We stayed in this nice home for 3 nights and had a great time, this part of the big island is truly beautiful. The small black sand beaches by the coast are a few minutes away and we hardly ever saw anyone there. Very good snorkeling too. The owners were extremely accommodating with us and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to discover the West coast of the big island.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house is great and was very much appreciated by my family and me for our trip to celebrate my mother-in-law's 60th. Less than the cost of a hotel or other places up in Kailua-Kona we got a great deal for our week on the Big Island. The homeowners have plenty of room for people to sleep, eat, relax, and have fun. The lanai out front allows you to watch the sunset every day (you are clearly facing west) and to watch the rolling waves come in in the morning while sipping your coffee. The gas grill was great to have out there, too. Grilled pork chops, fish skewers, and steaks in our time there. The layout and beds really allow for multiple people to be comfortable. There are 4 twin beds so non-couples and siblings can have their own bed and not sleep on the floor. Two large beds help 8 (we were 7) stay there comfortably. I never felt like we were crowded. It is about 30 minutes to Kailua-Kona and there is a good amount of driving to get around the island, but that would be true if you were staying anywhere on the island. It's not like Oahu with its H-Freeways. We drove down to the Volcano National Park and that was a great day trip. We spent a lot of time swimming and snorkeling at the beaches nearby and up in Kailua-Kona. The walk down to the pebble beach is not for the faint of heart as the road goes down to sea level from about 600-700 feet so it's quite steep in spots. There is room for a few cars at the bottom and if you take the 15 minute walk over to the more secluded black sand beach to the north, it's worth the trip. You're close to several coffee plantations, macadamia nut farms, beaches, and scenic points. A full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms plus a queen-sized futon, beautiful lanai, quiet surroundings, and house geckos (they stayed outside as far as I could see) for the low price for the week, you'd be crazy not to check this place out.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks. Happy birthday. We're so glad you had fun and enjoyed our home.

My wife and I and our two adult children thoroughly enjoyed this private and semi-secluded home in a picture perfect location. The home provided all of the necessary comforts without any of the plastic feel of big resort service. The view from the lanai is remarkable and relaxing regardless of what the weather is doing. This home exceeded our expectations for comfort and relaxation. It's a bit far away from KONA nightlife (suited us just fine) and requires some planning to make time to get into Captain Cook for household items. Two thumbs up for comfort, relaxation and beauty.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We recently spent 7 days at this property on Hawai’i. What a great location, about 25 miles south of Kona. The house is in a rural area which helped us quickly adjust to island time. They have thought of all the necessities for a stay on the big island. They had snorkels, fins, and boogie boards we could use, a welcome book which detailed out the best beaches and local attractions, as well as a nice section of movies (both adult and children) and games for our down time. The front deck was great for relaxing after a day of playing, watching the sunset, and connecting back to reality (wifi worked great). There were geckos, butterflies, and birds to watch throughout the property which made it fun for the whole family. The rooms were comfortable and stocked with mini toiletries in case you forgot something. We would definitely stay her again if we find ourselves back on the big island. Thanks again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We took our two granddaughters to this wonderful spot on Kona and terrific beach house. We had so much fun. The owners provided plenty of snorkels and fins that we were able to use. We literally went to the beach at least once every day of our 10-day stay. Everything we needed was at the house....we own a VRBO property ourselves so are a little picky...well, no complaints. :) We loved the geckos. They are so pretty and sweet and scoot around on the lanai. Great BBQ on the covered lanai off the living room with sublime sunsets from there!! Really, they knocked us over, and we come from pretty nice sunsets ourselves. In fact, the granddaughter still say, when I mention how pretty our sunset is, not as good as Hawaii. This house is very well situated. We traveled to the volcano one day and took a boat ride to Captain Cook's Monument to snorkel off the boat another day. Roger and Sadiya are so nice. They provided us with information on how to get places, especially the black sand private beach just a few minutes down the hill. A very secluded, comfortable home located off the busy tourist path. We played their games, watched their DVDS, and enjoyed the separation from the kids with them having their own t.v. We are coming this summer with the girls again and recommend this home for your trip too.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We chose this house as a quiet place to stay, close to snorkeling destination in South Kona. We have 3 young children. The house is great and matches the description provided by the owner. It is fully furbished with the things that we need - rice cooker, coffee maker, dish waster, washing machine etc. Small children can be reined in. The main part of the house is all on one level and the gate to the lanai locks so they can't let themselves out and down the stairs. The house is totally separate from other properties and the yard is lined with plumeria and hibiscus. There are also fruit trees in the yard. There is a view of the ocean. The neighborhood is quiet. The house itself is decorated in 'happy' colors that remind you that you are on vacation. There is also internet access and cable for those who need to connect back to their real life and a movie library for the kids. We would recommend Ho'okena and 2-Step for snorkeling and watching dolphins, the South Kona fruit stand for juice and exotic fruit and Bong Sistahs for lunch.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Karen. We're glad you enjoyed the house. The dolphins at Ho'okena and are always great! We're lucky to be close by.

Three adults stayed 8 nights and loved every minute. This is a charming property that reflects the owner's character - well looked after and the owners were responsive and answered all our questions. Kitchen is very well appointed (maybe a new toaster :) and the beds were very comfortable. We pretty much lived on the ample sized lanai for breakfasts, BBQ dinners and evening cocktails to enjoy the exceptional views, cooler winds and to stay out of the evening rains. You are convenient to the many beaches and excellent snorkling in the Captain Cook area. You are also close enough to the South Point and Volcanoes National Park for an easy 1/2 day or full day sightseeing trip. The geckos are very entertaining and the owners have left beach chairs, some snorkling equipment and very handy coolers for visitors to use. Pictures are all accurate and we very much enjoyed our home away from home and would recommend the property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I recently stayed at this vacation rental in South Kona and had a quiet, wonderful, comfortable and relaxing stay. We found the house well stocked with kitchen, laundry and bath amenities. All appliances were in good working order. There was also TV, movies, internet and board games. The view from the covered front porch was a great place to have meals or just hang out. There was often a gentle breeze drifting through the porch area as we enjoyed the view below. We used this as a home base for our visits to numerous beaches and for day trips viewing other attractions. It was great to have a place to return to like home at the end of the day or when we were done with our activities. There was also ample off street parking for our rental car. We highly recommend this rental and will be looking forward to our next visit there in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're glad you enjoyed the house!

We stayed at this lovely, warm house for a week, and didn't want to leave. It has a spacious lanai with great views, and is located in a neighborhood with a fun, secluded beach that the kids loved exploring. I was able keep up with work, email, and world events with the high speed internet connection. My wife loved the kitchen which is fully stocked for cooking with pans, utensils, spices, and anything you will need. It was also great having two full baths at shower time, and ample off-street parking. We would highly recommend this home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
