It's a quiet beach hideaway in a neighborhood south of 30-A.
We are one street to the east of Summer's Edge on an oyster shell road hidden in the palm trees, magnolias, scrub oaks, palmettos and pines....and we're waiting for you!
Our renovated home was new to the rental market for '08 and many guests told us they had been coming to the area for years and that our house was the best one they ever stayed in!! Guests enjoyed the large kitchen with two dishwashers. We also received many thanks for the front-loading washers and dryers found on both floors one and two. These high-end washer/dryers use High Effiency detergent only. The split plan which allows you to love 'em and leave 'em, family or friends, when you have had enough togetherness, was popular, as well. The den provides ample living space, but the gulf view beckons you outside on the huge covered veranda to daydream and relax. The third floor has a sunning deck with an incredible breathtaking view, which also provides a great sunset. Our guests said they felt that they were at a relative's home because the home was well equipped for their family with beach toys, baby beds, and everything their family needed. Our guests comments made our hard work well worth our effort and confirmed our homey home!
Floors two and three sleep a total of eight people. There are two kings, one queen bed and one queen sofa sleeper. You will also find a pack-n-play, a roll-away portable baby crib, a high-chair, an infant tub and a bounce walker. The house is equipped with a stereo and flat-panel TVs. There are 6 flat-panel televisions with cable in the house. Each floor has at least one DVD player.
The lower lanai/pool deck floor is accessed by way of a spiral staircase on the gulf side. The lower floor is also accessed by a straight stair on the north side. The lanai/pool floor has a den with comfy seating, three bedrooms, two full baths, (2 king-size beds and one room with 2 queen-sized beds). The kitchenette has a fridge with an ice maker, microwave, sink and a coffeemaker. There is a stainless gas grill on the lanai. The lanai/pool floor also has three flat-panel televisions with cable.
Both the upstairs and downstairs double doors open to the large private pool 15' x 30'.
Beside the house is a shady trail through the scrub oaks which leads to the beach. The house is a short bike ride away from Eastern Lake, a rare coastal dune lake, where fresh water mixes with gulf water. The lake is a fascinating place for children. Young ones can spend days watching tiny fish and baby crabs in calm ankle deep water next to the surf. Kayaking and fishing are also popular activities on Eastern Lake. Seaside is just up the road on the bike trail. This is a great retreat for families to gather, play and unwind.

We love Eastern Lake! It is a coastal dune lake that opens and closes to the Gulf of Mexico. It is a fun ride on bikes to the shallow mouth of the lake. You can watch tiny fish and see blue crabs. It is a wonderland, especially around 7p.m. sunset. It is other worldly, truly awe inspiring!
Goodies to eat and great cherry -limeades! Specialty grocery store with all the gourmet items you need.

We have been traveling to this area since 1989, when our daughter was 18 months old. She is now a senior in college. In high school my "partner" (as my dad called him) worked for his friend's dad who was a residential builder. We began building houses in Dallas, Texas for ourselves since we were in our late twenties. We loved vacationing at the beach in Pensacola. One day on our vacation we were snooping around the county in our car. My partner kept driving and driving east from Pensacola. I was getting upset because we were getting so far away from Pensacola. "Where are you taking me?" I exclaimed. He showed me this teeny tiny road on the map that ran parallel to the Gulf of Mexico. "There," he said, "I want to go there!" as he pointed to a little known road, NOW know as 30-A. Shall we say, "The rest is history?!¿" This is a perfect example of our lives together and how "opposites" attract. My childhood dream was to own a beach house. My partner found the location of the beach house which we were to own. We were pulled, like magnets, repeatedly to the 30A area for ten years before we found our family's beach house. We love the quiet secluded location by the forest.
