"Saltaire", a beautifully restored 4 bedroom brick home built in 1913, is located in the heart of the Historic District of Cape Charles.
The entire town of Cape Charles is listed on the National Register of Historic places making it a unique beach getaway. This is a town where sidewalks run everywhere – as do children. Where the beach is within walking distance of every house - as are the playground, drugstore, restaurants and shops. It is a vibrant turn of the century beach town that still retains the quaintness and safety of days gone by.
Enjoy our undiscovered beaches, play on Jack Nicholas and Arnold Palmer signature golf courses, take a fishing trip or boating excursion and experience some of the best fishing on the East Coast. Take a self guided walking tour of historic homes, enjoy our restaurants, and go antiquing. And at the end of the day, make sure to take a walk on the boardwalk as the sun sets over the Bay; what better way to end a relaxing day at Cape Charles!
Walk or bicycle just a few blocks to enjoy restaurants, gift shops and even miniature golf in downtown Cape Charles. A few blocks in the other direction leads you to the Bay Creek Marina with gourmet restaurants (don’t miss Aqua for an elegant meal), boutiques, shops and over 200 boat slips. Enjoy walking or biking out to the town pier. Scooters and golf carts are available for rent in town, and since they’re street-legal in Cape Charles, they’re a handy way to quickly reach the beach, Rayfield’s drug store for a quick, homemade milkshake, or even Kelly’s Pub for a quick bite to eat.
Take an excursion on the daily sailing of the schooner "Serenity", or adventure your way up the peninsula to explore antique shops, historic homes and plantations. Looking for a longer day trip? Try Chincoteague, home of the famed wild ponies. It’s just 90 minutes north of Cape Charles. Or try Tangier Island, reached only by boat or ferry, or the NASA visitor’s center on Wallop’s Island. Closer to home, try visiting a local winery, or birding at Kiptopeke State Park.
Cape Charles truly offers a vacation opportunity for just about everyone. |
