne glasses. Could not have been better since they also had the little things--aluminum foil, napkins, sandwich bags, etc that nobody else provides. The furnishings have an Asian influence and are beautiful and very comfortable. The entire wall facing the ocean is floor-to-ceiling glass. The living room also offers a stereo with an Ipad, Ipod, and Iphone charging station plus a Sony flat screen TV. There is also free internet, so no stupid “resort fees” like the hotels charge. The dining table is perfectly located overlooking the ocean. It is higher than normal so that you can easily see over the balcony and handrail. We had breakfast every morning watching the sunrise over the ocean while we savored the local island offerings--papaya, pineapple, local style apple bananas, guavas, and more. Then we would grab a good book and sit on the balcony and watch the giant green sea turtles play in the surf. These guys are huge--18-24” and you can go swim with them from the beach below. There is good snorkeling on each side of the building and a great grass lawn for your beach chair just steps away in front of the Beach House Restaurant. At sunset--this is the place to be! Grab a beverage, bring a chair or sit on the wall and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean, whales, dolphin, surfers, coastline and sunset--it doesn’t get any better. Some days we never bothered to leave. After just relaxing and enjoying we then explored the island. The condo is centrally located to everything in Poipu and within walking distance to the great restaurants and shopping. We even walked to Spouting Horn and the National Botanical Gardens. There is soRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

It's not enough time - after nine days here we realize that it's not enough time to do justice to Kauai. We came over here to get married and had a beautiful ceremony at Polihale Beach. What really topped off the trip for us was your excellent condo with all the amenities and spectacular view. We spent many hours watching the sea turtles, snorkelers and fisherman from the lanai. We really appreciated all the conveniences you provided to us. It made us feel right at home with the benefit of being in Kauai. We look forward to renting your condo again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We have enjoyed these first days of our honeymoon greatly and have both fallen in love with Kauai. Great beaches, great food, great hiking, we could go on and on but being able to come back and relax at your condo sealed the deal! We love the decor, the fresh breeze when we leave the lanai door open, the turtles in the water, and just about everything else. We are sad to be leaving but when we come back to Kauai sometime in the future, we'll definitely put Kuhio Shores 206 at the top of our list. Thank you againDid you find this review helpful? About the owner: My wife and I own a general contracting business and she is a designer and artist.
Why the Owner Chose Kuhio Shores:
We have always loved the charm of Kauai - it is truly a magical place. When we began investigating owning a Hawaiian property we knew we wanted a place as close to the water as possible. After looking all over the island we found that Kuhio Shores was indeed unique in that you are practically 'in' the water. Walking into our unit many people have commented is like walking onto a boat because all you see is water.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We love watching the sun rise from bed, watching turtles swim right below our lanai, walking to the Beach House and swimming right out our door. We also pride ourselves in having everything in the condo for our guests that we want when we travel. Since we do travel quite a bit we know the joys of staying in a well stocked, CLEAN, well maintained property. It is such a disappointment and can certainly taint your entire trip if you choose the wrong property. Please be assured our condo is CLEAN and well maintained. Many of our guests have commented that it is better equipped than their own homes! We hope to make them feel like they are a guest in a luxurious home. We love hearing that their trip was perfect because they stayed in our condo.
