We had a terrific vacation and the ocean front view is outstanding! Every night we gathered on the lanai to watch the sunset and review the day. Great people to deal with, great location, wonderful condo - all in all an excellent experience and I would recommend this property, this unit and the owners, to anyone wanting a great vacation in Kaanapali. Thank you again.

All the information and pictures in the vrbo ad are true and accurate. Our party of 7 people stayed in the condo for 10 nights. The condo is clean and we had no issues. The resort itself is well maintained with friendly staff. The resort has an expedia local expert on hand to help you plan functions and set things up...they are very good at what they do and we enjoyed their services. We found the condo to be quiet with great views and sunsets. We slept with the lanai doors opened and the sounds of the seas will put you to sleep. As others have stated the chairs, putters, boogie boards etc etc are a nice touch and appreciated. We really enjoyed our time. We looked at some of the other units and this unit holds its own and is not dated like several others. The location is a key selling point and within walking distance to a main grocery store and abc store. The pool, spa, bbq area is awesome...finally a resort that has a working and properly heated spa. I would stay here again in a second if returning and needing a three bedroom place. The owner is customer service oriented and easy to deal with and does a great job. I like to dive and snorkel. If it is calm there is great snorkeling in front of the resort next door to the south about 200 yards offshore. There is a nice reef there as well. If interested in trying to dive for the first time scorpion scuba safari's will let you try it out in the pool next door (south) for free everyday at 10am I think. His name is Mike and he does a good job. We did a few dives with him. Again I highly recommend this condo and I think it offers a good value for your money.

We took our son, daughter~in~law & daughter to Maui for our 60th birthdays. We chose the Papakea property because it had 3 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms. The girls were thrilled to not have to share a bathroom! We loved the slide away doors onto the lanai. It really made the space seem bigger. We enjoyed having an ocean view. When we were in the condo, we were usually on the lanai enjoying the view. We didn't mind having to walk down to the beach; it made our space seem more private not having people using the beach directly in front of us. The pools & putting greens were a big hit. We appreciated having putters, balls, boogie boards, sand chairs & umbrellas in our unit. Very convenient. We had fabulous snorkeling at Honolua Bay, a few miles north of Papakea. We did the Flyin' Hawaiian Zipline & we all loved it! Great people! Birthday dinner at Mama's Fish House. Incredible!!! We enjoyed several local eateries within walking distance. Soup Nutz & Java Jive & the taco truck that appeared in the evenings were two favorites. A most excellent vacation! We would definitely return to Papakea. A quiet, relaxing place. The owner was wonderful to work with. He responded quickly to all inquiries, provided a most helpful guide book & was prompt with our deposit refund. Working with him was very easy. We look forward to our next visit to Papakea.

Papakea Condo not really on Kaanapali Beach

This condo is part of a large complex which is clean and well maintained. The condo itself is of good size, although not large, in good condition with a fully equipped kitchen, towels & bed linens and even some beach umbrellas and boogie boards. Although it is described as a 3 bdrm, 21/2 baths, it really has 3 baths, each with a shower. The lanai is large enough to accomodate a table & 4 chairs as well as lounge chairs. We were there in March (whale watching season) and had great views from our lanai of whales, turtles and beautiful sunsets. The activity desk at the complex was very helpful in scheduling activities and the Kaanapali beach and shops were only a short drive away(about 5 min). Lahaina was about a 15 min drive. On the downside, if you expect to be able to use the beach right in front of the condo or on either side, you will be disappointed. The beach is very, very rocky and has a coral shelf about 10 feet off shore so it's not good for swimming, snorkeling,or body surfing. The shore line comes right up to the seawall making walking along the beach very questionable. There is also a drainage ditch, adjacent to the condo, which runs out to the ocean. This was the 6th time we've rented a place in Maui and we know that Kaanapali Beach is one of the nicest beaches on the island. We were with our children and grandchildren this time and we really spent a lot of time at the beach. The kids enjoyed surfing, boogie boarding and body surfing or just jumping the waves and the little one liked playing in the sand. We could do all those things at the Kaanapali Beach, about 1-2 miles south of our condo but not at the beach where we were staying. You also can't just walk down the beach from this condo to get to a nicer area because of seawalls. So if you don't mind driving to the beach or the beach isn't important to you, this condo will be very enjoyable. If you do drive to Kaanapali Beach, there are five public(free) parking lots, not very well marked, one at Kahilli Beach Park, one just north of Whalers Village and two south of Whalers Village and a larger lot near the Hyatt.

Great Location and Condo

We went for a week and were thrilled with both the condo and the view. It's right on the beach and has a terrific view of the sunsets. We saw whales every day and, once, a school of dolphins. The pools and hot tubs have varying temperatures so you can get what you want, and the 12-hole putting course was a ton of fun. The condo includes putters and balls. The condo is very well-appointed and the kitchen was well set up. The Times supermarket is just a block or two away and had everything we could have wanted. What a great place! We wouldn't hesitate to go again or to recommend it to friends.

We had a wonderful stay at this condo. It was furnished very nicely and the view at this unit is tremendous. We continually watched whales and kite boarders throughout our stay. We would love the opportunity to stay at this unit again in the future!

We enjoyed our second stay in this condo last December, and we're scheduled to return again next winter. We love Papakea Resort for its oceanfront location, gorgeous grounds, incredible views, and low-key atmosphere. We've rented five different condos at Papakea over the years, and this unit is our favorite. It is very clean, well-maintained, and sufficiently stocked. We appreciate having beach towels, boogie boards and golf putters for usage at our leisure. We cook many of our meals at the condo, so we also like being able to count on an adequate supply of cooking dishes and utensils. This condo exceeded our expectations on many levels beyond our basic desires. The overall "feel" and orientation of the unit provided for a relaxing and picturesque setting. Every time we entered the condo, we were met with new floors, lovely decor, and an AWESOME view. The new sliding doors retract to create an expansive, open orientation just feet from the ocean. Much of our time was spent on the lanai, watching whales and admiring sail boarders and surfers. The islands of Lanai and Molokai make a beautiful backdrop! The dining table and lounge chair were frequently occupied by our family members to sunbathe, dine, and experience the amazing sunsets. At the end of each day, we were grateful for the individual air conditioners positioned in the main room and in all the bedrooms. What a luxury! The comfortable beds and wonderful showers made us feel pampered. Lastly, my communication with the owners has always been beyond satisfactory. We had no qualms about reserving a third stay because we had received quick and thorough responses from them in the past. On those occasions, we were appreciative to receive our deposit back promptly. We would recommend this property and condo to our closest friends. Again, we cannot wait to be there again!

Dreamy sea side home......

It was our first visit to the Hawaiian Islands and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Truly it was paradise and this particular home only enhanced our experience. It would have been perfectly acceptable for us to stay in the condo the entire time and just stare out over the ocean. We saw dolphins, whales and sea turtles while sipping our morning coffee on the lanai. That's how good it is! We can't give it enough praise.

We can't wait to return! A roomy, remodelled, ocean front condo in a marvelous location...minutes to innumerable activities, beautiful grounds, an ocean view that goes on forever, whale watching from the lanai, everything we needed was provided. The Torranos couldn't have been more helpful in making our vacation perfect.

We just returned from 11 nights in L403 at Papakea and I highly recommend this unit to others. The unit was very clean, comfortable and updated. Papakea exceeded my expectations, it was more beautiful than in the photos! Grounds are well kept, and we never had a difficult time getting a lounge chair or a bbq. We found it to be quiet, peaceful, and not crowded. Parking was always available and shops are within walking distance. We would love to go back to Papakea soon!

This unit is just as nice as it appears in the photographs. Everything about the condo is well- maintained and we were very satisfied. The oceanfront view from the lanai is absolutely stunning and we sat many times and watched the whales spouting and breaching through our binoculars. The Papakea grounds are nicely spread out with live fish ponds and lots of vegetation. There are tennis courts, two outdoor pools and two hot tubs where you can sit and watch the stars at night. We would definitely look into this unit again.

Aloha, We really enjoyed our vacation trip to Hawaii and especially our stay at Papakea. The condo was perfect and the view was awesome.It exeeded our expectations. We really enjoyed watching the whales. Our son's wedding on Maui was very nice and it was a great trip. We hope to return again and would definately like to stay in your home again.

This unit is FANTASTIC! It is truly "Oceanfront". Sit out on the lanai and watch the whales because the ocean is your view. Everything you need is included in the unit, from towels to toilet paper to a wine fridge! Save money on dining and cook your own meals in the luxurious kitchen. The entire property is well-maintained, gorgeous, and convenient. Both pools were beautiful and we were always able to get lounge chairs. The parking is free, very close to the building, and it was always easy to find a spot. Walk to the grocery store directly across the street. I highly recommend this unit and will gladly stay here again.

Beautiful, spacious condo. LOVED having 2 1/2 baths!!! Great communication with owners. Everything was provided: beach towels, laundry stuff, dishwasher detergent,toilet paper, paper towels, boogie boards, snorkels/masks. Ocean view was head-on from this unit.
