New Years Eve with family at Passmore Place!

We had extended family visiting over the New Years weekend and our small house wouldn't hold everyone, so we found Passmore Place and were thrilled that we could all fit comfortably under one roof. We had 5 adults, 3 children,1 baby and the house had everything we needed, plus it had a play room upstairs complete with toys! The boys (ages 6 & 3yrs.) spent hours playing and building puzzles, which allowed the adults to play dice games downstairs. The 14 yr. old loved the top bedroom that was nestled away in the peak of the house! The main floor had a large eat-in kitchen (with every pot, pan, appliance, or tool that we needed) with a table that could seat 10, plus a comfortable den (with a full bath) off of that where some of us watched TV while others watched the large screen TV in the formal LR. The nicest touch was the tall Christmas tree in the formal dining room that was decorated & lit when we arrived after dark! This really felt like home!!! Also on this level is the MBR which has a study (complete with fireplace & comfy furniture) that you can enter thru pocket doors. The MBA glass shower was HUGE & the linen closet held many small blankets in which to wrap ourselves while we watched the ball drop on New Years Eve! The upstairs held the other bedrooms & baths, which are nicely laid out. 2 shared a Jack-n-Jill bath, 1 had a private bath, and the other 2 didn't have any bathrooms. You couldn't hear much noise from upstairs at all, even with 2 active little boys. Since it was winter we did not use the pool, but I can only imagine how nice it is in the summer. The flow of the house was very comfortable & none of us had any complaints, except for we all had backaches from the beds. Next time we'll just bring air mattresses to put on top of the beds and problem solved. Believe me, this is not a deal breaker for us. We loved the house so much that we're willing to do what we can to make it work for us next time. The house is easy to find and just a few blocks off the main street in Cave City. It is surrounded by land, has houses nearby so you're not out in the wilderness, but is within earshot of the rail road (no biggie). All the restaurants & tourist attractions are within an easy drive. We'd like to thank the owners for being so hospitable & good to work with. They helped us have the best New Years Eve weekend & we made wonderful family memories that we hope to do this again every year!

WOW! What a beautiful home with excellent owners. We spent two days at Passmore Place in Dec. 2011 for my daughter's college graduation from Western Kentucky University. The house is well equipped, nicely kept and has everything you need. We had 18 family members and plenty of room for everyone. It was a short 30 minute drive to Western. Since it was also Christmas, we shared a very special time together and they even provided a beautiful tree for us to enjoy. We needed a house that was handicap accessible and told the owners and they put a wheelchair ramp in place for us at the side entrance which worked out perfectly. I only wish it were summer so we could have enjoyed the pool! Thanks so much for some very special memories, I highly recommend this rental.

Our family stayed here to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. It rained practically the whole time that we were there but that didn't dampen our spirits.The owner was wonderful to work with in meeting our needs.. She was very helpful in answering any type of question that we had before arriving. The listing was very accurate & the photos did show the home as it was. The house is huge & the yard is spacious!! The first thing we all did was just go around & look at all the rooms. It was a wonderful stay!! We were all very impressed & would go back again. The rates are very reasonable too. Thanks so much!

Beautiful home

We stayed at Passmore Place as part of a reunion group. Our 5 families had traveled to China 8 years ago to adopt our children, and we needed a large property, centrally located to accommodate our group. The 5 families brought kids ranging in age from 16 to 3. The house is gorgeous. Each family walked in from their travels and commented "Wow, it's beautiful! Great choice!" The grounds were a little bit ragged, but the area's had a lot of water damage and I'm sure it was a timing issue. It is a wonderful property. That said, I'd recommend asking lots of questions about the house setup if you have a large group like ours and will be sharing bathrooms. Only 2 of the bedrooms have a private bathroom; two of them share a bathroom. One sleep area is really intriguing; it's two twin beds on the first level (perfect for the 2 teen girls in our group) then stairs to a loft-style full size bed area. That configuration does not boast a bathroom, however. There is a full bathroom off the pool area which that family used, but it was a bit inconvenient for them. That being said, the house is quite large and has multiple sitting areas that are well decorated and very inviting. The pool was immaculate and hugely popular with our group. The kitchen was also well scrubbed and stocked with necessities, and there are two dining areas. Overall, the property was amazingly clean and well maintained. I'd definitely recommend it to a flexible, close-knit group.

Three families spent three days at the property. It was clean, well-stocked and very comfortable for 10 people (7 children). The listing was very accurate, and the photos did show the home as it was. It was very centrally located as well for Kentucky Down Under, Mammoth Cave and Dinosaur World. We weren't more than 10 minutes away for those attractions. We hope to stay again. Thanks!

My wife, children and I were traveling back home to KY and weren't ready to go home. We made a call and Passmore Place had a one night vacancy. We made a pit stop and glad we did. This house goes on and on forever. My wife fell in love with the decor. Looks like I'll have my work cut out when I get home. The kids loved the pool and played with the in house stereo system. Regretfully we loaded up to leave the next morning. We will be back to this part of the state for a longer stay again. We were able to get a cave tour in. I had been in it years ago but my wife and boys had not. We wish we had found this house earlier in the year. It's so much better than a hotel. No comparison.

My friends and I just got back last night from a 3 night stay. When we first pulled into the property we were shocked to see that the bushes and landscaping had not been touched at all this year. The shrubs on the ground floor were so tall that it covered alot of the windows and extended beyond the sidewalks making it hard to get around the outside of the property. The pool was great, however it took us nearly an hour to clean the pool from all of the leaves and debris that was floating around before we could use it. nobody had even taken the time to do a basic sweep of the patio this spring. The leaves were still piled up in the corner of the patio from last fall. I will go on a limb and say that 15% of all light bulbs in this place were burned out including every single light that would be needed to swim in the pool after dark. When we starting to unpack our groceries we noticed a smell. it was coming from the dishwasher. Every dish and utensil in the dishwasher had a layer of green mold on it. GROSS!!!! The last complaint i have about the property is that the kitchen lacked your basic cooking needs. we didn't have a single cutting board to use and the pots and pans were not of good quality. My friends and I were still able to have a good time with the rest of the homes amenities. I guess the point of this review is to better prepare you for your trip. With two days worth of "spring cleaning" this house would be amazing. I hope the next renter will be able to use the pool toys and rafts that we left (There was nothing of the sort to be found). The cave was amazing. we did the 4 mile guided hike and had a blast. Ranger Kevin was a little goofy as a guide, but we had a very nice time. I hope this review helps anybody that is interested in renting this property. Safe Traveling!!!

Owner response:There has been much pride taken in making sure the house is ready for each guest. In the event of storms blowing through there are times there could be grass and leaves blown into the pool. This happened last week. The quests called and the problem was quickly taken care of. The patio area has been swept several times this spring. Again items can be blown around in high winds. We have yet to find an issue with the dishwasher and moldy dishes but are investigating it further. It has been disinfected and there should not be any problem with it working properly. Light bulbs were all checked and replaced at the first of May. They are being taken care of again. The cutting board was found under the kitchen cabinet along with adequate kitchen utensils. There was a rose bush that was hanging over the side walk but has since been trimmed. Again, If at any time a guest has an issue a quick call is very helpful in resolving any problem you may have. Many apologies for the trouble you may have experienced. I do wish we had known at the time of your stay of your findings so proper measures could have been taken to better accommodate you.

What a great place for our multi-family get together.  We had 21 people from KY, FL and MI.  The house was huge and we had more than enough space to move around freely.  The kitchen was very nice with everything we needed to prepare most of our meals without going out to eat.  The house was spotless which granny was happy about.  The kids loved the pool and the enormous yard.   They also loved sleeping on the air mattresses.  The only complaint would be the mattress I slept on was harder that I like.  We traded beds with another couple for the next night and it turned out fine.  Other than that it was a wonderful experience and we're planning a trip back next year.  Thanks for opening your beautiful home to us.  We would recommend this rental to anyone.

"The Buckeye Bunch" rolled in for a two night stay but fell in love with this place forever! What a wonderful place for our 4 families to enjoy all the awesome adventures during the day and relax by the pool at night. There was room for all 17 of us with wonderful amenities. WONDERFUL!!!! I never would have believed what a wonderful time we could have, and what a perfect home this is. We had a family reunion, 19 of us, ranging in age from 70 to 2! Everyone had a wonderful time!!! I can't say enough about the pool and yard, and the home itself was perfect. Beautiful bedrooms, and lots of room! This was a great place for our family of 18. We had 10 children and 8 adults and all had a great time. The pool was a great hit for everyone. There was excitement of the tornado on Tuesday. We were all hiding in the hall closet and the bathrooms. What a beautiful time for family and bonding.

What a lovely home! We stayed with 3 families (6 adults,5 children)and it was the perfect place for our stay. It was spotless and the kids loved the pool. We could spread out or choose to be together! We especially enjoyed the horses running alongside the fence in the backyard. Also, Cream & Sugar was a nice play to eat withing walking distance. Our reunion group spent a week here. We're friends from high school (in Chicago) who are all turning 60 this year. We enjoyed the house. Large table for group meals, chairs for outside chats, large tv. There were plenty of linens for all, dishes too. We enjoyed many activities in the area and the interesting shops in Cave City. Thanks so much for this place where we renewed our friendship to one another hopefully for another 60 years.

We have selected this home for our family's Thanksgiving weekend. What a wonderful place to come. This home is spacious and lovely and we sure have enjoyed it. When we pulled in the driveway we knew that we had made the right decision. Part of our family came form Lawrenceville Georgia. Part from Macon Missouri and from Warrenton Missouri. We were able to get some professional pictures outside around gold, yellow and red autumn leaves on the trees. There were 8 adults and 8 children that spent our wonderful weekend here. We went to Mammoth Cave, Dinosaur World, and rode the ferry in the Park. The children did not want to leave. Again, what a wonderful weekend. Thanks again!

What a wonderful family weekend we had here at Passmore Place. The house hosted our whole family beautifully. So many things made us feel at home. The big kitchen and family areas, the kids playroom and toys, the lovely bedrooms and yard! The kids are having a parade in the driveway as we pack up. This was the perfect meeting for us halfway between Northern Indiana and Atlanta. We plan on coming back for even more family time and great memories.

We had a great time with our "blended family" weekend. All 13 of us fit perfectly in the house. We enjoyed playing cards at the kitchen table while the kids played hide and seek throughout the house. The computer came in handy for both entertainment and useful in retrieving information. Thanks mama and daddy for the awesome weekend.

As we pulled through the gates I thought to myself, "A presumptious estate in such a quaint neighboorhood". Upon entering we took a grand tour; taking it all in. This is a grand house with great accomodations. Too much for just the two of us but the privacy and seclusion and the jacuzzi was well worth it! Out and about for a two hour ride at Jesse James Riding Stable was awesome! Then the "New Entrance" tour at Mammoth Cave really gave us a work out, but fantastic views . It was a little scary on the way down. Last night was dinner at 440 Main in Bowling Green. It was our last night to dress up for a sumptuous gourmet meal. Stayed here the first weekend in October on our way to see Mammoth Caves. The house is enormous, and about 20 minutes from the caves. For the price of an average hotel room in Chicago, our entire family was able to relax with a full kitchen, large office with internet, and a big screen tv. Next time we would try to stay during the summer to enjoy the pool. The house was fairly new and very well maintained and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area.

We really enjoyed the house. It was perfect for our needs. Great location, size and features (hardwood floors, pool, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, large kitchen, crown molding, high quality build, etc). Total of 8 adults and 6 kids fit comfortably. Cave City location has so many things to do making this a great location. Donna communicates with guests well and is very accommodating. We will certainly consider staying there again in a few years for another family reunion.
