Village of La Jolla cottage description
The Village of La Jolla is the downtown shopping district of La Jolla ('The Jewel') on the Pacific Ocean. It began as an artist colony that has thrived since the 1920's and is the most exclusive beach community in San Diego. Long renowned as 'the American Riviera,' La Jolla is unique in its European feel and resort town atmosphere. Park your car for the week to enjoy shopping, art galleries, world-class restaurants, night life, snorkeling and diving in the underwater sanctuary, ocean cave kayaking, the Cove, beaches, parks, hiking trails, and seals and other marine life in the Mediterranean climate.
Our home is located inside the Village on a quiet residential street, and close to everything downtown La Jolla has to offer. Great for families and children, yet accessible to all major amenities just a few blocks away--village living at its best! Just a short stroll to The Cove, Shell Beach or the Children’s Pool beach, with Wind 'n Sea Beach or La Jolla Shores being a walk. Come experience why La Jolla has the highest priced residences on average in the nation.
This bright and cozy home is perched above the street to offers panoramic ocean views from the front porch, master bedroom, and windows on front side of the house. Very private location. Distributed among the four bedrooms are a King Bed, a Queen Bed and Two Full-over-Full Bunks, Each With a Pull-out Twin Trundle. Ideal for two families. Fully appointed kitchen, outdoor natural gas grill, indoor & outdoor wood-burning fireplaces, wireless Internet, washer/dryer, DVD players, and 46' and 37' Hi-Def LCD TVs with DirecTV HD package. Keep the kids occupied with both XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii U gaming systems and kid-friendly collection of video games, DVD movies, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Freshly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.
Even though you could spend a whole vacation walking to the beaches, shops and restaurants of downtown La Jolla, hop in your car for a short drive to La Jolla Shores, Torrey Pines Golf Course, or Birch Aquarium (5 min.); Sea World or Old Town (10 min.); Airport, Downtown, Baseball Park, Harbor and Bay (15 min.); San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and Museums (15 min.); Del Mar Racetrack (15 min.); LegoLand or Carlsbad Flower Fields (25 min.); Wild Animal Park (30 Min.); Mexico (45 min.); Disneyland (90 min.); and, of course miles and miles of white sand beaches (Wind ‘n Sea, La Jolla Shores, Torrey Pines State Beach, Del Mar, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Blacks Beach, etc.). The near-by University of California at San Diego (UCSD) offers day passes to the new RIMAC Sports Center and Canyonview Olympic pool complex, and hosts the world-famous La Jolla Playhouse and Birch Aquarium.
The town of La Jolla occupies about 20 square miles near the coast, with only a small fraction being a few blocks to the ocean and downtown shopping district. Our property is within the Village of La Jolla (simply, the 'Village' to locals), not to be confused with the similarly named La Jolla Village neighborhood, which is in-land next to the freeway. Don't get stranded away from the action when you are expecting a seaside vacation!

Amazing house...awesome location
Amazing house...awesome location
My family and I stayed here for our last trip of the summer. The weather as usual in San Diego was perfect. We opened the doors and windows and had a awesome breeze throughout the whole house. There was plenty of room for everyone. We never had more than a 10 minute drive to any beach we wanted to go to. Downtown was 15 minutes away. We walked almost every day down to the Village of La Jolla and played in the surf on the little beach off the cove. The shop we fun to browse through and the selection of restaurants was great. There is a crepe place that I highly recommend for dessert. Staying in this house made everything close by but just far enough away that you could relax. We would certainly stay here again.

Great Fall Vacation
Great Fall Vacation
We spent our Christmas break here. The weather was perfect. There was plenty of room for the kids and nanny. Our evenings were filled with sunsets and memories. Our kids loved playing on the Wii and XBox, watching movies, doing puzzles, and building Lego. The shortcut to the Village shops across the street encouraged us to walk everywhere--to the grocery store, dinner, the beaches. We saw seals with their pups and other wild life. The modern art museum down the street was great.

Perfect location looking out to the Pacific without all the cost & hassle of being beachfront. The home is slightly above the Village for North to South coastal views with a short-cut to get to the downtown area on foot. Drove to Disneyland with my two year old, but should have just stayed at the beach where she had more fun.

Loved our stay. The house was right at the edge of the shopping district of La Jolla. It was clean and well maintained. The panaramic ocean view was incredible. Walked to the beach every day! Would definately stay again.

This is a fantastic beach cottage! Beautiful views of the Ocean, and a fantastic Village location. Easy access to everything! Great for a big family, as there is lots of sleeping space. The kitchen had everything you could want. It was nice to have free WiFi, as we used it to get directions several times. I would highly recommend this condo and hope to be able to come back to it. And last but not least...the owner is great to work with.

About the owner: As a child, my family traveled to the Village of La Jolla every year for a couple of weeks to escape the Arizona heat in this magical place. After living in San Diego for many years and meeting my native-San Diegan husband, we have moved away from the coast, but spend the better part of the summer at this cottage with our kids. When away, we welcome your family to enjoy this small coastal village in San Diego as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Village of La Jolla:
Our cottage is perched above the downtown area on Soledad Mountain for better than 180 degree ocean views while still being a couple blocks from the ocean and shops. La Jolla is a unique beach community with upscale amenities not found in other areas near the ocean.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Access to the Village is a snap with a public walkway between the two houses across the street. In just three short blocks, you are in the heart of world-class shops, high-end restaurants, luxury car dealers, and glamour. Walk to to the Ferrari, Maserati, and Bentley dealerships just blocks away or just watch them driving around the neighborhood.
