4 bedroom 3 bath 3000 sq. ft. handmade mountain home w/ breathtaking views of Santa Barbara and the Channel Islands from the top of San Marcos Pass in Los Padres National Forest. Beautiful, peaceful, a hikers' and bicyclists' dream, with plenty of room for private time to read, write, enjoy the wild birds and animals, the garden and the panorama of Santa Barbara the way it used to be. Two master bedrooms, with king-size beds, one upstairs, the other in the back of the house by the rose garden with its own entrance and deck. Third and fourth bedrooms with queen sized beds.
Experience non-tourist Santa Barbara 20 min. from downtown, UCSB and the Santa Ynez Valley wineries (a great bike tour). Watch amazing sunrises and sunsets from 3 decks 2500' above Santa Barbara and enjoy the sun when the city is shrouded in fog. Hike throughout the national forest, visit Painted Cave, fish and boat on Cachuma Lake, and dine close by at historic Cold Springs Tavern on Stage Coach Road.
Relax among 50 blooming rose bushes (in season).
Elliptical and exercycle machines. Dining room w/ burl table seating 10. 6'1" concert grand piano in living room. Library w/ hundreds of books, overflowing into bedroom bookcases. Study w/ computer DSL access, fax, scanner and printer.
San Marcos Pass has recently been declared one of the most scenic highways in the country and has been designated as a national scenic corridor protected from billboards and commercial development. The drive to and from town is spectacular. Additionally, West Camino Cielo is the route of several "cloud tours" from Santa Barbara, that bring visitors up out of the summer fog on their way to the Santa Ynez Valley Wine Country. The mountains are an amazing experience from another time. But if it gets too quiet, The Chumash Indian Casino is just over the hill.
A perfect place for family reunions and/or wedding guests.
