The cabin was a wonderful weekend escape. The interior was just as pictured. It felt like home, only cleaner. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The décor was cozy and tasteful. The view from the balcony was serene- I think even better for us because without leaves on the trees, we could see the mountains clearly. The owner was pleasant to work with and was responsive both before and during the visit. We initially thought there was a problem with the hot water and she had someone at the cabin within hours. Problem resolved with no hassle and it didn’t impact our vacation schedule. Prior to our stay, the owner gave us plenty of helpful tips about local attractions, restaurants, etc. The recommendations were spot on and could have kept us busy for days but we wanted time to rest. The dart board needs to be updated but our kids enjoyed the game table. Our only challenge was we didn't realize it would take a few hours for the hot tub to heat up so we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked. The visit was just too short. Would definitely stay at Climbing Bear again (except during snowfall/ice because of the steep road to the cabin).

What a wonderful, tastefully decorated cabin! My husband and I got away for our 10 yr anniversary and couldn't ask for anything for anything more relaxing. The cabin was extremely clean, beds were very comfortable, and the view from the hot tub was spectacular... we loved watching the sunset over the mountains and drinking our coffee from the porch in the morning. We will definitely return with our children!

We just returned from this wonderful mountain home! We went with 6 adults and 2 children(ages 13 and 10). Marsha was very kind and easy to work with. She was always prompt in her responses, patient with my questions because of my mom's limited mobility, and helpful with directions and information. Susie, the cabin manager, was also kind and helpful, even assisting my dad with flowers for all of the girls since it was Valentines Day! The guys were able to go fishing, sight-seeing, and hiking, and the girls made time for some shopping. All of us enjoyed the spa and game room, and we built a fire in the outdoor firepit to roast marshmallows one night! It even snowed one day...enough to get some beautiful pictures, but not enough to cause driving issues. It is the perfect home for a family vacation, girls weekend, or couples retreat!

We were looking for an end of the year escape and we found it at Climbing Bear! Secluded yet well appointed with all the amenities for a relaxing Christmas get away. We loved the cold evenings in the hot tub while overlooking valley in the moonlight. We also loved the Christmas decorations, especially the Santa Bears. The cabin is close to great outdoor and indoor activities as we hiked the Appalachian Trail and Tallulah Gorge, and then went wine tasting and dined at the Dillard House. I cannot wait for another opportunity to escape and will definitely try to rent Climbing Bear again.

Nice, clean, newer cabin with all the amenities. Floor to ceiling stone fireplace was greatly appreciated and cozy for the cool fall evenings. Two master suites was very nice as well. Color change of the leaves was so pretty with the cabin nestled in the mountain. Never visited the area before and there is so much to do in and around Hiawassee. Great choice of restaurants in Hiawassee, Michalee's being one of our favorites for delicious food and the Brasstown Valley Resort was a fun evening out. Hiawassee has a movie/theater complex as well, which we didn't go to, but it was there. We loved Crane Creek Winery in Young Harris, GA and Wolf Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega, GA. Both locations are beautiful, with Wolf Mountain being the prettiest we've been to. Fantastic Sunday lunch buffet there as well, overlooking the rolling vineyards and mountains from the outdoor terrace dining (or you can eat inside). All the lake fingers in Hiawassee (Lake Chatuge) are so beautiful. We drove around the entire lake. Water sports and boating are big in that area. We visited the following during our stay: Tallulah Gorge State Park (hiked around a bit) - deepest gorge east of the Mississippi river with white waters for very experienced kayakers; the alpine town named Helen, the town of Dillard (ate at the Dillard House); drove up to Highlands, NC (great for upscale one street shopping on both sides of street, like Winter Park, FL). Also Dry Falls was a beautiful waterfall close to the town of Highlands. Easy walk/stairs to the falls where you can walk under the large water fall and still stay dry. Visited the lovely town of Dahlonega (major gold mining was done around1812 and it is a small college town as well). Visit the gold museum in the town square. While near Dahlonega, we went to Frogtown Vineyards, Three Sister Vineyards, but still our favorite was Wolf Mountain Vineyards from an overall beauty standpoint. Ate at the Smith House while in Dahlonega. Our vacation was awesome. Thanks for sharing your wonderful Georgia mountain cabin with us and giving us a chance to explore the area.

Our family stayed at Climbing Bear for an annual fall trip and had a wonderful time! The cabin was comfy and spacious and we enjoyed the gas log fireplace on the first cool evenings of the fall. The view from the porch was beautiful as the leaves were changing and deer roamed below. The hot tub was great in the evenings! The cabin is well stocked and very relaxing. It is a short ride to town if you feel the need to shop or eat out. Look forward to visiting again soon!

Upon arrival, we found that all was in order for our visit and celebration. Seven friends helped with our celebration and commented that the cabin was what we had hoped for when making a selection. We actually celebrated with the Christmas tree lights during our visit. We will certainly consider staying again and will refer the property to our friends. PS: excellent directions and suggestions from the owner.

Our stay was very nice, beautiful cabin. The hot tub needs to be serviced. it was green most of weekend even after shocking it. Only one of the jets worked. The cabin itself was very comfy and welcoming but it looked like it hadn't been used for a while, very dusty. All in all we had a very relaxing weekend, even without the hot tub.

Owner response: We were very sorry to hear that our guests were unable to use the spa and that they found the cabin dusty. Those are not typical conditions and they have been taken care of. We regret that we were not contacted when they were in the cabin so we could remedy the problem immediately, but are pleased that they enjoyed the rest of their time there.

We had a wonderful stay at Climbing Bear cabin. This is our first occasion to stay at this cabin though we have stayed at Marsha's cabin (Bearfoot) across the road several times. We always look forward to arriving and hate to leave. This time was no exception. We love the location 'away from it all' and yet close enough to Hiawassee for shopping, meals or just a quick trip to Ingles. The cabin was clean, very pretty and we felt at home immediately. It is beautifully furnished with two king-sized master suites and a lovely cozy suite on the upper level. It is perfect for providing togetherness and allowing privacy for multiple guests. The pictures of local scenery throughout the cabin gave it a nice 'homey' touch. Everything was clean and well organized. It was easy to become accustomed to 'living there' if only for a few days. We particularly enjoyed the quiet mornings on the deck with our coffee and coke.
