Amazing location and breathtaking views! Nestled in the coastal foothills just off California Scenic Hwy 46 West - exactly halfway between the quaint artist village of Cambria (10 min.) and gateway to the spectacular Paso Robles/Templeton wine region (just outside your door).

Newly remodeled cottage from the ground up. Enjoy top of the line furnishings, amenities and touches that one would expect from a nationally renowned artist. The large master bedroom is a Southeast Asian retreat with unique pieces from Nepal and Thailand. The queen bedroom takes you back to early California. The kitchen is fully stocked and has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Relax with a cool beverage on the patio overlooking the vast farming valley below or tuck yourselves back in the shade of the oaks and bay trees off the rear patio. 100% privacy enables you to enjoy the additional outdoor shower, use the massage table, read or watch the red tail hawks soar peacefully above. BBQ in your own "park" complete with picnic table and shade trees.

Perched atop the Stromsoe Vineyard, a producing 5 acre vineyard of Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio, you'll enjoy a country retreat setting. It's only 2 minutes to the first wine tasting opportunity on the "west side" in the York Mountain AVA. Our location is generally 15 degrees cooler than downtown Paso in the summer. You can visit dozens and dozens of fine wineries within a 10 mile radius. Be sure to take a sunset stroll on one of our uncrowded, pristine beaches less than 15 minutes from your door!

Close proximity to downtown Paso, its wonderful restaurants and wine events - this location has it all! Please note: for the comfort of the majority of our guests this is a NON-SMOKING property.

Why the Owner Chose Paso Robles

Two years ago we decided to remodel an existing cottage perched on the hill above our vineyard. The views are spectacular. We began offering the vineyard cottage as a nightly vacation rental in April of 2008. We've had many return guests ... everyone loves it! When we don't have rental guests, my husband and I like to lay on the grass and look up at the millions of stars.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

After a day of wine tasting and the warm ... sometimes TOO warm weather of Paso Robles, guests love to return to the cottage which is only minutes from the tasting rooms yet up to 15 degrees cooler. We enjoy the coastal influence on many hot summer days. We love to pack a sweatshirt and head to San Simeon Cove or Cayucos for a beach walk at low tide ... no crowds. The counties BEST restaurants are 15 minutes in any direction from the cottage! Paso Robles, Templeton, Cambria and Cayucos.

A
Stephen's Cellars

B
East/West Ranch

Fantastic bluff trail across the ranch - open to the public. Access either at the end of Windsor Blvd. trail head or from Lodge Hill at Marine Terrace. Easy walk. Beautiful.

C
Trail out to "the point"

Follow the trail from San Simeon Cove/Hearst State beach, up the bluff in front of the Spanish Style Adobe houses and out to the point.

D
STUDIOS ON THE PARK

Large open art studios with 14 artists in working in various media. Thursday - Sunday. Opens at noon. We are exhibiting in studio #1 most Friday and Saturday evenings. Eat at one of the fantastic r

Owner's Map of Paso Robles

We moved from Los Angeles to the charming village of Cambria in 1979. We raised our daughter and son in Cambria until we found this slice of paradise on 25 acres just 13 minutes inland from the coast. We've enjoyed a large organic garden every year and we are currently looking forward to our 5th harvest of Pinor Noir and Pinot Grigio wine grapes from our 5 acre vineyard.
We are artists by trade and find this location to be peaceful and inspiring.

    • By far the best VRBO experience we have ever had! The cottage was just as advertised: well equipped, clean and beautiful. We did Tour #2, at Lisa's guidance, and sandwiches at Sebastian's were legit! Best part was grilling on the front patio as the sun was going down. Beautiful. We will for sure be coming back to the cottage next time we hit up Paso Robles.

    • We had a wonderful stay here for the weekend and are already planning to return for a longer stay. The cottage was beautiful and very comfortable. We have stayed in a number of vacation rentals and this was the best! The location was perfect, very private (with a great view)and close to wineries and the coast. We would highly recommend the Artist's Vineyard Cottage Retreat!

    • We've stayed in many vacation rentals, but this was the best ever. We enjoyed it so much we rearranged our trip and stayed an extra day! The cottage is well-equipped, clean, quiet, serene. It's on top of a picturesque hill, nestled under old oaks. The wineries offer fabulous Rhone-style blends. Hiking in the area and on the coast is breathtaking. There's terrific seafood at Pier 46 and great produce at Nature's Way and local farmer's markets. Sunsets on the beach at Montana del Oro--unbeatable. We cooked at the cottage, sipped local wine, and loved it, though we're told there are excellent restaurants nearby. Lisa & Randy are extremely professional, too. We're planning our return visit!

    • What a find! A beautiful, clean cottage with awesome views and a great location. Wineries and the coast are easily accessible, if you can drag yourself away from the charming setting of the cottage. Big enough for two couples, but also great for just two people. We can't wait to visit again, and enthusiastically recommend this cottage.

    • Very secluded, private guest cottage with a spectacular valley view high above it all. Website picutres do not do the site justice. Almost feels like a campsite, but with a darling, roomy, CLEAN and contemporary house with every amenity. Patios on three sides of the house provide comfortable cushioned chairs and lounges exposed to the sun. We minimized our winetasting because we found it difficult to leave the cottage! Owners very friendly and helpful yet professional. Can't wait to return.

    • We had such a peaceful time at your getaway in the hills. It couldn't have been more private and the views were gorgeous from every window. We particularly appreciated the high quality decor and furnishings, and the interesting reading material was a welcome bonus. Of course, we enjoyed the great wineries right on your doorstep, but there's so much more to explore - we hope to be able to return many times in the future. What a find!
