BEACHSONG

The best house at a great reduced low price. Compare our price with others that have this ocean view, Beachsong is the best deal on the Santa Teresa beach. There are not many homes where you can see the surfers from your bedroom or from anywhere in the house.

Tucked away on the exclusive north end of Playa Santa Teresa, within walking distance of the Flor Blanca and Milarepa resorts and restaurants, this home enjoys a pristine, beachfront location with no close neighbors to intrude upon your holiday. This one-of-a-kind beach house at the end of a long driveway is obscured from the main road by natural foliage and secured by a remote controlled gate. Located on the best white sand beach on the Nicoya Peninsula. Surfers can easily catch waves directly in front of the house, or you are a short paddle from “Suck Rock”. The stylish fully air-conditioned two bedroom, 2 ½ bathroom house is sophisticated enough to please the most discriminating guest with contemporary design elements and amenities. Yet, it retains the casual ambiance of a beach front Eden, where one can relax on one of two, spacious, roofed porches after an afternoon spent in the sunshine and waves with a cold beer in one hand, a book in the other and sand between your toes.

Beachsong comes fully furnished with a gourmet kitchen complete with a Viking range and dishwasher, satellite TV, DVD, iPod connectivity (Bose ipod dock), clothes washer and dryer and a safe to store valuables. Relax in each of the bedrooms’ king size beds while enjoying views to the beach, or luxuriate beneath the hot water in the glass walled showers. The house is fully enclosed, so it is free from bugs. For those who prefer ocean breezes to air conditioning, sliding glass door lead to the front porch to enable your desires.

While one can retreat into the fully air-conditioned house, it’s the natural elements of this property that are most alluring. White-face and howler monkeys greet one another as they transverse the canopy of native trees, hermit crabs trace intricate roadways in the sand as they forage for fallen coconuts, iguanas bask in the midday sun, and tropical birds who alight on nearby branches call out to one another. Beyond the edge of this organic front yard, the azure expanse of the Pacific Ocean beckons you. For those who prefer to leave their iPods at home, the soundtrack of waves that crest and break just yards from the front door may prove to be all the music you need.

The home is limited to four (4) guests total, including children, and we request that all guests be at least eight (8) years of age. The one story home is elevated to take advantage of the ocean views and breezes, making the open porches unsafe for small children. A security deposit of $300. is required, and will be refunded to you upon your departure.

Getting to Playa Santa Teresa is half the adventure, and a variety of transportation options are available to you. We are approximately 6 hours from San Jose by car, and the nearest airstrip is approximately 30 minutes away. If you are renting a car make sure you get a GPS, they take the guess work out of a complicated drive. We are located halfway between Flor Blanca Resort and Casas Pura Vida , log on to malpais web for more info and maps. If you need advice on where to stay, please call me at my toll free number (800-830-8508).

Just imagine how many waves have crashed onto the white sand beach since you have read this… We invite you to be one of the privileged few to indulge in this private paradise, Beachsong.

Do We need a Rent-a-Car? Yes, better a 4X4. Most of the local roads are gravel, with potholes, a 4x4 gives you a more comfortable ride, higher clearance and is safer. I don't think the rental companies will allow you to rent a small car if they know you are going to Santa Teresa.

How Do We Get There?

Fastest: Fly from SanJose on Sansa or Nature Air to Tambor, arrange your rent-a-car to meet you at the airstrip. Drive one hour west through Cobano to MalPais/Santa Teresa.

Easiest: Montezuma Expeditions operates a door to door van shuttle service, $40./person. They pick you up in the SanJose area and deliver you to the house. They also own a small hotel near the SanJose airport called Los Volcanes, to make the transfer even easier. A rent- a-car should be pre-arranged for delivery to the house.

Cheapest: Rent your car in SanJose and drive yourself to the beach. Allow 2.5 hours for the drive from San Jose to Puntarenus, aim to catch the big Tambor2 ferry a one hour sailing time, then a 1.5 hour drive from the dock in Paquera to the beach. 6 hours, depending on the wait time for the ferry.

Why the Owner Chose Santa Teresa

I grew up in this area and after moving away I greatly missed it. I would escape to Santa Teresa whenever I got the chance. I love the quiet beaches and the monkeys and the surrounding cattle country. It is definately more developed now, I can't ride my horse naked on the beach anymore, but it's still pretty laid back.

The Unique Benefits at this Private Beachfront Bungalow

Beachsong is located at the north end of Santa Teresa Beach away from the hustle of the village at the south end. We are near the Flor Blanca Resort and a new super market. Actually Beachsong is centrally located with Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo to the north and Playa Carmen and MalPais to the south. It is approximately seven miles from Mal Pais to Manzanillo, nothing is very far away. When I want a respite from the waves, there is an olympic size tide pool very near the house that I snorkel and just float in. Other times I just go take a hike and do some birding.

Hi, I have lived in Costa Rica for 30 plus years. Beachsong is my third home I have built. In Costa rica they say it takes three to get it right. This time I've gotten it perfect.

    • Our Little Secret What can we say other than what's been previously mentioned?.. our first time to this area of the country, Beautiful, the drive from Liberia an adventure in itself! I did find it to be a vacation of choice and choices. Exploring a number of well recommended local restaraunts or choosing to cook for yourselves in an extremely clean, well-equipped kitchen...Baking in the sun on your own beach or escaping the heat to a cool modern beach house. Peaceful snorkling in the tidal pool, deep sea fishing, boogie boarding or sufing out the front door, horseback riding, all local. Busy as you want to be. We didn't have time to check out any ecotourism have done it before and just as happy with what the property provided, monkeys, iguanas, beautiful birds, and lucky for me, no snakes. The house had everything we were looking for safe, classy, sure to please. I found A/C essential at this time of year. Make sure you read the helpful "where to" guide and nice to have the very helpful caretakers. Worth the trip, next time we'll stay longer! Excellent tips on the local scene, found at the house. Lots of great eating out options. Local folks very friendly. Beach and surf were marvelous. Owner very easy to work with & Caretakers helpful & inobtrusive. We will be back.

    • Stayed for a surfing getaway in the spring. Loved it, whole house is air conditioned and comfortable. Loved that you could hear the waves at night and wake with a view of them in the morning. Very private, felt like a home away from home. Best of all you could just grab the surfboards off the porch and walk to the waves in front of the house. Highly recommended!!

    • We stayed for almost three weeks early in 2007. It was terrific, probably the best holiday I have ever had. We snorkled, swam, walked the beach and relaxed under the trees. Did a couple of day fishing trips from Mal Pais, quite a blast. The sunsets were unbelievable - every day!! I will definitely be back.

    • I have visited this house several times at it remains far and above all other spots we have stayed in over the years in Santa Teresa. It is a stones throw from the best beach I've ever known; it isn't in the middle of the village but is close enough to for services and fun; the building and grounds are beautiful, natural, private and very relaxing. We always hate to leave and start thinking about our return on the trip home. Can't say enough about the place but I should add the owners and helpers are as friendly a group as you'll ever want to meet...t.o.d.

    • I stayed at Beachsong 2 years ago and loved it. Everyone talks about beautiful ocean breezes, what they don't say is that the breeze is 100 degrees. The whole house is fully air-conditioned so you can recharge in the cool, not just AC in the bedrooms like some places we visited. There is a coconut grove on the property next to the house and on the other side the closest house is about 1000 feet away, and the road is 600 feet away, so it really is private. My favorite was just walking to the bench on the beach in my PJ's with my coffee in the morning.
