Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1995
I am a long time local resident and Main Street realtor who built this home as a personal residence. I have been sharing it with others as a vacation rental for several years now, but only live a few miles away. Knowing the area as I do, I know how hard it is to find that perfect combination of peace and privacy, wonderful views toward Grandfather Mountain and John's River Gorge and an unusual yet comfortable home. I have tried to provide all the amenities I would wish for myself, and truly welcome your feedback regarding your stay at Treehaven! Gail
Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock
Treehaven is very special to me and to most who stay there. I have many repeat tenants who celebrate special anniversaries, honeymoons and holidays there year after year. The Rocky Knob area is almost completely surrounded by national forest lands, so development is limited yet it is very close to the village of Blowing Rock and all its restaurants and shopping.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Treehaven is on 5 acres of wooded mountain land, with huge trees surrounding it and a window open for the year round view. There is a small stream below the house that you can hear from the deck and walk to if you are up for a strenuous hike back up the mountain. You see no other homes from Treehaven and have complete privacy with only the sounds of nature. Pisgah National Forest is close by, so wildlife abounds and it would be unusual if you did not see deer every day and many birds including flocks of wild turkeys--a nature lover's paradise!

This was our second stay at Treehaven and we really enjoyed ourselves once again. The views are incredible and while you're definitely in an isolated area, you're literally 5-10 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. Very convenient. The owner is also very generous and because the road to her house is very steep, she offers to reschedule or refund your stay if the weather prevents you from being able to reach the house. That is hard to beat. I highly recommend a stay here!
Owner response:Michelle, Thanks for returning to Treehaven--I love my repeat guests. And yes, while the private paved drive is steep--it is only one tenth of a mile long so it's over soon. As far as my refund policy, I want my tenants to enjoy their stay and get in and out safely so they will return often! Gail

We spent an absolutely wonderful weekend at Treehaven and could not be more pleased with our experience! The views from every room are spectacular! The cabin is beautifully & comfortably decorated and has wonderful & convenient amenities. We loved the fireplace & hot tub! The location is amazing at how remote it feels while being only minutes from the main street of Blowing Rock. Did I mention the STUNNING views? Waking up to the mountains, a running creek & fluffy clouds is fabulous! What a wonderful way to begin your day! We are already looking for an opportunity to return!
Owner response:Pebbles, I am so glad that you did get to enjoy the views--I wasn't sure the weather would cooperate for that this weekend but as you said, there's always the fireplace and hot tub! Come back anytime. . .

Thank you so much for allowing Roger and I to spend a weekend in your lovely cottage. The views were incredible and the fireplace was our very favorite. We needed relaxation and that was exactly what we got. We found the cottage to be comfortable, quaint and very well stocked. We look forward to returning very soon! Thanks again for a wonderful weekend retreat! Joy & Roger Wilson
Owner response:Joy and Roger, would love to add you to the list of return guests. If I can't live at Treehaven, then it is so much fun to rent it to folks who appreciate what it offers--a place to relax and get away from it all (but not too far from a good restaurant!!)

We had a wonderful time at Treehaven. The house is a short drive to downtown Blowing Rock but the location is very secluded and private. We could not get enough of the big views from the family room and deck. Our daughter loved the hottub which is very nice. Hiking is right off of the back of the house with a small waterfall just a short walk away. Everything that we needed was included in the house. This house is perfect in every way. I would highly recommend to all friends and family. Thanks for sharing with us.
Owner response:Please come back anytime--my guests are so wonderful and take such good care of the home. And you must be in really great shape to walk up and down to that little waterfall--it's a bit of a hike!

Spending the holiday season at Treehaven was wonderful! My family and I really enjoyed the solitude and natural beauty surrounding this home. The house was very comfortable and the decor was beautiful! I absolutely loved the Brandenburg wolf prints. Great choice! We had everything we needed to cook our meals and plenty of firewood. The owner was very attentive to our needs and called to make sure we arrived safely and everything was to our liking. We really appreciated the thoughtfulness. The fact that hiking was right out the door of the cabin was a plus. The gravel roads that led into Pisgah were so quiet and we enjoyed seeing many waterfalls in the area. The creek that runs through the gorge next to the house was also fun to explore. Our dog had a great time exploring with us and it was so nice to have a safe contained back deck area to let her out on her own. This was a great vacation rental and I'm sure we will be back. I would recommend this rental to anyone seeking nature and solitude and yet access to the nearby towns.
Owner response:Laura, I am so glad that you had a wonderful holiday at Treehaven--please come back anytime and thank you for the great review!!

We have just spent 8 wonderful nights at treehaven, with my 2 daughters (8 and 12) and 2 dogs. Treehaven was the perfect spot for a family vacation! We took the kids bikes with us and they were able to "mountain" bike while we spent as much time as possible hiking the beautiful landscape. It is a great place to bring the dogs since there is an enclosed area off the back deck. The decor of Treehaven is so comfortable and has all the amenities that would be needed. The views are breath taking! We saw a lot of wild life in the yard including turkeys and deer. My only challenge was the winding road getting to Treehaven. I did not feel comfortable driving but my husband was not phased by them. I really liked the fact that Treehaven is so secluded but you are extremely close to Blowing Rock!
Owner response:Allison, so glad you and your family had a wonderful vacation at Treehaven! I do all I can to be sure that things I can control like decor, furnishings, amenities and the overall condition of the home are continuously maintained and updated, but the winding roads are just a fact of life in the mountains--especially if your "wish list" includes privacy, views, and plenty of wildlife!

Excellent choice of cabins, and here is why: 1) Location is secluded (I never saw another residential car on the road), but it is close to Blowing Rock, about 15 minutes, maximum. 2) Clean-cabin was spotless, 3) Privacy, again saw no one while there, lots of trees. 4) Furnishings are nice, comfortable, and relatively new. Outside hot tub was great. 5) Cooking-we cooked on the gas grill every night. Saved a bundle, plus i dont like traveling the winding mountainous roads as the sun goes down. 5) Lack of cel service and wi-fi- Okay, I considered this a PLUS (there is a phone land line), but my partner missed his iPad surfing (but it did not kill him to actually have to read and relax without the internet.) HIghly recommend for couples. Kids may get bored, and want to DRIVE somewhere, which could be a hassle, but for a couple(s) looking for a quiet time, this is great. Nearby (35 minutes) was Zip lining at Hawksnest, a Winery, and 55 minutes away was the Linville Caverns. And the little shops in Blowing Rock were 15 minutes away.
Owner response:Treehaven is my favorite place too! I am glad you enjoyed your stay and we do try very hard to keep things in tip top shape for guests and that hot tub gets weekly service to stay sparkly and clean. As far as internet access, maybe one day but for now it is the price we pay for such privacy and natural beauty--not too many homes in this area with Pisgah Forest right below. Just FYI, my Verizon cell phone does work there so if you had the wireless card for your laptop, it would probably work also. Treehaven has many repeat guests and I hope you will be one of them!

My wife and I wanted a private place to stay where we could take our English Pointer and not worry about her running in the woods or over to a neighbor's home. Treehaven was absolutely perfect and we feel lucky to have stayed at such a beautiful home that is very private but still only 10 minutes to downtown Blowing Rock. In fact, the only reason we'd stay anywhere else is if we needed more than 3 beds. This home has everything from a newer hot tub, grill, wood burning fire place and firewood to a bidet in the owner's bathroom. Not that my wife or I used it, but it's good to know its there just in case:) You can hear the stream running on the side and behind the home and the western sunset view is beautiful. We took a hike to the bottom of the ravine behind the home and my wife said she was glad there was a hot tub because she knew she'd be sore after walking back up. I would stand at the back porch and use a Chuck It to launch a tennis ball off the back porch, my dog would take off and 5 minutes later she'd be back ready to go again. Even the drive once you get off the main road, provides that feeling of seclusion and you don't have to worry about having a neighbor right beside you. There are a few cabins on the way in but you can't see anything but trees and mountains once you get to the home. The property was clean and there were plenty of dishes, flatware, pots, pans, etc. You are only 15 to 20 minutes from all the trails that run down the parkway and Grandfather Mountain. My wife and I went to the trout farm and caught 8 pounds of fresh trout to grill out and it was delicious if I do say so myself. While I'll say my dog ran up and down the mountains more than any one could imagine, we couldn't wear her out...but we know that, she's an English Pointer! This place was absolutely perfect and the pictures do not do it justice!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind review--Treehaven has always been a little bit of heaven for people AND their canines--peace and quiet with comfort and seclusion and big views but not too far from town--come back soon! Gail

It rained three out of the four days we were at Tree haven. However, we enjoyed every minute of our trip. We hated to leave this beautiful cabin. It had everything you could imagine in accomodations. The view was awesome and the solitude and peaceful location made this one of our favorite rentals we have visited in all our five years of coming up to Blowing Rock.

We recently visited Treehaven for my wifes 40th birthday. We were very lucky to pick treehaven as we found it to be a very cozy place in the woods just minutes from Blowing Rock. Clean, well maintained, and the owners are very truthful and honest people. The pictures do not do the house justice. Great place. We will return again soon....hopefully for a longer stay! Thanks for sharing Treehaven with us. Todd
