Amazing location and breathtaking views! Nestled in the coastal foothills just off California Scenic Hwy 46 West - exactly halfway between the quaint artist village of Cambria (10 min.) and gateway to the spectacular Paso Robles/Templeton wine region (just outside your door).

Newly remodeled cottage from the ground up. Enjoy top of the line furnishings, amenities and touches that one would expect from a nationally renowned artist. The large master bedroom is a Southeast Asian retreat with unique pieces from Nepal and Thailand. The queen bedroom takes you back to early California. The kitchen is fully stocked and has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Relax with a cool beverage on the patio overlooking the vast farming valley below or tuck yourselves back in the shade of the oaks and bay trees off the rear patio. 100% privacy enables you to enjoy the additional outdoor shower, use the massage table, read or watch the red tail hawks soar peacefully above. BBQ in your own "park" complete with picnic table and shade trees.

Perched atop the Stromsoe Vineyard, a producing 5 acre vineyard of Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio, you'll enjoy a country retreat setting. It's only 2 minutes to the first wine tasting opportunity on the "west side" in the York Mountain AVA. Our location is generally 15 degrees cooler than downtown Paso in the summer. You can visit dozens and dozens of fine wineries within a 10 mile radius. Be sure to take a sunset stroll on one of our uncrowded, pristine beaches less than 15 minutes from your door!

Close proximity to downtown Paso, its wonderful restaurants and wine events - this location has it all! Please note: for the comfort of the majority of our guests this is a NON-SMOKING property.

In keeping with the title of this review, my husband and I found that the Artist's Vineyard Cottage Retreat was an outstanding experience. As we live in Montana, we like to escape the winter and we found ourselves complelely at home on the Central Coast of California and renting the cottage for a three month period both in Dec. 2011 and Dec. 2012 was an experience we will never forget. The Cottage is a warm and welcoming place to call home and we would suggest it is a MUST for anyone who would like to experience the Central Coast of California. The luxury of staying at the cottage was a gift. It is located in a wonderful setting and is very private and quiet.. I don't believe we would have been so taken by the area if it weren't for our time spent at the cottage. The owner's are dream come true landlords and they also became good friends. This property is a rare find and we look forward to returning in the future.

The cottage is amazing and is much much more than what is listed. It is located on the hill with the total privacy, very comfortable and peaceful. You really got away from all and just relax. The view is spectacular! During our stay we've seen the morning and everning fog, a little bit of rain and beautiful sunshine. We wish we could stay longer. The owners were very kind and helpful when we need, but otherwise they just let us enjoy our stay. Lisa and Randy- thank you very much for sharing this beautiful place with us. We will be back.

This so called cottage was a recommendation from a friend. from the very moment I spoke with Lisa about the propoerty I could tell she cared about the cottage and the guests that would stay there. She was honest, sincere, informative and genuine. We arrived and were in awe of the understated beauty of the surroundings and the setting of the cottage. It was immediately enchanting and captured our souls. We stayed 4 days which allowed for full immersion in the surroundings. From drives to beach walks to hikes to wine and all those absolutely perfect dinner recommendations, it was a special time for me and my wife. Very nice, quiet, remote or close to everything...it is your choice. Thanks for the memories and hope to come back once again!!

We just stayed at Vineyard cottage for a week at the beginning of September. We had stayed here once before in April and loved the peacefulness of the location so much we couldn't wait to go back. We got the chance to meet the owners on this visit and they are great hosts. They are available if you need something but otherwise they TOTALLY give you privacy. We had all kinds of weather the week we were just there - from gorgeous 80 degree temperatures in the day to a welcome cooldown at night in the 50's. We also had a mini-heatwave while staying there - the surrounding areas reached 100 but even though it got warm at the cottage it again cooled off at night. The cottage itself is extremely clean and the furnishings are a lovely mix of Asian influences - very simple lines yet everything was comfortable - ESPECIALLY the master bed - I don't know what brand it is but it is HEAVEN to sleep on! The cottage is set all by itself on top of the vineyard overlooking the owners house but you are well above the road and have TOTAL privacy. The warmest night we were there we sat out on the porch for FOUR HOURS drinking local wine and watching the moon come up - SO relaxing. We would DEFINITELY recommend it - especially for a couple looking for a romantic getaway...............its a very unique and special place.......in the country yet only about 15 minutes from Paso Robles and all kinds of great restaurants and wineries - You are also only 15 minutes from the beaches in Cambria so you have the best of both worlds..............Just a lovely peaceful place close to "plenty to do" if thats what you are looking for.........or, you can just stay HOME like we did and revel in the quietness of the country side -

All of our expectations were exceeded. Lisa and Randy responsive whenever we needed them. The view from the front of the cottage was fabulous - we grilled dinner and drank local wine looking out over the hills. The cottage was beautifully and completely furnished and spotless. The location in Templeton was close to downtown Paso Robles, 25 minutes from San Luis Obispo and a shorter ride to the coast. We would, and are, recommending the cottage to our oenophile friends.

Our third trip up to this beautiful cottage and everytime it seems better than the last. Always private and serene. The property is kept in pristine condition and looks just like the first time that we stayed there back in 2008. The pictures shown, although beautiful, do not do this place justice. Due to the perfect weather we included a 19 mile bike ride around the area during our stay. Loved waking up to the gorgeous views right outside the cottage. No moon when we arrived which made the night sky incredibly full of stars!! Amazing sight! Perfect place for a long stay or even a short weekend getaway. Very romantic! Great wineries minutes away. Won't even consider staying somewhere else when we head up to Paso. Looking forward to our next trip there! Thank you Lisa and Randy!!

This was our second visit to the cottage. We always wish we could stay longer as it is perfect for rest, relaxation, and a great time. Even though the weather got pretty bad as far as rain, we loved our visit. The cottage is immaculate and the attention to detail is exactly what I am always looking for as a home away from home! It is a gorgeous setting but also sits in a perfect location for wine tasting and visiting the coast. We thoroughly enjoyed the various surrounding restaurants as well as picking food up at local places we have come to love just to take back to the cottage and kick back and enjoy. Although the weather is typically perfect at this location, when it isn't, it still is a great place to be. And Lisa and Randy are wonderful. They are great to help out with anything you might need and are very much 'in the know' about the area. We so look forward to a return visit!

From the moment we arrived we were blown away. We visited the cottage with another couple and wished we had another day in the area just to "hang out". The cottage is so well appointed and the owners have gone out of their way to be sure you have an incredible experience while staying there. The weather was cold while we were there, so we did not get to enjoy the outdoor seating like we would have liked. The view from the cottage overlooks the vineyard and at night the stars are incredible. We all would return in a heartbeat. You really get away from it all and just relax. We were visiting California during all the bad weather they had in December. The owners were kind enough to let us know of possible bad weather and offered to help us in any way possible were we not able to make it to the Paso Robles area. They also provide an excellent information book that gives you great suggestions for dining and area attractions. We would definitely return if we were to ever visit the area again.

My fiance and I had the most amazing weekend. We stayed for two night with our best friends and wished we could have stayed longer. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away. The cottage is so much more than what is listed. It's set away from everything, up on a little hill with a beautiful view. The owners went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and make everything really easy. Everything is new and very clean. You will want to just stay at the cottage your whole stay (we did). Even though there is a ton to do in Paso Robles, you will feel at heaven at the cottage and won't want to leave. We will be back!

My husband and I stayed at the cottage with another couple for the weekend. We had an amazing time! The cottage and the property were absolutely beautiful and far exceeded out expectations. We played bocce ball and bean bag toss in the yard while enjoying the amazing view and cool breeze. We also made a day trip to Hearst Castle and enjoyed several local wineries. My favorites were Niner and Justin. It was the perfect end of the summer vacation for all 4 of us. We all hope to visit the cottage in Paso in the near future. I would highly recommend the cottage to friends and family for a weekend getaway.

We've enjoyed a large organic garden every year and we are currently looking forward to our 5th harvest of Pinor Noir and Pinot Grigio wine grapes from our 5 acre vineyard. We are artists by trade and find this location to be peaceful and inspiring.

Why the Owner Chose Paso Robles:
Two years ago we decided to remodel an existing cottage perched on the hill above our vineyard. The views are spectacular. We began offering the vineyard cottage as a nightly vacation rental in April of 2008. We've had many return guests ... everyone loves it! When we don't have rental guests, my husband and I like to lay on the grass and look up at the millions of stars.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
After a day of wine tasting and the warm ... sometimes TOO warm weather of Paso Robles, guests love to return to the cottage which is only minutes from the tasting rooms yet up to 15 degrees cooler. We enjoy the coastal influence on many hot summer days. We love to pack a sweatshirt and head to San Simeon Cove or Cayucos for a beach walk at low tide ... no crowds. The counties BEST restaurants are 15 minutes in any direction from the cottage! Paso Robles, Templeton, Cambria and Cayucos.
