Mayaguana House offers you peace and tranquility amidst tropical gardens and turquoise waters. We are located in Old Hooper's Bay, a 38-acre private community about five miles from George Town. Situated on two acres well off the Queen's Highway, the main house sits by the sea overlooking our landscaped gardens, Hooper's Bay, and the Atlantic beyond.

Granddaughter's Beach, our small private beach on the property, is perfect for quick dips on the ocean, snorkeling our beautiful reefs, lazy beach lounging, or creating magical sand castles. The Old Hooper's Bay common beach is just a short distance beyond Granddaughter's Beach. Native stone walkways wind throughout our gardens leading to several small patios where you can enjoy quiet morning meditation or evening sunsets.

The property was completely renovated in 2002. Features include cathedral ceilings, gourmet kitchen with beautiful sea views, and a 22-foot expanse of glass in the open-concept living and dining area looking out to the sea and Simon's Point in the distance. A large, seaside terrace partially shaded by a traditional Bahamian hip roof provides the perfect spot for watching boats sail by enroute to Elizabeth Harbour.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed, sea view and large ensuite bath with walk-in shower and double lavs detailed with imported Mexican tile. Our second bedroom is located in the adjacent guest house and features a king-size bed and a bunk bed with a queen and upper twin in a spacious room, with private bath.

You and your guests will awaken to the chirping of banana birds and fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves. For larger groups, we now have available a second cottage , The Tree House, which has one bedroom with queen bed. Not surprisingly, life on Exuma centers around the beautiful turquoise seas. Whether it is exciting water sports or quiet moments just listening to the cresting waves, Exuma will fulfill your desires. Renown for world-class bone fishing, the island has many local fishing guides. In addition, you can enjoy deep-sea fishing, boating, picnics, and reef snorkeling along the many small cays surrounding Elizabeth Harbour. Car and outboard rentals are available.

Our list of restaurants continues to grow, with fresh-cracked conch and Bahamian spiny lobsters at the top of the menu. Enjoy Exuma nightlife which includes the local Rake and Scrape Band at the Fish Shacks, then return home to Mayaguana House to count the endless array of stars dotting the black velvet sky overhead.
